    are rainbow wolf fish boring? do they do that marbled goby thing where they just sit there motionless all day, until its feeding time?

    • @TheFishBeast
      @TheFishBeast  2 года назад +3

      Very reactive. Mostly he stays in the upper water column but if you look in his direction or move your hand around it activates him.

      @@TheFishBeast thanks! other RWF keepers are also saying the same thing, plus dont overfeed (or else will get very lazy and only come out for food).
      im gonna get me two soon, and HOPE that its somehow 1 male 1 female, and later try to pair them up! even if they wont pair up, ive made enough future space for them each to grow up in enough and comfortable space!
      SECOND question:
      the young ones available here, i can already see that their top fins are yellow... does this mean theyre the yellow variants, and not the red variants? or can the yellow actually turn into red when they grow up?
      cheers! and may your fish(es) and you live a long blessed life!

    • @TheFishBeast
      @TheFishBeast  2 года назад +1

      @@thekaizer666 I only feed it twice a week, I think that keeps him always active and on the move. Good luck with buying 2! Remember even if you have a male and female they will most likely attack even kill each other! They are impossible to sex. So make sure you have 2 separate tanks for them in case you see any aggression develop. Thank you for the question and kind comments, bro! Cheers 🍻

      @@thekaizer666 there is some speculation regarding this species that it is actually part of a complex (various color morphs depending on catch point). I am not aware of any specific method to tell if the fin colors change as they mature. Keep in mind that there is another species (Erythrinus kessleri) that can appear similar especially when young in addition to some of the Hoplerythinus (which grow a lot bigger)… in fact even the length of the dorsal fin can vary depending on catch location. Speciation at work!

    I had one once. I kept it in a 20 gallon for a few years but a few weeks after I moved it to a 45 gallon it died on me.
    I would sometimes give it a cube of frozen glass worms and it would grab it and swallow it whole. I always find it amusing when a predatory fish eats frozen cubes because they normally eat live food and the cube is clearly dead but since it's still edible they don't mind eating it.

    • @TheFishBeast
      @TheFishBeast  6 лет назад

      Oh damn, sorry yours died! Yeah worms and anything meaty seem to be taken with relish.

      The Fish Beast
      Yeah I was a little sad when it died but I have a large fish room and occasionally something dies (usually of old age) so I've had to get somewhat used to it especially if most of my fish only live to around 3 or 4 years old in captivity.
