Years ago i lived at a housing apartment complex alone with my two young infant children. On the 3rd floor, I'd try to fly the groceries up as fast as i could and then grab the kids. Usually sleeping. Thank God they were as i kicked my keys in. A very scary looking gentleman walked by and asked me what's wrong. Within 3 seconds it felt like he had my car open ama my kids out. Still grateful to him till this day. Never felt safer than I did in that low income housing project. Everyone watched out for everyone.
I locked myself out of the house the fire department came raise the bucket put a firefighter through my unlocked 2nd story window where he proceeded to make fun of me while I was terrified for my baby alone on the third floor in her crib. 😂
This reminds me of my husband. Before I knew him 24 years ago he did time for breaking into houses and cars. In the past few years, he’s helped 3 neighbors get into their homes when they’ve locked their keys inside. And helped one neighbor get into his car. So the skill comes in handy sometimes. By the way, prison was good for him. Trained him as an electrician and he’s now a master electrician. People can change.

Not everyone are born bad. They are doing bad because of their situations. And everyone should be given a fair chance for them to pull themselves together and prove that they can change.
I agree. No one is born bad, and people act in different ways for different reasons. Then doing this wasn’t to justify anything, they did it to save a child. Proving they changed for the better.
Prison used to be for rehabilitation, and it should still be that way for some offenses. If you murder, rape, or molest a child, I don’t think you should be released back into society. For everything else, we should be spending our taxes on helping them graduate from high school (if they haven’t yet,) graduate from college, or have them go to trade school while they are locked up. Instead we throw them into crowded prison (or jail) cells, where the situation is hopeless for them and instead of people coming out as better human beings (we should offer counseling as well,) we usually have them come out worse then when they went in. One more thing - privatization of prisons was the worse thing we could have done. That needs to change. We need to pay the men/women who are serving their sentence more money than we do. The last time I checked, prisoners were paid $2.00 an hour for the jobs they do, which is ludicrous. If you have no family to go home to, how are you supposed to survive when you get out? That’s one of the reasons there is such a high recidivism rate, among the other reasons I listed, in this country.

I work in prison. I have 16 years on the job and this is absolutely correct. Some people make mistakes and end up with me. Not all of them are terrible people. Don’t get me wrong there are many people in prison that absolutely need to be locked away from others. This is great. Nice work everyone!
In most cases, people who end up being criminals are victoms of bad enviroment. 90% of criminals were raised by gangs members, drug dealers and others. Very few people can break out of it at the young age. Im not saying they shouldnt be locked up, but i am saying that they deserve some sympathy.

I wish they said their names instead of just calling them "inmates." They are still people despite what they're going through and deserve the recognition.
They are people entitled to some level of privacy. If they named them then this video 70 years from now would still be identifying them as inmates (they are unmistakably in the get-up) long after their rehabilitation and release. Yes they deserve recognition but they also do NOT deserve to have their time in prison enshrined in the news for simply doing a good thing.

@@scarlettadams9584 That's a fuckin loaded question. Why don't you tell me when we had them in the first place? Why should a woman be forced to pay for essential feminine hygiene products just because they're not essential products to male inmates? Or how does being beaten and thrown in solitary for following the orders of guards that didn't like another inmate count as being treated as someone with rights? Those same guards would have punished you for not listening so where's the part where you get to choose to do the right thing? Because I can't see that freedom of choice anywhere. True story, by the way. Not an experience of mine though. When they drag some dude's body out, beaten or shot for as little as swinging a tray at a guard who then "feared for his life" (I promise you that's no stretch of the imagination), will you think the dead guy was treated with respect or dignity, that the guys that did him in believed he had rights? Ain't no hope for actually rehabilitating people with the justice system as long as there's people like you claiming prisoners actually have rights. If they did, prison probably wouldn't be near as scary. Because it would be functioning properly. As a reformation system, not a psychological deterrent, where the threat of being used, abused, and traumatized due to your lack of rights is more what people think of than the loss of freedom when prompted with the thought of prison.

Rehabilitation offenders Act 1974. I know UK
I’m glad someone understands and isn’t just bashing someone for being a criminal🥺
