Best reason ever for not buying new: "I enjoy designing and working on things." Your time is money, and video is your source of income. Besides, most of us find it inspiring to watch your out of the box thinking as you solve different problems. I do have a question for Tom. Why does Matt's eye-crometer cause you so much angst when the engineer's code of precision is to measure with micrometer, mark with chalk, and cut with axe?😂
@@tomtomsshop as the old joke about the mathematician and the ngineer says, it's close enough for all practical purposes. I still think Matt should have to do a project where every measurement is within .001 inches tolerance for running out of gas that day.

And because of the nature of Matt's businesses (RUclips content creator) buying a pre made part assembly will actually work out to being more expensive in the long run.
The answer to why don't you buy it is multifaceted. First the poster wouldn't have anything to post about, then they wouldn't have anything to watch, then Matt wouldn't have the YT money to buy the new stuff, so he would HAVE to fix the old stuff. Then the poster could post about it and everyone's happy again.

I love how the Channel is Matt’s off-road recovery but it’s really about everybody else as well. Matt does an awesome job making sure everyone else gets to drive and be just as much a part of the videos as he is.
Wow, the Banana has become a lot more capable, it does just crawl up really big, steep obstacles now, good job upgrading it MORR Crew. And it is so fun seeing Jefe grinning so big as he wheels his new Bronco...it is obvious how much he loves it. And Jamie is a wheelin' driver, she's getting a lot more brave and confident. Then there's Lizzy...positive stuff, positive stuff, positive stuff, yadda yadda. ;)
Matt, my experience has been the most serious injuries of over 100 journeyman workers in the different trades I worked with over the years were those in their 40s and 50s who became cavalier with safety. I myself almost became one of them if it wasn't for a vigilant coworker and there is no question I would be dead or severely disabled. I don't want to see you joining that group, but based on your videos, I wouldn't be surprised to see you in a eye patch or with a serious hand injury in the next couple of years. A 58 year old lead carpenter just lost all 4 fingers on his dominant hand last week at my brothers job so it is on my radar. Sorry to be a downer but I really like you and your videos and hope to see many many more in the future with you fully functional. Touch your safety sign every morning and embrace it! I can't even imagine how excited Milestar is to have Matt as one of their customers as I can't imagine a better advertisement than watching those things crawl up the rocks. They have transformed that XJ into something exceptional and to see it crawl up that first obstacle was incredible.
My suggestions to you...Keep being yourself. Quit worrying about what commentators want. Do not change what your doing to appease the haters/lovers. As your fans we found your channel in some way or the other and have hung around for some reason. That is a good thing for any youtuber to have. Because as long as you have people watching, commenting and/or liking/disliking the videos, it gets pushed higher up the suggestions list. Do whatever you feel like doing. What you do is your choice. We will still be here doing whatever it is that we do as fans/haters no matter what.
Agreed and as someone who's followed the channel from virtually the beginning, I find it frustrating when so much time is given over to appeasing the absolute miniscule number of people who are leaving negative comments. The world spends too much time worrying about these people, and I'd prefer that you not feel like you have to do so. Good to see Ed looking well and sharp as a tack in his guayabera shirt. Also good to see Lizzy back more frequently. Had been missing her. That Banana is one mean crawling machine now.The way it effortlesly cruises up those rocks makes it look like it's being winched. Outstanding!

As a photographer I look at the magical sky above you. Plus the way light grabs every colour and hits you right in the eye with it. I'm bloody envious at times guys.
I do like the wrecker, and I can't blame you for using it, but from this side of RUclips (watching) I do enjoy watching the Morrvair and Banana pull a David and conquer Goliath on occasion.
It's good to see Ed back and involved. Thank you for explaining what you're doing. Some of the suggestions fans offer show a lack of knowledge/experience but that comes with the territory when your videos are exposed to the world. Keep up the good work and wear your seat belts.
2:37 I've modifying trucks for 50 years, I'm a qualified machinist, and a certified Millwright. I thought two things about the axle mod, first of all it's a common modification, second you did it VERY cost effective with those holes saws as reamers!!! ... GREAT JOB!! I just checked the price on a "proper" 1 1/2" 20 flute reamer? it's $600 .. an adjustable one of medium quality (that may or may not do the job) is like $150 .. So again great job with the holesaws ... and yes your correct the oil will get through there just fine! :)
A big thank you to Matt and the MORR family for the great content. The only chanel that I watch on a regular basis. Have a great weekend all and stay safe.
Don’t change a thing mate love your videos and your crew you’re very lucky to be able to do the job you do and it shows because every one around you is always happy and looked after. Ed needs some upgrades on his old Ute maybe a quick fix up for the old fella for your next project 👍
I watch SO MANY THINGS FROM YOU AND YOUR CREW!!! I think you guys are THE BEST!!! You and Jayme are so GOOD TOGETHER and we are Kent II & Jamie. I Pray Gods Blessings for you and your family Matt and your entire crew🙏🇺🇸
I love your answers, but there's another! You build this stuff as a RUclips content provider - Putting in a new axle is what others do. You built a business doing this stuff! Of course, that's what you will do!
Why would anyone say that will never work, only a super small percentage of breakdowns are from modification of parts. Like drilling the hole bigger for the tie rod. The rest are part failures, torque vs strength. That is what testing is for. Great video guy's and gals.
Great upgrade for the Banana, Matt. It is an amazingly capable vehicle. So I have recently seen Jaimey drive a Rollback, the Wrecker and now the Banana on tough trails. What a genuine Treasure She is!! Great to see Ed up to his old self and really enjoy seeing Rudy out with his family. Be Safe in your endeavors!!
If your not sure what your next project is, your more than welcome to install that exhaust and lockers on my XJ.🤣😂 Amazed at how well your vehicles handle the terrain. Really enjoyed the clip of Ed and Lizzy fixing the saw. Really glad to see Ed out and about without the neck brace.
We all know Lizzie is a farm girl but my suspicion is Jamie was raised on a farm also. Both are tough young ladies and very capable of wheeling with anyone. Great job from all the crew!
Making your own special parts rather than buying new also gives you the satisfaction of a job well done when completed! That’s a great feeling of accomplishment ! Keep it up!
That was a fun video of working in the Banana and wheeling it. I worked up an apatite just watching it. I'm going to make a yellow mustard sandwich, on white bread. Man, I love yellow mustard sandwiches sooo much!! I Love any kind of mustard, it's just not right to go through a day without eating something with yellow mustard on it, I'm not even sure it's legal!!
Hi Matt, I would love to see a comparison of the Banana's capabilities from 3 or 4 years ago compared to now. Perhaps even redo some of the "sketchy" or failed obstacles from back then.
I've got an old six cylinder Jeep that I'm getting ready to work on and I love hearing that "six cylinder music" coming through the exhaust, I've long enjoyed straight sixes, just so clean and even. The banana really looks and sounds great strolling through.
Looking at Bronco scraping, bashing and jumping on these rocks, helps to realize how capable Banana, Morrvair and Wrecker are! True beasts! And it's evolving constantly... I'm curious how Bambi will be transformed before winter, I'm sure it will be as cool and capable as the rest of the pack ;)
I have a small jar of white lead marking compound for setting up differentials, I used it sparingly because I hated the new stuff . I made that jar last 10 years.
Love you guys all to death. I want my family to be like this wheeling working and spending time together. You guys are a great team and all of the comments and questions your answers would have been my answers. Ready to go wheeling again and one day would like of start recovery where I’m at in the mountains. Much love
😂 love the humor, and thanks for tackling the questions, I love learning new things :) it’s also fun watching the team developing and being given opportunities to grow. Ed-great to see you around again!
Hey Guys! No problem with the bore. We used to run 70 axles in the 60 rear housings and discs too! Your Banana is probably about 6000 lbs. Close to ours. We gave 'em Heck and then some! Good Luck, Brother!
Yup, you can spot the armchair keyboard experts that have NEVER actually done a thing in real life other than watch videos right away just from their comments,, while it's nothing compared to the Banana,, my 98 zj grand cherokee is built as far as I feel nessacary,, it is after all just a daily driver,, tho a quite capable one,,
People are crazy. Like CRAZY. Tom or Matt could do one thing wrong and all of a sudden they don't know what they are doing at all and are a danger to everyone. Like dude calm down and go buy some feet pics on feet finder or whatever your hobby is 😂.
I have a recommendation for the exhaust.... try a dual or split header set up with dual exhaust. get 2 24 inch glass packs and put one in backwards. it will give a high and low tone, run the exhaust side by side and exiting the vehicle next to each other. the dual tones together give inline 6cyl engines a beautiful and unique sound that i truly enjoy. i did that to my 300 inline 6 in my 75 ford f100
It’s baffling to me that anyone wouldn’t understand just how custom the MORR vehicles are. You can’t buy another one like any one of them they’re so custom. I will never be able to see TomTom now without hearing Kermit singing to me. Cute Ed teaching Lizzy! So happy he’s in the shop these days. 🌺
I am a lot more of a fan of seeing you upgrade and build than I am seeing fast forward video of you driving a trail to get someone out. That said, if I lived that close and I had vehicles to do the trails, I'd be on the trails as often as I could. The fact that you have three vehicles(in MORR) that can do any trail, and often recovering at the same time, is priceless!
The chart of acceptable patterns Ford used to include with their factory 9" gear sets was about 30 or so long; that one you showed was one of the better ones, so there's that... The lash at 4-5 thou is a touch tight, but not bad; I'd pattern the entire ringgear and make sure there's no tighter spots and send it if it was good 👍. Colby's comment about the Banana inspiring dangerous confidence was intriguing; it must be a fun rig to drive! Good video!
Matt, yellow mustard has its place as a binder for rubs when your smoking ribs. I always lather up the baby backs in yellow mustard before applying the rub of choice.
I'm eager to see the next phase of the Samorri build. It went from a stock Suzuki Samuri to a yellow stock Suzuki Samorri, but I think it is time to put some wheeling miles on it behind the Banana and then start the next build project. Things like add the Banana's old axles on it (because Matt Loves Hand Me down equipment) and perfecting the suspension are all up in the air. It also needs some towing time with the off road trailer. My 2cents - Love the channel. After that, maybe the worlds first off road rollback. This could ben an old cabover body with the off road wrecker's suspension and links (maybe wiith a change to horizontal shock bodies in the rear) and an aircraft carrier deck for the rest of it. I love the build videos. Keep them coming.
Next project before anyhting else get the snowcat upto scratch it takes u out in the worst most deadly settings and weather's yet it gets the least attention
The success you guys have built Isn't shocking Imo . yall seem to have 2 major characteristics that just take care of themselves . 1: you take full advantage of any oppt given . 2: and probably most important is you're so organic and real and it shows bigtime. From Matt leading way to Jamie being glue the makes everyone emancipate out in personailty :) well deserved
Next project should be all of you taking a vacation to Hawaii and enjoying some time off. I watch these videos of you and the crew working hard everyday either on the toys or work. Time to go enjoy a week on the beach drinking a margarita!
Hey Colbi. Do not ever put yourself in the trajectory a car will take in case of mecanical failure. We do not need you to take unnecessary risk for just a good picture. As confident you are in Matt's ability, if there is problem, you can be injured (or worse) or Matt, trying to avoid, you can put himself (or others) in danger.
Living in Edmonton Alberta Canada I can honestly tell you all my battery packs freeze have froze unintentionally. It happens at -48. I can’t tell the difference
There is always a critic. Keep up the great work. Your videos are awesome. You are always able to figure it out. The Banana is the Foundation of MORR, the Morvair and Wrecker are totally awesome. Please don't even think of retiring the Banana.

@Robert Bates Tom welds, but you mean Lizzy. All the others are fluff? I was trying to give a compliment, which you seem to have missed.
Definitely do a maintenance overhaul on the snow cat
Taking the banana out and going thru the technical difficulties of the obstacles is a great addition to your videos !
Well done 👍
For sure and to remember it will be dragging a trailer most likely.
It's nice to see Ed getting around 😉
It was really great to see him again and teaching Lizzie the proper way to fix the cord.
The snowcat deserves a real upgrade and you will thank yourself next snow season!
I love your answers, but there's another! You build this stuff as a RUclips content provider - Putting in a new axle is what others do. You built a business doing this stuff! Of course, that's what you will do!
The memories you are making and knowledge you are passing down are priceless. Keep up the good work.😊
Why would anyone say that will never work, only a super small percentage of breakdowns are from modification of parts. Like drilling the hole bigger for the tie rod. The rest are part failures, torque vs strength. That is what testing is for. Great video guy's and gals.
Great upgrade for the Banana, Matt. It is an amazingly capable vehicle.
So I have recently seen Jaimey drive a Rollback, the Wrecker and now
the Banana on tough trails. What a genuine Treasure She is!!
Great to see Ed up to his old self and really enjoy seeing Rudy out with
his family. Be Safe in your endeavors!!
If your not sure what your next project is, your more than welcome to install that exhaust and lockers on my XJ.🤣😂
Amazed at how well your vehicles handle the terrain.
Thanks for taking the time to answer/respond to some of the more popular questions. Love that you take the time to do engage the viewers.
Making your own special parts rather than buying new also gives you the satisfaction of a job well done when completed! That’s a great feeling of accomplishment ! Keep it up!
I love how much Jefe is loving pushing his Bronco on these trails!
It looks like it’s doing well and that leads to more companies making parts
I think it need bigger tires. I'm just glad to see a Ford that's not being recovered. lol
All the fun is in the ‘journey’ of the build. That’s what builds a good story with all the hilarious moments! Keep up the good work MORR!
Hi Matt, I would love to see a comparison of the Banana's capabilities from 3 or 4 years ago compared to now. Perhaps even redo some of the "sketchy" or failed obstacles from back then.
Thanks for addressing so many comments!! I love the variety in the questions AND answers!!
Oh, and good to see Rudy in this one!!!
I've got an old six cylinder Jeep that I'm getting ready to work on and I love hearing that "six cylinder music" coming through the exhaust, I've long enjoyed straight sixes, just so clean and even. The banana really looks and sounds great strolling through.
PEOPLE, REMEMBER, Tom is a former Aerospace ENGINEER....he knows the math....they got it under control, quit 2nd guessing them..
Yet can't secure a brake pipe so it dosent get damaged
@Ashley Wright so that automatically means you know more.
@Tex_Gil never managed to sheer a brake line off and loose all brakes 🤷🏻
@@ashleywright1991 ahh gotcha. Well you are a PERFECT specimen of a human being. Our lord did humanity such a favor 😂
@@tex_gil117 our Lord? You really are a nutter go preach to your weird friends
Yes, Lizzy rocks - and so does Jamie too :-) Also nice to see Ed in vigour.
Matt and Gang, you have built an incredibly capable fleet of vehicles! Congrats and keep up the great work.
Why did people hate seeing you set up gears previously? I like everything y’all do!
I really look forward to watching your videos. What makes your operation so top notch is you are more than a skilled team but a big caring family 😊 .
THAT is simply THE BEST sounding straight six I have ever heard. Nice job, MORR Team!!!!
I think I would have used a HUSH THRUSH !!!!
Imo sounds worse with the new temporary exhaust 😀
Wow, Ed showed her how to fix the cord right. My grinder still has a duct taped cord from 20 years ago. LOL
I have a small jar of white lead marking compound for setting up differentials, I used it sparingly because I hated the new stuff . I made that jar last 10 years.
Hey Folks, awesome Q&A and upgrade coverage! Nice to see everyone getting some seat time too.
Every shop should have yellow mustard in the fridge. It's great for taking the sting out of minor burns.
Love you guys all to death. I want my family to be like this wheeling working and spending time together. You guys are a great team and all of the comments and questions your answers would have been my answers. Ready to go wheeling again and one day would like of start recovery where I’m at in the mountains. Much love
Matt, you dont have to explain yourself. It's like you have hundreds of armchair supervisors. They need to watch and enjoy the video.
You are also being a armchair supervisor...
D Kirk, you took the words out of my mouth totally agree.
Sure, he doesn't "have to" interact with his audience, but he likes to keep his viewers happy, and returning to his channel.
@@AFloridaSon Good point.
Amen there’s some truly ignorant people out there
😂 love the humor, and thanks for tackling the questions, I love learning new things :) it’s also fun watching the team developing and being given opportunities to grow. Ed-great to see you around again!
Hey Guys! No problem with the bore. We used to run 70 axles in the 60 rear housings and discs too! Your Banana is probably about 6000 lbs. Close to ours. We gave 'em Heck and then some! Good Luck, Brother!
It's also really cool to see the evolution of these old rigs, it makes for good entertainment!
Totally agree
Don't you just love it when all the "experts" tell you your doing something wrong? They've probably never fabricated a vehicle in their lives.😅
@@tex_gil117 👍👍
@@edzimdahl1158 👍👍
I think you guys are great. It is amazing watching you switch out components for other components and getting it done. Keep up the great work.
17:15 OK, I am REALLY impressed. I always figured those were all for show. 🙌🏻
It sure is nice to see Ed back in action
I am a lot more of a fan of seeing you upgrade and build than I am seeing fast forward video of you driving a trail to get someone out. That said, if I lived that close and I had vehicles to do the trails, I'd be on the trails as often as I could. The fact that you have three vehicles(in MORR) that can do any trail, and often recovering at the same time, is priceless!
Lizzie, as a retired carpenter...,I can say I have cut my share of saw cords! Now saws are cordless! 😊
A great part of the channel is fixing, altering, modifying your vehicles. Thank you for bringing us along
Good video!
Jamie adds sparkle to every video she’s in !
She's a gem
That exhaust sounds amazing! Keep up the good work.
2:15 We need more people like Ed! What a golden soul!
Next project before anyhting else get the snowcat upto scratch it takes u out in the worst most deadly settings and weather's yet it gets the least attention
I think its time to build a capable offroad flatbed
The success you guys have built Isn't shocking Imo . yall seem to have 2 major characteristics that just take care of themselves . 1: you take full advantage of any oppt given . 2: and probably most important is you're so organic and real and it shows bigtime. From Matt leading way to Jamie being glue the makes everyone emancipate out in personailty :) well deserved
Next project should be all of you taking a vacation to Hawaii and enjoying some time off. I watch these videos of you and the crew working hard everyday either on the toys or work. Time to go enjoy a week on the beach drinking a margarita!
Kermit is a badass, Tom is a badass. The math checks out.
Quicksilver 8180 is likely a trumpster.
Next build: ultimate off-road rollback!
