No. Just because he was honest about it doesn't make it okay. He's a cultural appropriator and he doesn't deserve to be rewarded for that. He's doing what every white boy is doing these days. Instead of creating their own organic art, they become "rappers" as a cheat code to success. Post Malone did it too. Use the Hip Hop style and imagery as a gimmick (disrespectful) until you've gained some followers, and once they've done that they change to the style of music they actually planned to make all along, crappy derivative white "rock" or "emo" trash. You don't praise someone for being a fake, cultural appropriating vulture just because they choose to be honest about it LONG AFTER THE FACT.

@@gandalainsley6467 that’s a good point. Yes he’s rapping, but he’s a fake SUCCESSFUL rapper. Instead of organically earning success he cheated his way to the top. This means he hasn’t had the chance to prove his actual skills and be vetted by fans and colleagues. We really have no idea who this dude is. A crucial part of rap & hip hop culture is authenticity and it kinda sucks that we aren’t really getting that anymore from our current stars

It’s rare to find people in this situation who identify how their parents helped them out. Most would rather chalk it up to work ethic or talent. Some people just straight up lie not only to others but themselves too. This guy did the honorable thing and it’s working for him. Commenters are always ready to slice up a spoiled kid who thinks they did it on their own. But this guy is getting positive feedback because he’s transparent.

@@mattyballz in the end “trying to move past the fact his parents have money” as of it’s a struggle. Do people make the rightful assumption he uses wealth to get fame faster? Yes but I don’t think it’s anything to move past. If he was good enough no one would care he came from wealth like the numerous other musicians who has finical backing from the start. If anything he uses it to stay relevant as a gimmick of sort. it just seems like him being chill helped you buy into his who gimmick a little. Still good video in general and like the channel man no hate.

To be an artist you need to fund it somehow, whether you’re a “plant” or not. Respect to him for being honest, no shame in that

Still kinda insane that THIS DUDE is the son of the toniandguy creator.
But still, surprised to see the dude being humble, you love to see it.
He was super transparent, you can see that he does take this stuff seriously, changed my whole view on him.
Anyway, great follow up to this thing. Can't wait to see the next vid!

I love your vids including this one. But, title of this video is not fair. I didn't know who the Smile is until now but for I can tell this dude worked hard and got a help from his parents. Claiming that he bought his career is not fair at least by my standards.

I don’t want to shock people but if you contact a record label you can get the managers contact number. You then get a quote for a feature. It’s not a mystery.

Damn it’s crazy how we’ll just accept and absorb an inauthentic (rebranding consistently) nepo baby just because they acknowledge their privilege on a surface level…. I wonder what PR agent preps him for his interviews because they did a good job
**hold up, I listened again, and this is the first time he’s publicly acknowledging his privilege and even in this interview he talked circles around it, saying he “doesn’t like to talk about it.” How is that really being transparent??

First time I saw him he was getting ratio'd in a random TikTok comment section after he said something dumb. He had hardly any followers, views, or likes, so I was confused as to why he had a blue tick. Tried Googling him and didn't really find much, I guess it was before the big collabs. Forgot about him until the first video you had mentioning him.

OOHH OK SO. Back when EDM was #1 in the 2010's there was a "mysterious DJ" named "Jane XØ" with the marketing tagline of "You know who I am, but who I am does not matter" and it's been on my mind since 2016. She was pushed decently hard but never caught on, & I wonder who she or they were?
