I feel like people really need to chill out about songs that express a difference in beliefs of any kind because freedom of speech is one of the rights of American citizens. However, with great power comes great responsibility, so of course people should prepare to face any possible outcomes that their choice of words may have because everyone is different and some people believe a certain way that not every other person will believe the exact same thing(s). For example, say a family had just moved to a different part of town. The family owns a small boutique that is a Christian store. The neighbor across from them doesn’t believe in Christianity, so they find the boutique to be outrageous. They can’t spread rumors about it or try to get it shut down for no reason, because that’s abusing their right to freedom of speech. I feel like if someone doesn’t agree with a song, then they should just change the radio station if they are listening to the radio, skip the song and remove it from their playlist if they are listening to a music playlist, or they could also just try to be open-minded and give the song more of a chance because they might end up liking it. Great video, Matty. That shirt looks good on you, btw.
do people REALLY take angry Christians seriously in this day and age? Ive seen Christians lose their marbles so many times that i don't even see it as genuine or note worthy "controversy". A christian being mad about rebellious music is about as predictable as the sun rising every morning
Is that the flower Boy poster that comes with the vinyl? Because I got the vinyl and it came with the exact poster and I didn’t know that you could get it otherwise

They think that lil nas X song was controversial, its just because the time has unfortunatly changed, and now if someone would release a song like tenacious D or something more controvsrsial he would definitly will be blocked
I really don’t understand the hate behind montero. Who cares if an artist chooses to portray certain imagery in their art? It’s not their responsibility to cater to every listener
it's because he's gay, doesn't matter how people wanna bounce around it, it's because he's gay. There's been satanic imagery in music for decades at this point, yet nobody seems to care about it, but the moment a gay dude does it, it's suddenly the actual work of the devil and a danger to our children. The only valid criticism of it in my opinion is that he was very much catering to children before the song released, performing at schools and whatnot. But you can't just expect him to be the kid friendly country artist for the rest of his career, I can't blame him for wanting to switch to more adult music but i think the switch could have been done better. But of course that's not what the angry pastors focus on.
There might be separation of church and state in the US, but culturally the so-called Christians still act like they still have a complete iron grip on society. For a loving God, they sure hate a lot
We're Not Gonna Take It is a great example to. I dont think it was necessarily controversial when it came to the public, but to corporations and congress they got super fuckin scared. The lead singer of Twisted Sister himself appeared at a congressional hearing led by Al Gore, and he made Gore look like an absolute ass lol.
Could've brought up how the first few Cannibal Corpse albums were banned in Germany for years. Also, the only way to listen to Cop Killer is by having an OG press of the album, or going to RUclips ofc. Luckily i have an og CD press of the album.
Guy who does know genre well here, Heavy Metal & Metal are identical. However, the former COULD have an alternate meaning for more Groovy & Melodic Metal from 1960-1979 like Black Sabbath & the sound associated with them. Love you're channel man keep it up 🔥
I feel like people really need to chill out about songs that express a difference in beliefs of any kind because freedom of speech is one of the rights of American citizens. That shirt looks good on you, btw.
great vid matbals😍
Your videos are dope dogg
Didnt even get 1 second in, alright hit the like button. You always have good content.
13:17 hahaha “Ice tea said...” cut to ice cube 😂
if you make another could you talk about Pumped Up Kicks
Such a catchy tone and then u realize the lyrics (at least for me a a bilingual)
Love the long form video let’s goooo
I remember when you only had 11K subs. How time flies.
I live in Australia and didn't know Triple J was running NWA for 6 months that's actually amazing.. STRAYYAAAA 🇦🇺
do people REALLY take angry Christians seriously in this day and age? Ive seen Christians lose their marbles so many times that i don't even see it as genuine or note worthy "controversy". A christian being mad about rebellious music is about as predictable as the sun rising every morning
I think it all started when the pastor lost his shit over pokemon
@@personwitharat9039i remember that it was crazy 😮
@@deondrex18k wha wa wha WHA!
FIRST! Love the grind man
Nobody cares that your first
I can’t believe you made this video without the 2livecrew.
I was going to come here and say the same thing, however it was there whole album, not just one song that got Banned.
I'll surprise you. I'm not American and I had no idea about the controversy surrounding Montero. It really wasn't a thing in the media I consume.
Is that the flower Boy poster that comes with the vinyl? Because I got the vinyl and it came with the exact poster and I didn’t know that you could get it otherwise
Yeah it came w the vinyl
Triple J is actually still a great station, the have a yt and have great artists there! Glad to see they never let censorship win even now!
you forgot Madonna's "Justify my love". The music video and song was banned from Radio Stations and MTV....so what she did was, she released it on VHS and gave copies to fans, along with a book called sex, which showed lots of gender bender scenes.
he didnt forget it, he said he couldnt get every banned song in one video. there are plenty of other banned songs but he just chose the ones he wanted too 😑
@@lighttitan Words rarely mean what they mean.
Take me to church just infuriates people of worship but makes them feel bad at the same time but it is an absolute classic tho
Can you make a video of songs that sound bright or upbeat, but with dark lyrics?
Lil Nas X is one of the last true rock stars we have left. Folks be getting offended over nothing these days, I thought the record was pretty cool.
I couldn’t agree more with you. I think Joyner Lucas makes good music too so I am bummed that he said what he did to Lil Nas X, Lil Nas X is definitely a modern rock star and I hella support him
@@college54114 Right on man, he's the closest thing we have to a David Bowie, a true artist who keep reinventing himself one album to the next.
@@college54114what he said wasn’t even that bad he just said he disagreed
Slayer angel of death was a controversial song due to its lyrics
And the connection to Nazism, as that was Joseph's Mengele's nickname
i love when u say ice t and put a ice cube video hahahahaha
6:05 METH WE ARE ON IT!
0:43 a young what, matty? 🤨
12:11 The entirety of the Grand Theft Auto Online community has left the chat
I saw Crowbar live, they were incredible and, played "Cop Killer" as an encore, this was probably 10 or 20 years ago now, so well after they put that record out. I do also remember that whole scandal because, my father was a police officer and, it was a really big deal for all those guys, I don't remember him handing out any bannings of WB though.
They think that lil nas X song was controversial, its just because the time has unfortunatly changed, and now if someone would release a song like tenacious D or something more controvsrsial he would definitly will be blocked
hey matt
hey
13:20 "Ice tea said..." bro that's Ice Cube. lol.
I really don’t understand the hate behind montero. Who cares if an artist chooses to portray certain imagery in their art? It’s not their responsibility to cater to every listener
Especially if children will listen to it
it's because he's gay, doesn't matter how people wanna bounce around it, it's because he's gay.
But of course that's not what the angry pastors focus on.
and if kids are exposed that’s on their parents.
There might be separation of church and state in the US, but culturally the so-called Christians
still act like they still have a complete iron grip on society. For a loving God, they sure hate a lot
people get so triggered nowadays if they believe somethings targeting their kids, and that's making it real easy for those people to get brainwashed
Just by reading the title i knew Fuk da police was gonna be mentioned 😂
i misread the line on 1:32 and thought it said, "78 law enforcement officers were [censored by youtube]."
Snider being an absolute class act. Frank Zappa was present too IIRC, he was the finishing blow
Could've brought up how the first few Cannibal Corpse albums were banned in Germany for years. Also, the only way to listen to Cop Killer is by having an OG press of the album, or going to RUclips ofc. Luckily i have an og CD press of the album.
Literally any Cannibal Corpse songs can be on here
In Fight Music by D12 the member kuniva makes a reference to Rodney King and Rodney King’n somebody
The goverment banned the song to try and get rid of it but all they did was immortalize it, crazy ironic.
Guy who does know genre well here, Heavy Metal & Metal are identical.
However, the former COULD have an alternate meaning for more Groovy & Melodic Metal from 1960-1979 like Black Sabbath & the sound associated with them.
Besides that, I'd simply say there's no difference at all. (Now There's dozens of genres of Metal alone, hall I begin naming them all!?!? LOL it's an exercise in human nature, establishing a genre).
I'm surprised Marilyn Manson didn't get any honorable mentions, or Eminem. Or even twisted sister.
what you meant was at 6:28 "they even talked about it on "the news"" heavy quotation on "news"
Do a Part 2!
90s dancehall was so controversial you can't actually pin point a specific artist because all of them were saying battyman fi dead
Battyman is slang for gay guys
13:21 - yo that is Ice Cube not Ice T - might want to correct that.
