I think the theme fit him. You have to compare the instrumentals that he came in on, transformed, went hard, and then died. His transformations were always loud with brass horns. Sounds triumphant. His entrance was pretty somber with acoustic guitar and wind instruments because Clive was ready to give up. He showed up when Clive needed him the most. And now he leaves as Clive finds the will to move on, passing the torch and title of "Cid". 😭 It's how I saw it atleast...
The combat of this game was worked on by the combat director of DMC5. So yes, the combat is DMC but the story and world is all Final Fantasy. I dont think combat determines how "Final Fantasy a game is when all the Final Fantasy games have had different combats. Also, FF hasn't been turned-based on over 10 years.

This isn’t a sad moment, it’s a true to moment character scene. Cid is realizing the way he lived (wanting to wish people to choose their death), has been flawed. Clive showed him this. Cid is having a moment of realizing that maybe it’s not their death people should choose, but the way they live. Cid has represented freedom in this story (freeing both Clive and Jill from their shackles) and this theme is used to represent CID’s own freedom- which is entrusting his hopes and dream to Clive. I think “Cid’s theme” being used in this moment is to show that Cid is being his real true self here. Cid knows that the world is gonna be good in Clive’s hands, thus the theme used is playful, hopeful, and overall comforting. Just like Cid himself.

i recommend u spend ability points in ur basic attacks first in ur skill tree, makes the combos and possible fighting styles more varied and fresh. so it doesnt get boring seeing the same combat animations all the time yk?
What you should do is use your Triangle (ranged) attack and just weave that in between every sword attack. It flows your sword attacks together and is meant to be used in between each hit of that 4 hit combo
You can't go wrong with hack n slash gameplay and it fits so well plus the heart, soul and identity of final fantasy is present within FFXVI which is something most games don't do when they make big changes to a game with deep history
After you press square press triangle then repeat this process until you do the full combo in all forms. Square and X does a thrust attack and holding square puts your sword on fire for a charge attack, on the ground, when you jumping and in the air
20:25 yea Typhon is the big pink guy in Dragon's Neck you fight with Ultros, the big purple squid guy, part of the hildy quests in ARR. They are from FF6.
Running though NG+ on final fantasy mode while watching these videos in between. This game is so special to me. Its amazing to be able experience it though others
I prefer normal dodge. You lose counterattacks with the berserk ring, and the animation from berserk dodges leaves you vulnerable afterwards so if you need to dodge multiple times back to back it can screw you.
Afro you can also use your limit gauge after you use all your abilities or some to charge them back faster. to like break their stagger meter so you can hit them with the stagger and then hit them with some of your harder hitting moves and then gauge so your normal combos after your run out of your moves do more damage
I definitely prefer the setting and characters of FFXVI and the gameplay and exploration of FFVII Rebirth. If those two could get on with it and make a baby I'd be ecstatic.

You might already know by this point but the best way to get damage from regular attacks isn’t 2 hits then fireball. It’s to time your square and triangle alternations for maximum combo length. So hot with sword then magic then sword then magic etc

And if you have charged slash unlocked you can chain that final burst into the charged attack. Essentially anything you can do, and have unlocked as a part of Clive’s Ifrit abilities becomes your kit whenever you become him. GGs on beating Typhon, and if you like the OST it gets even better from here. Had us thinking every song in this BGM was medieval type stuff, NAH

It makes sense as to why you draw up the comparisons of DMC, Street fighter etc because Ryota Suzuki who was the combat designer on Devil May Cry 5 not to mention a play tester for Street Fighter Alpha 3 worked on Final Fantasy 16.

I know you might not read Japanese, but I swear it makes sense here. I looked up Typhon and this game was my first introduction to him and he looked WAY different.
Combat is dmc for sure but the story the feels you get from the game is definitely final fantasy and I also believe some of the directors of dmc 5 made this

To your question at the beginning of the video I think as gamers a lot of us conflate gameplay with identity and that kind of thinking doesn't really work with anthologies like Final Fantasy. This game is incredibly Final Fantasy in terms of themes, elements, tragedy, etc but the gameplay is so far from what is usually associated with the series that people don't give it a chance. The game is incredible and even if it's hard to believe you haven't even come close to playing the craziest, tragic, and most anime parts of the game yet.

honestly I stopped using it after a bit because of the new animation, especially since its so easy to get perfect dodges it was kinda annoying.
It's very fkn hype but against Odin it's bad since he has alot of quick follow ups so it's better to normal precision dodge

You can dash toward an enemy and chain into a combo in Eikon and normal fights with x + square if you have the ability unlocked
