    For a quick fix, I have used the tiny Barbie rubber bands to keep the arms from being swingy! Push the bands in with a small tool! Love your method too!

    I tried the swingy arm remedy on my Skipper, and it worked like a charm. I used hot water to make the plastic pliable again! You are a miracle worker! Thank you so much for sharing your fix-it knowledge about how plastic and rubber work! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    My daughter has newer Barbie dolls and some of their arms and legs are loose. They're a little more articulate than the older Barbies, but the plastic isn't even the same as the older dolls. The quality of Barbies, in my opinion, decreased since maybe the mid 2000s, so this method may not be effective with the newer, cheaper quality Barbie dolls. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @tinytinkerbell565
      @tinytinkerbell565  Год назад +3

      Honestly, I don't collect any of the newer dolls. I focus mainly on restoring/repairing the older Barbie & friends. Maybe I'll pick up a few dolls one day and start tinkering with them and see if I can come up with anything helpful .. :)

    I tested this on a standard 1999 belly button barbie. It does not work on these bodies in case anyone is curious. It melted the plastic of the armpit area. Inside is different from a vintage barbie... there's a mechanism inside the joint so this method will not work on belly button barbie

      Definitely try the method on a "donor doll" before trying on a doll you care a lot for... I focus mainly on the vintage Barbies/friends so I don't have much repair info on the newer dolls. However, I may get a few and start messing with them and see what I come up with :)

      The same process works on the ken arms. when you reattach them heat the arm hole very quickly first then put them back on.

      Hi Mich, I'm not sure if a hair dryer would get hot enough.. Maybe if you heat it for a while, perhaps it can.. just be very careful because it will become very hot to hold as the plastic heats up..

    • @tinytinkerbell565
      @tinytinkerbell565  Год назад +1

      You have to warm the head up.. BUT if you use heat it could take out curls or set the hair however you're holding is.. SO, if you do use heat (like from a blow dryer) be sure to wrap the head completely (face included) except for the neck hole.. hope this helps :)

    My gal recently bought some old Barbies at a great price, upon further review, the 1963 bubblecut Barbie has a few fingers chewed off. We also have the 1964 Midge and her arms are fine. My question is the arms and skin tone look almost the same, can i switch the arms, because i know the 63 Barbie is more collectible than a 64 Midge, thanks for a great to do video.

    • @tinytinkerbell565

      Yes, you should be able to switch them.. be sure to heat the arms first so you don't break the arm hole :)
