- Recently, I have seen a lot of clients come into the shop and they are wanting finger tattoos. It's crazy, but there are some things you should actually consider before getting finger tattoos.
Don't worry, though. I am here with some tips and some of those considerations you should be thinking about.

Had my finger tattooes for over 10 years. Only colors have faded, the black is still there🤗

I did my own finger tats with the traditional hand poke method and I did not hurt nearly as much as my ankle tattoo. I did them in July and have had to do a few touch ups since then as I'm a housekeeper at a hospital and wear gloves and wash my hands often. But I love my tats and don't mind doing the touch ups

I didn't realise blow out was common on finger tattoos, that's really helpful advice
I just got my finger tattoo on my middle finger today and it didn’t hurt that much it’s my first tattoo so maybe I don’t know how other parts feel but if it feels less then this then I won’t be scared to get my next

I got my finger tattoo on the side of my ring finger, my artist was so sweet and he said he touch it up when it’s healed. He went over it 4 times just to make sure enough ink was penetrated

Bro, I've done my fingers five times since I started tattooing. They fade, the ink is really difficult to lay down clean and crisp. I've done a number of finger or hand/wrist tattoos and they all fade. Sometimes they don't take. If you don't have the setup to tattoo your fingers yourself, then be prepared. I work with my hands all day everyday, but I have a studio and I can tattoo left or right handed. Good video, man. I've had people ask me to do some crazy stuff on the back of the hand or across the fingers and knuckles...I won't do it because first of all the phone rings for touch-ups, complaints, or they whine and snivel because it hurts. It's a difficult region as is, without somebody flinching and jumping around. From my experience, you have to use a smaller RL just to get the lines close to being right, so shading is even more painful. If I have a 1203 RL on my machine and am doing black lettering...guess what...I'm not changing out a cartridge to fill in some block lettering, numbers, etc. You're 100% on this subject. That's why I never had fingers inked until I could do it myself. I've disliked every minute of it and that's me working on my own stupid self. Do they look good? Yeah, they do, but I have the luxury of stepping in my studio and doing it myself...if it's a trainwreck, it's my trainwreck.
A. MEN. I’m picky about what I tattoo on fingers and it’s the only spot I don’t offer a free touch up.
I just got a finger tattoo on my ring finger as a coverup from an old tattoo. It’s a butterfly shaded in with black ink. Just took the plastic off and put ointment on it. Hope it heals well! Thanks for the tips

just got a finger tattoo a few days ago, along with an arm tattoo..& I love it!
I know I’ll have to do a touch up, but I Loveee it sm sm I don’t mind lol

I want to get a simple heart outline on the top part of my finger in the space above my main hand knuckle. I’m fully aware that it will need to be touched up every few months or so, or I could be lucky and be one of few people who get lucky and have their hand/finger tattoo not fade after a long period of time. But I don’t mind having to have it touched up though, it’s not a surprise and something I expect.
That’s the mindset to have!
I've had all my fingers tattooed "L I V E" "L I F E" , and they've been there 13-15 years, they've faded a good bit but are totally legible and kept there shape for the most part.
I need to re-do the outlines, the grad-shade, and fill in any holidays that I have. Considering outlining each with different colour , just to make em 'pop' again.
Got a new machine, starting with the space between my middle and lower finger joint/knuckles. Prob ☆ @ ♡ $ #
I have a heart with my husband's initials inside of it in the same spot you are talking about, between the top and middle knuckle, and it hasn't faded at all over the last 3 years. Also have several other finger tattoos (6 in total) and only one of them has faded. So it just depends on the artist as well as have a simple design in all black.
I get my middle finger left hand right hand wrist tattoo the right others ear neck area lol iv been doing so much look up lol
I just got my first 4 lol finger tattoos and out of the 4 on needs to be retouched to basically retatto bottoms half of it! I know it’s not the artist doing a bad job because all my other tattoos are well done and pigmented! What are the odds that the one that hurt the most is the one that needs the most touch up work 😭 but I love them and I would do it all over again!

@@B-squiggy It healed great one tiny spot of ink was removed from the scab phase of the healing process but it's still dark in color and so far so good! I hope yours heals and stays true to color! 💕 Blessings
In 4 sessions [7 hours] purely on my fingertips, doesn't just feel like someone's tattooing your bone but it feels like someone has a tiny buzzsaw and is going through the bone very slowly. Best way i can explain the pain, this is coming from someone who had 5 exposed nervs for 7 months as well im amazing with pain.
But yeah dont expect free touch ups, my good friends doing mine and i still pay him everytime or ill feel bad lol.
he offers free touch ups too, but like you say its almost insulting when you know its a multiple session job.
Just got all 4 fingers done. All the color fell out within 7 days but the black is still there
How do we get into tattoos and providing dainty finger tattoos?
I got my fingers done 2 months ago and got a sunburn on week 3 but i came out quite nice, only a small line thats has faded.
Fingers is by far the most painful tattoo i have.
That crazy cuz I honestly think fingers are the least no pain at all

Still get it if that’s what you want. I just wanna make sure people are aware of some of the draw backs and/or downsides.
Is it true that some people’s skin is just really bad for tattoos? I have very pale, freckly, Irish skin. Think: Conan o’Brian pale and freckly.
My skin is also incredibly STRONG. For instance, when I was 18 and had my belly button professionally pierced, the VERY big and strong piercer (built like a linebacker) could NOT get the needle through my “bulletproof” skin. After completely working up a sweat, and only making it halfway through, he took a break before coming back in and leveraging his body on the table to get it the rest of the way through.
Also, even though I’ve had many pregnancies and plenty of ups and downs with weight, zero stretch marks. My skin is just really tough.
I only have two tattoos, and neither of them are great. But I think that my skin was actually hard for them to work with.
What do you think? Is some skin just harder to tattoo than others?
Dude my ring finger is so swollen. How do I make it stop. Lol thanks in advance. I've got a full femur tattoo, 3/4 right arm sleeve , and several others my finger on the top, is still swollen, its been two days and annoying lol. Sos dude much love & God bless from North Louisiana!
Hey I just got a hand poked finger tatoo yesterday. and the plastic covering came off, can I use seran plastic wrap to cover it for 3-4 days ?
No. You can just leave it uncovered. If you used Saniderm or Tegaderm, you can buy some online or at Walmart. Saran Wrap and Saniderm/tegaderm are NOT the same thing.
You can go look at one of my Aftercare videos and just take care of you tattoo that way.
Would on top of the finger be better or on the outside/inside for fading wise or is it all the same

Hand n finger tattoos heal like crap for the most part. I have over 25+ tattoos and the hand/fingers just don’t play nice. Artist essentially went over all of what he did first session around, so it’s considered more than just a touch and still … mixed results.
First time around, A&D for 4 days, then Lubriderm. Resuming cardio after 96 hours from the session prolly did damage.
Second time around, saniderm for 6 days n purposely wore a hand brace as to not flex my fingers. No gym in that time, then lubriderm after 6 days. Resumed light cardio. Results are so/so as certain spots on fingers just won’t take …
That sounds about right…
I just hate the fade. I have to go get touch ups every 6 months just to keep it looking dark.

Hi I got a small hand tattoo a 3 days ago i got 4 days off then go back to work on day 5 and im a butcher we wear cotton gloves and latex over how should i go about covering and working while it heals?
If you could get some Saniderm or Tegaderm, that might be really helpful.

Nope, just make sure it is dry before applying. If you watch my video about applying Saniderm, it is the same concept. Hope that helps!!
I got my finger tattoos done today…. It was the least painful tattoo I’ve had done, I wish they could all hurt that less.
But I think that’s because I have chunky fatty fingers lol
Hmmmm…I only have one finger tattoo and I don’t remember it hurting that bad.
I've recently had all my fingers tattooed with viking runes down to the tips above the nail, my artist did them hand poked as he said the ink will go in better but still had to go back a few weeks later for a few touch ups but they are in the skin good now.
When I'm out and about, I apply sunscreen to exposed tattoos every two hours. After I get my finger tattoo, I'm gonna carry a stick of broad spectrum SPF 50 everywhere I go, and put it on it every 2 hours that I'm in the sun.
Mine is fading and peeling after one week. I know that you can put ceramic plastic on your tatts once you get them but is it the same thing with finger tattoos? The one that’s fading already is a cursive B on my ring finger. I’m going to get it touched up but is there any advice you could give me on how to make sure this doesn’t happen next time?
Don’t get it on your finger is my advice. Finger/hand tattoos are notorious for fading and not holding ink well. Honestly, you will just have to get it touched up a few times until it stops fading out.

Creases on your knuckles are the worst never felt pain like it I’m heavily tattooed sleeves legs ankles top of the hands etc etc but I do not advise the creases of your knuckles 😩

Do it!! Every one handles pain differently. Honestly, she probably didn’t pass out due to pain…she could have held her breathe, not eaten, thrown herself into a panic…there’s more likely reasons. Fight through the fear and go get that tattoo.

Good video! I’m a tattoo artist of 20 years and even when you tell clients this, they still want what they want, what i don’t understand is when you tell them all this, and they call you in two weeks complaining that the ink fell out, and you feel like say no shit! I warned you of that! Lol
The ink fell out? I’ve never met anyone whose ink fell out.

My ring finger was actually my first (well my second, but I got two when I first turned 18 lol) tattoo and surprisingly didn’t really hurt as much as I thought it did.
I was gonna do my knuckles with a letter on each for a phrase, but I was gonna ask. Should I get both hands done all in one sitting?
Honestly, it’s all personal preference. Personally, if I knew what I was going to get, I’d get it all done in one sitting.
I am wanting to get a simple colored floral ring on each of my fingers on my right hand, one for each of my kids.
My thought process is to do a more “water color” type style so any blowout and maybe even the fading between touch-ups would look more intentional.
Does this seem like a reasonable concept to you? Or am I way off base?
Theoretically that would work. However, the execution is a different story. I’m not saying it can’t be done or is impossible to do, I’m just saying there is a chance it might not come out how you want it. BUT, I don’t have any experience with watercolor tattoos on the fingers.

Just go for it. Know that you might have to get it touched up.

I want knuckle tattoo if it fades it fades. I just want my hand to say "unicycle" nothing complicated and im not a picky fuck. My gf has finger tattoos and some fade more than others. She goes in to get touch ups while she gets tattoos so it works well for her. Im stoked. I know its going to hurt but thats part of it. Also i have suspicion that some people dont take ink as well as others because ive had a lot of work done over the years and ive never gone in for a touch up anywhere. I feel as they age they tell the timeline of your story and the more new they look the more recent the story is and someone could read your body like a timeline. Idk everyones different but A LOT OF PEOPLE GET THE SAME LAME ASS TATTOOS HAHAHA. dont be that person.

Kneecaps also suck! People, if you want this type of work to come out well, you also have to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize....the more you moisturize, the better the result. Dudes, I know, you don't want to get on that lotion unless you're punching the one-eyed clown, but it's a must. It's a great thing to do if you have work scheduled with an artist...period. Running lines on shoe leather isn't pretty. So lotion up! Flog the dolphin a couple extra times the week before you jump in the chair...

Dry as in, don’t soak it like when you wash the dishes? Or dry as in, don’t wash with warm water and soap?
