I have a friend that has developed mad skills using a technique he calls solar pyrography, where he uses different magnifying lenses to burn his artwork into different projects he creates. The detail and shading is unmatched by the use of woodburners. He just sits on the beach and creates unbelievable pieces in a very short time and always has a crowd watching him. Rarely does he bring any of his work home, they sell before he even finishes them. I've seen him walk away with $2200 in just 4 hours!
Jon Rothenbusch yes, I've seen a couple of works done with that technic but never seen a live piece. Must have a great skill and patience. Would love to see some of that work. Does he have a site?
Ricardo Coelho sorry, he has no website or even a cell phone, he's a beach bum. I just know him from Kahena beach on the Big Island. He lives in a tenthouse off grid. I often wonder what he does with all the money he makes!
Outstanding as usual, Richy. One excellent touch in this project was you taking advantage of the different colours of wood at the laminate line. It gives the whole picture extraordinary depth.

I like that one it seems to flow alot better then most .and how it shades without having to switch tips constantly. I keep having to switch using pliers to remove the tip ..
Thank you. I usually do most of the work with the shading tip and almost the same temperature. You probably use one that has brass tips. My first ones where like that also and did a lot of work with them. These are just more practical. I even asked a friend to make me a temperature regulator for one of them and it worked. I still have it.
This machine costs about $112.95. 338.435,00 pesos plus shiping. I don't know what voltage you have in Colombia. If you can tell me that I can see if I can help you with the order.
+Matt McLellan you should try but I must warn you, it's very adictive. :D Start with a cheaper machine to see if you like the Art the upgrade if you can. Where are you from?
Good question. After the burning is done you must seal the wood and apply polyurethane to protect the work. It must not be on direct sunlight and that's it. I personaly use polyurethane but you can use a varnish or something else to protect your work.
PLEASE READ TO THE END... Did you free hand that or did your have at least a very light outline. If that was all free handed I wish I could pay you for lessons in pyrography and technique because you have an incredible talent. I am a power carver and artist and can draw pretty much anything with any medium especially charcoal or colored pencil, but I am a huge multi media fan and I love carpentry and wood working as well as resin projects and polymer clay projects, glass etching as well as rough gem stone faceting and cabbing and hand made jewelry and power engraving gemstones and agate that I have shaped and cabbed myself, and recently even 3D printing with all kinds of finishings (that was a fun process learning PLA and plastics that have been melted into a formed and printed object do not carve quite the same as wood glass or other plastics), along with my art just on canvas or canvas paper with custom power carved and routed frames, Since now have gotten pretty good at power carving and can free hand most things except on projects for clients I usually use a stencil for letters considering I am not using scrap plywood to do their engravings and especially since its usually done at the end of a completely built piece, if you know what I mean but carving and maybe painting the carvings or doing resin inserts have been great I just felt the pieces that were carved and painted or had any kind of resin added needed something to make it pop. Believe it or now until December of this past year I worked 55 hour weeks and most of my projects that I did were either just a hobby or sold to raise money for two charities I have been self funding for 3 years now. Well now I am unemployed (was laid off) and the job market is harsh!!!... so I have to make this a full time gig in order to pay my bills and keep my charities going that are VERY dear to my heart as they benefit or give back to two things that literally saved my life. SORRY FOR RAMBLING HERES THE POINT. I am just getting into pygroaphy. I made the mistake a of picking up a cheap non adjustable soldering iron looking kit off amazon and its miserable to work with and the tips are incredibly hard to work with and I could basically do the same thing with this worthless tool as heating up different screwdrivers, rotary bits, and other tools with a torch and get the same effect. Did you teach yourself this? What is a good pyrography machine that's not thousands of dollars that is a good choice similar to yours with the pen and wire style adjustable temp machine? Preferably in the 50-200 (paypal payment accepted 50-500 range where amazon pay is accepted) as I can upgrade at a later time but something that isnt going to be a piece of junk right out of the box and break on me. Is there any machines/kits on ebay or amazon or any place that takes paypal that you would reccomend because I have pay over time credit lines with them both and it is not necessarily needed if the machine is under 200 but it makes it easier when you have 6-12 months to pay for something like this when you are on unemployment. (I WONT HOLD YOU TO IT IF IT BREAKS BUT IM GUESSING YOU KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A MACHINE WHERE AS I DO NOT) -- I would really like something as cheap as possible right now as funds are limited but I think this could bring a whole new dimension to pieces I sell and raise a lot more money for my charities- ( and help me pay the bills obviously) Are their any books, websites other tools (tips i should buy that will make things easier), videos, - i have subscribed to your channel- or specific woods that are easier to start with? I am sorry to burden you with this but I could see no stencil but I know when I stencil they are ever so light and fine but it looked to me like you free handed that and that is why I am asking you. Your talent is amazing and you must know what you are doing and as artists especially ones that work with wood, most of the time but not always you get what you pay for. I really hope you will respond. I hope you have a fantastic day and if you actually have read this entire comment, bless you and thank you in advance if you respond because even with short questions most people dont respond Sincerest Regards, Tori
Hi Tori. Thank you very much for your comment. I fully understand what you say because I also like to change between types of art. I also paint in watercolor, oil, draw, tapestry, etc. I don't know nothing about carving or engraving gemstones but I also worked with polimer clay and make some jewelery. As for this project (and all the others) I stencilled the drawing. It saves me time, it's just because of that. I did thaught myself pyrography with the help of videos and some books. Because I have an art background I supose it made things easier for me, I don't know. What matters to me is that I really love doing this. For what I could understand you also have an artistic background and a lot of experience so I think you won't have much problem learning this. The machine I used here is a Razertip but there are other machines much cheaper and as good as this one. Do you live in europe or in the US? I ask you this because of the voltage of the machine (110V or 220V). I had this machine wich is very good: www.bastelfritze.de/en/Pyrography-Station-Brenn-Peter-Junior-electronic.html I also recomend this one that is also a high end machine and much less expensive: www.gregdorrance.com/optima-wood-burner-p-2998.html In this website you have other machines like the Colwood machine that is also very good: www.gregdorrance.com/wood-gourd-burners-power-units-sets-c-648_664.html If you have any question I can help you with feel free to ask. (I did read the entire comment and I always answer everybody unless it is a hater comment or something idiot)
Amazing work, very well done. I am trying some Pyrography and would like to ask you a question if you don’t mind. I have an old Russian wood burner (uzor1), don’t know if you herd of it, I burn on some soft-ish wood now(I think is birch, not sure) but. The tool is doing uneven line, some places burned it thicker with browning it around and some are thinner. It’s pretty basic so shading is very hard. My question is - Do you think the tool is not right or the wood for it to make the like sometimes dotty? Also, where I could get a burner like yours in Europe and what wood do you use here or recommend? Thanks for the video by the way, from people like you I learn! Happy Holidays!
Hello Emiliya. Thank you very much for your comment. I don't know that machine. The problem you talk can have various sources. It can happen because of the wood grain. The darker areas are usually harder than the brighter areas. If you use birch this shouldn't happen because the grain is also soft. Try to know what type of wood you're using if possible. Amazon sells birch plywood at a good price: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CLIY09A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1U5J9YNW9EKBO&psc=1 This problem can also happen if the temperature on your machine is not constant. Does it have temperature control? If not you can, for example blow the tip before start burning so that it cools down a little or use a piece of scrap wood and try the tip a couple of times before using it in your actual work. The burning machine I use in this video is a Razertip SS D10. Here is the link to all the official European dealers: www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zqXSiEfH_x9c.kC3JIeXaJnJo You also have many other options at more accessible prices. For example the Brenn Petter Junior machine: www.bastelfritze.de/en/Pyrography-Station-Brenn-Peter-Junior-electronic.html It's much less expensive and is also very good. It's the one I had before this one and I really loved it. You can also make your own tips and the pens are smaller than the razertip ones. Are in fact more handy and have cork to prevent the heat to get to your hands. Besides these two I don't have any more experience with this type of woodburners but you have many more brands you can search for like: - Colwood Detailer Burner - Peter Child pyrography machine - Optima 1 - Burnmaster Eagle Hope this helps. If you have any more questions I can ask feel free to ask. Happy Holidays.

How many years u took to learn this burning wood art
How many years u took to learn this burning wood art
I've been doing pyrography for about 4 years now.
I still have it.
i just discovered an awesome way to draw on wood pretty nice job and beautifully done
Thank you so much. I'm sure you'll love it. If you need any help feel free to ask. I try to do as much tutorials as I can.
Wow this is very beautiful !
RedMonkeyKiller9 Thank you very much.
ajudou bastante. trabalho com aço inoxidável e osso, mas quero muito trabalhar com couro e madeira. Gostaria muito de manter é ter seu contato.

In this project I used a Razertip SS D10.
Cheers.
Nice job! Is that the interchangeable tip pen?
Thank you. Yes, it is. :)
You are amazing bravo mate...!!! You rock...!!!!)
Wow. Thank you so much. :)
You’re so good that you make it look easy. Bravo!
Thank you very much. :)
Wow....you have an amazing talent and I thoroughly enjoyed watching your creation appear before me!
Kerry Comstock thank you very much. Apreciate your comment.
que cuesta el Pyrography en pesos colombiano y en que tienda se consigue en Colombia por favor
This machine costs about $112.95.
338.435,00 pesos plus shiping.
I don't know what voltage you have in Colombia.
If you can tell me that I can see if I can help you with the order.
This is dope keep up the good work 👍
+Justin Muñoz I have to confess that it is adictive. Lol. Thank you so much.
that draw is a beauty !! congrats :D
Thank you very much Leonardo.
Interesting, never heard of this stuff before. Very nice
+Matt McLellan you should try but I must warn you, it's very adictive. :D Start with a cheaper machine to see if you like the Art the upgrade if you can. Where are you from?
This is so good I'm going to tattoo this on me, I'm a Taurus anyways.
+Aaron Noel really? Wow. That's an amazing compliment. Thank you.
Que legal essa técnica de desenho, parabéns ao artista!!!
+Eduardo Ferreira muito obrigado pelo apoio.
Un gran trabajo, una obra de arte
Muchas gracias Claudio. :)
Does that draw or burn perminantly?
I hope you have a fantastic day and if you actually have read this entire comment, bless you and thank you in advance if you respond because even with short questions most people dont respond
Sincerest Regards,
Tori
I had this machine wich is very good:
www.bastelfritze.de/en/Pyrography-Station-Brenn-Peter-Junior-electronic.html
I also recomend this one that is also a high end machine and much less expensive:
www.gregdorrance.com/optima-wood-burner-p-2998.html
In this website you have other machines like the Colwood machine that is also very good:
www.gregdorrance.com/wood-gourd-burners-power-units-sets-c-648_664.html
If you have any question I can help you with feel free to ask.
(I did read the entire comment and I always answer everybody unless it is a hater comment or something idiot)
The mild lighting is better then the very bright lighting.. but still looks good in both.
Thank you very much.
The music sounds like it's straight out the movie "Napoleon dynamite"😂😂
+Marley Isaac lol. The musics I use are free from the RUclips creator. Don't have much choice...
ricardo esse trabalho pra ser feito em uma base de atabaque ficaria quanto +ou - ?
Olá Denis. Eu levaria uns €20 sensivelmente.
obrigado pela resposta.
Amazon sells birch plywood at a good price:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CLIY09A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1U5J9YNW9EKBO&psc=1
This problem can also happen if the temperature on your machine is not constant. Does it have temperature control? If not you can, for example blow the tip before start burning so that it cools down a little or use a piece of scrap wood and try the tip a couple of times before using it in your actual work.
The burning machine I use in this video is a Razertip SS D10. Here is the link to all the official European dealers:
www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zqXSiEfH_x9c.kC3JIeXaJnJo
You also have many other options at more accessible prices.
For example the Brenn Petter Junior machine:
www.bastelfritze.de/en/Pyrography-Station-Brenn-Peter-Junior-electronic.html
It's much less expensive and is also very good. It's the one I had before this one and I really loved it.
You can also make your own tips and the pens are smaller than the razertip ones. Are in fact more handy and have cork to prevent the heat to get to your hands.
Besides these two I don't have any more experience with this type of woodburners but you have many more brands you can search for like:
- Colwood Detailer Burner
- Peter Child pyrography machine
- Optima 1
- Burnmaster Eagle
Hope this helps.
If you have any more questions I can ask feel free to ask.
Happy Holidays.
Pyrography shading looks so nice... maybe it's just me haha
+Cloudy Breh Thank you. This work has a couple of years but, at the time I was happy with the result. I'm glad you liked it.
I'll be sure to check out your other stuff! Keep doin what you do man
Amazing skill. Sheer magic.

Hi. Thank you very much. If there's anything I can help, feel free to send me an email. Have fun.
@@richypyrography "Oh, Thank You. There are a lot of things I don't know yet, this is a very interesting activity for me. Thank you again. P.S. (I apologize for my possibly inaccurate English)
Damn, incredible.
+Medi BOUÉ Thank you.
Thanks for making my portrait. it’s very accurate, apart from the nose ring which i don’t wear anymore.
Hi Juan. Thank you. I also took some of my piercings lately. hehehehehehe
Beautiful. Wonderful. Congratulations. Very nice video.
Your work is absolutely stunning.
Thank you so much Sarah. You are very kind. 😊🤗🤗
Doesn't it stink when Ur doing that?
j m not really. It doesn't release much smoke. There are woods that actually release a very sweet odor when burned.
Ricardo Coelho Ah ok thanks for letting me know! :)
What is this in your hand I am watching for the first time
Richardo if i want to give u a order how should i give
Rohan Mishra please send me an email to richypyrography@gmail.com
Thank you.
Nice!! Talented!
Ismael Barba Thank you very much.
Awesome work
Thank you Rao. :)
which tool that is u r using..name?
I'm using a Razertip SS D10.
Where can I get a pirografo like your friend?
This one can be bought at the razertip website:
www.razertip.com/pyrography.htm
Or at the european dealers if you're in europe.
However I would recomend a cheaper one to get started and see if you like to do this.
Ricardo Coelho thanks friend
That's really cool
Thank you Rowdy.
Richy is a great artist. I also do the pyrography and just started the channel, but my technique is a little different.
