This scene is interesting because a lot is hinted at rather than said. Lois mentions Clark's article and immediately mentions 'the part about the girl back home'. I think reading about Lana in the article set off Lois' alarms, and she wants to interrogate him about it over lunch to see if she has a problem. It turns out she does have a problem, but Lana's already flanked her and bypassed her defenses. Note Lana makes a point of making sure Lois sees that ring immediately, a nice good look. Then Lana makes a point of emphasizing that "Clark gave it to me". That tells me that Lana's been asking around and already knows where her primary competition is, and she wanted to serve notice immediately: 'I'm taking my old boyfriend back!'
Years later we see them again in a scene on Smallville season 4 episode 1. Annette was of course Martha Kent and Margot was Dr. Bridgette Crosby an emissary of Dr. Swann who Reeve played
I liked this scene because for the first time, it showed that Lois did feel something for Clark too, enough to be jealous that this hot newcomer had a nice ring from him. Still, I really like Lana more from these movies, though she only appeared in this one.

All of the Lana and Clark stuff is priceless. Lois come in, lets us know Clark is a good writer and steals the movie with one jealous look. In the Comic, the Superman love triangle with Lois and Lana was something that used to bother me. I felt they should liked Clark first. Having a Clark/Lois/Lana triangle was cool. Shame these subplots weren't in a better movie.
Even though Lois aged in this mo ie, she was cute when she was jealous of Lana. I was always a huge fans of Lois in Superman 1, 2, and 4. People say Lana is cutie than Lois, which might be true. However, you should have saw how Lois looked at the 1979 Oscars, gorgeous. If Lois looked that good in this film as she did in 1979, Lana would have more competition. I wish this movie was 20 minutes longer so we could see the rivalry build between the three of them. I would have put this clip in the middle of the film, right before Clark start changing into the mean Superman. This love triangle would have made this movie even better. God Bless.

Heh. My cousin always hated Lois Lane and loved this scene because she was jealous. I didn't like the "other" relationship, but it was sweet to see *Clark* developing a real relationship, and with someone who liked CLARK, not just Superman.
Lois was like the first attractive woman he met after 12 years in the Fortress of Solitude. I used to think he fell for her because she was a real go-getter or modern woman, (like Karen Allen's Marion from _Raiders of the Lost Ark),_ the like he didn't see in Smallville, USA.

Lois has real feelings for Superman not the same way she would have for Clark Kent, there's a difference. At 0:51 I can see a little bit of resemblance between a young Margot Kidder (Superman Movies Lois Lane) and Erica Durance (Smallville Lois Lane) If you give them the right hair and make-up. Also The guy who played Jimmy Olson (Aaron Ashmore) in Smallville Iooks a bit like the one in the 1950's Adventures of Superman Tv Show (Jack Larson) again If clothes and makeup are right. And Lana Lang as Martha Kent. Brilliant. So, in Conclusion, I think the Casting people for Smallville did a great job.

Much as I've always enjoyed Superman/Lois, as far as I'm concerned the Chris Reeves movies ended with S3, and Lana won. I don't acknowledge S4, and as far as I'm concerned, that was an engagement ring Clark gave his old girlfriend.
Even if Lois and Lana were into threesomes, that's a pureblood Kryptonian right there. The risk of him seriously hurting or even killing them both is too great, and I know he would not have been able to live with himself if he ever hurt either of them.
Yeah, what really downplayed this movie was the emphasis on humour. I mean, sure get a comedian to play a hacker in a movie but you don't have to syphon his every comedic abilities. As a third film this was in need of a little darkness, especially with the Superman turning evil thing. In fact my fav scene was the junk yard battle between CK and evil Superman. The whole film needed to be like that, explore that further. There was so much potential for awesomeness and a deep thought provoking film. Should have kept Donner. Should also have stuck as a trilogy, maybe marry Superman off with Lana who should already know he's CK.
Its a shame they didn't bring Annette O'Toole back for Superman 4! They could've brought her character back and it would've made an interesting storyline involving a love triangle with Lois, Lana and Clark. Annette O'Toole is clearly more beautiful than Margot Kidder. If you notice Clark isn't shy around Lana, he's more at ease and comfortable around her and Lana clearly has feelings for Clark. They had a mutual attraction and it would've been cool to see them become a couple.

However, my guess is the reason she's not seen anymore on Superman 4 is because she probably got laid off from the Daily Planet since David Warfield and his daughter Lacy Warfield took over the Daily Planet. I would have also loved if Gus Gorman got a job at the Daily Planet as the Daily Planet's computer worker since he was a expert computer person on this third film.
I agree buddy. Gus was actually a good guy all along plus saved Superman from death. He was just mixed up with the wrong crowd ala his bosses Ross and Vera Webster. Lorelei may have seemed like a ditz but actually she was very intelligent
Sure Lana was hotter. Lois / Margot Kidder (b. 1948) is a lot older than Annette O'Toole/Lana (b. 1952). In fact Margot is even four years older than Chris Reeve! By the third sequel Margot has obviously aged and perhaps the main reason they needed to include Lana Lang. Too bad coz Lois was best Lois Lane -- she showed right amount of spunk, humor, sexiness to the character. Producers just took soooo long to create a franchise. Also its the main reason a very young Lois for Superman Returns.
Lois was pushed out of this movie for Lana because Margot Kidder was angry about how the Salkinds had treated Richard Donner during the making of Superman II when they fired him and had Richard Lester finsh that film after major reshoots. Gene Hackman refused to come back for a third film and Kidder was so outspoken in her criticisms of the Salkinds, they limited her screen time. Christopher Reeve was contracted to do Superman III, so the Salkinds needed him.

I think they shouldn't have included Margot kidder in the movie at all if she was going to be cut off. If she was his girlfriend in superman 2 and they broke up because he had lost his powers it doesnt make sense to start dating someone else.

At 0:51 I can see a little bit of resemblance between a young Margot Kidder (Superman Movies Lois Lane) and Erica Durance (Smallville Lois Lane) If you give them the right hair and make-up. Also The guy who played Jimmy Olson (Aaron Ashmore) in Smallville Iooks a bit like the one in the 1950's Adventures of Superman Tv Show (Jack Larson) again If clothes and makeup are right. And Lana Lang as Martha Kent. Brilliant. So, in Conclusion, I think the Casting people for Smallville did a great job.
Martha Kent and Bridgette Crosby! She advised Martha to face Kal-El and provided a chunk of black kryptonite to free him of Kal-El and return to being Clark.

Much as I've always enjoyed Superman/Lois, as far as I'm concerned the Chris Reeves movies ended with S3, and Lana won. I don't acknowledge S4, and as far as I'm concerned, that was an engagement ring Clark gave his old girlfriend.

I hated it as a kid. Rewatching it now, it's not that bad, but still, it would have been better with more Lois and less Gus.
Clark should have kicked Perry out of the office, closed the blinds, and pull a three way with Lana and Lois right there.

Even if Lois and Lana were into threesomes, that's a pureblood Kryptonian right there. The risk of him seriously hurting or even killing them both is too great, and I know he would not have been able to live with himself if he ever hurt either of them.
Yeah, what really downplayed this movie was the emphasis on humour. I mean, sure get a comedian to play a hacker in a movie but you don't have to syphon his every comedic abilities. As a third film this was in need of a little darkness, especially with the Superman turning evil thing. In fact my fav scene was the junk yard battle between CK and evil Superman. The whole film needed to be like that, explore that further. There was so much potential for awesomeness and a deep thought provoking film. Should have kept Donner. Should also have stuck as a trilogy, maybe marry Superman off with Lana who should already know he's CK.
Its a shame they didn't bring Annette O'Toole back for Superman 4! They could've brought her character back and it would've made an interesting storyline involving a love triangle with Lois, Lana and Clark. Annette O'Toole is clearly more beautiful than Margot Kidder. If you notice Clark isn't shy around Lana, he's more at ease and comfortable around her and Lana clearly has feelings for Clark. They had a mutual attraction and it would've been cool to see them become a couple.
+bronxmatt1215 I agree, it's a shame that Lana was not seen again on Superman 4 since it's mentioned here that she got a job at the Daily Planet as Mr. White's secretary. However, my guess is the reason she's not seen anymore on Superman 4 is because she probably got laid off from the Daily Planet since David Warfield and his daughter Lacy Warfield took over the Daily Planet. I would have also loved if Gus Gorman got a job at the Daily Planet as the Daily Planet's computer worker since he was a expert computer person on this third film.
I agree buddy. Gus was actually a good guy all along plus saved Superman from death. He was just mixed up with the wrong crowd ala his bosses Ross and Vera Webster. Lorelei may have seemed like a ditz but actually she was very intelligent

Sure Lana was hotter. Lois / Margot Kidder (b. 1948) is a lot older than Annette O'Toole/Lana (b. 1952). In fact Margot is even four years older than Chris Reeve! By the third sequel Margot has obviously aged and perhaps the main reason they needed to include Lana Lang. Too bad coz Lois was best Lois Lane -- she showed right amount of spunk, humor, sexiness to the character. Producers just took soooo long to create a franchise. Also its the main reason a very young Lois for Superman Returns.
Lois was pushed out of this movie for Lana because Margot Kidder was angry about how the Salkinds
had treated Richard Donner during the making of Superman II when they fired him and had Richard Lester finsh that film after major reshoots. Gene Hackman refused to come back for a third
film and Kidder was so outspoken in her criticisms of the Salkinds, they limited her screen time.
Christopher Reeve was contracted to do Superman III, so the Salkinds needed him.

@Rainingagain1 That's not really a fair statement to say that A Hard Day's Night was shit...I agree it isn't that good, especially by today's standards. And the Beatles knew it wasn't great, because they weren't actors...they were musicians, and were being paid in the HEIGHT of Beatlemania to cash in on that phenomenon..I don't disagree that it isn't a great film..you're right. But looking back, it's really an interesing and nogalstic film..but shit? Time shows it was actually kind of decent.
The only thing that would make the Clark/Lana reunion sweeter is if it turned out that Clark and Lana had a last night together before he left for the big city and her son was actually Clark's.

I think they shouldn't have included Margot kidder in the movie at all if she was going to be cut off. If she was his girlfriend in superman 2 and they broke up because he had lost his powers it doesnt make sense to start dating someone else.
She didn't like the way the Salkinds treated Richard Donner when they fired him when he directed Superman 2 before Richard Lester who also directed this movie took over
