I'm born and raised in Sydney ...from 1959 till the day left to find a welding job in Halifax back in 1989. I didn't even have to travel any further to get a good, high paying welding job. I have been in Halifax ever since and now I'm 63, ready to retire, sell my home and move back to Sydeny and just relax with my brothers and fish a little bit. I love Downtown Sydney because my family owned a boarding and rooming house on Charlotte Street, right smack dab in the middle of "the drag" ... it was cool to stay there because on the weekends, all the cool, fast cars from around the area would show up in town and race around for everybody to see.
Thanx 4 the video. My very first real love was from Whitney Pier. We lived above Pier Taxi, kitty corner to Archie Nathanson's. I can never forget her. Sharon, you werealways in my heart. 💝😥
My great-grandparents are from N Sydney. It took a lot of guts to move away, right after World War II, from everything they knew to settle in California. As the camera drive through town, I imagine my great-grandmother walking in or out any of the stores.
Thanks for this video. It brings back so many memories of home, although it hadn't been that long ago since I was last there. The North End has so much character because most of those older homes are still standing;some even renovated and refurbished.
