And don't forget to enter the GIVEAWAY on Instagram for a custom skincare package instagram.com/p/BeGoNKJBQSy/?taken-by=rachhloves (I love reading your comments on here too but the easiest way to track and get a hold of subscribers is through Instagram so for now, that's where the giveaway will be). Good luck and thanks again for entering! PS: If you guys have any tips and tricks that I didn't mention that work really well for you, please let me know I want to learn more! :)
I didn't know how much I needed this video until I watched it. My foundation has been creasing a lot underneath my eyes, so I will definitely try your suggestions. I also got really scared at first when you cut the beauty blender in half but then I realized "wait, then you have two sponges, which is better than one for the price, will apply product better and will last twice as long! This is genius." Mind. Blown. 😅❤
Thank you so much! I really needed this video! Can’t wait to try your tips! Especially the cutting the Beauty Blender in half...(don’t have an actual beauty blender but hopefully the L’Oréal version will have the same effect)!
RachhLoves How can I keep my foundation from settling into my forehead lines (canyon craters)? It's my biggest problem and nothing I do or don't do keeps them from either being very obvious or being exaggerated by my makeup. Thanks!
Wow I can’t believe I never thought about how building up your foundation would work better. Like duh!! When you paint your nails you don’t just throw a fat glob on! You work in layers! Wow my mind has been blown.
Your top is giving me some serious spring vibes which is helping me forget about the piles of snow outside (thanks Canada 🙄), the colour is GORGEOUS! And these tips are awesome, easy to follow and I can’t wait to try them out!
This is a tip from me if someone wants it For my redness, I used a brightening face wash (mine is clean n clear it's yellow...) and I found that it works really well for me. I use it mostly in the morning cause it help with making my skin less dull I also always stroke upwards when I use my moisturizer (like on my neck and face) helps with lifting and I think something else but I dunno For me I have oily skin so I can't really use heavy moisturizers but I do use one only at night and I found it helps for the next day (especially since I sometimes have a weird dry tip of my nose) These are tips I can only think of right now...so yeah
Rachel, why no products from The Ordinary? So many people use it and we'd love to hear your take on them. They will be launching a couple new foundations soon and while so many other YTers cover their stuff, I trust you the most and would love to hear your opinion. Please? :)
If you don't want to cut up your Beauty Blenders, Real Techniques has two types of beauty sponges that have the flat edges on it. IMO the pink one is better than the orange one. I use it everyday to apply my foundation, concealer, and powder.
I thought this was a FABULOUS video very informative and helpful I have very dry under eyes and fine lines so I tend to not use ANYTHING under there but lately I’ve been doing concealer and spraying my brush or beauty blender with setting spray before going in and blending it out!!! Thanks for all your tips they were very legit and I know for a FACT that some do work!!! Thanks for sharing girl 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love the Physicians Formula elixir oil booster. I don't have the bottle on me for exact name but it's in the white bottle. I just can't afford high end products all the time so I make do at the drugstore. But i love the PF oil and use it the same way as Rachel does in the video. I also add the oil to the foundation and mix it together. My skin is taking a beating this winter. I'm 49 and live in PA. Damn it's cold. I will also add a drop to tip of sponge to blend in my concealer. I use that oil everywhere. Lol. Wake me in spring. Lol. Have a great day!!!
Amy Black ya wake me in summer hunny lol I use the WHOLE line of Neutrogena hydro gel creams I LOVE LOVE LOVE this line the eye gel is PHENOMENAL and it doesn’t leave the milia like thick creams do on the under eye I will look for that PF next time I get out it does sound nice!!! Hey I’m UP for ANYTHING thats gonna make me look better 😩😩🤦🏻♀️ thanks for the tip girl!!!!
Jennifer Kopenga I am going to try the eye gel now. Lol. I am still a big believer that there are fantastic products at the drugstore. I am enjoying the Garnier moisture rescue too. I use that under my other cream. That holds back the flakes on my cheeks I get from the heater blasting on me. I'm going out shopping today so I will pick up the eye gel. Thanks girl!!
I’m a long time viewer but I’ve never commented until now because you just SAVED ME from forever suffering from the dreaded cake-face and I am forever grateful!!Every year my skin goes from being an oil slick in the summer to weirdly oily yet somehow drier-than-Death-Valley in the winter which means my make up always looks caked on and doesn’t last for more than an hour before showing signs of oil breakthrough. I watched your video while applying my makeup today and did all of your tips. Not only did my makeup not crease or get cakey (is that a word? My phone says no...) but it lasted for HOURS before showing any signs of oiliness. My mind is blown. Thank you!
I thought I knew most of the techniques and tricks to Makeup, but I definitely learned a new one here today. I didn’t know about the powder in the lines before foundation. I’ve had a lot of medical issues in the last 20 years so I’m constantly trying to battle the damage to my face from all of the medications and illness. I literally look 10 years older than I should! So thank you for doing these videos with tips and products to help people like me, it’s so appreciated❣️
irule1021 oh my god same D: and then they wonder why it looks super cakey and creasy (or they run out of it in like, a month, which is terrifying to me). it might be because you're applying a truckload!!!
Please please PLEASE do a full in depth video on your skin care routine that you went over in this video. How often you use it, how much you use, how much time you wait in between applying each product, different overnight face masks. Your skin always looks so good without makeup (and obviously with makeup). A full in depth video of how you keep your skin looking flawless would be the best!
I've watched trillions of videos of avoiding cakey foundation but I never felt it would work until I watched yours. Amazing tips since I have dry skin.thanks and grateful 😍
I was just worrying about cakey foundation and how to combat it, and you come out with this video! Thank you Rachel! You've saved me! Now I'm going to go cut a beauty blender in half...
Love this so much!!!! I will be trying this! You are definitely one of my favorite beauty youtubers. I really like how you mix in drugstore products into your normal everyday look. Some youtubers will talk about drugstore products but then when they do tutorials or talk about their “holy grail” products they are all insanely expensive! I live how you have super affordable products and high end products!
I've been watching youtube videos for over three years and I think I learned more in this video then I have in the past three years! This is so helpful! I had stopped wearing setting powder because it made me dry and cakey so I'll have to try these tricks.
HOLY SMOKES!!! This video is a life changer! I've actually recently been put off doing my makeup because it just does not look good on my skin, especially my foundation. I would come home from half a day of being a uni, and I could literally wipe off my makeup right down to the skin with my finger. I've been wearing makeup for a few years now, but because my mum has never worn makeup in her life, basically all my cousins are male, and my friends aren't heavily into makeup I just went by it and thought I was doing it how I was meant to. I WAS WRONG! I'm gonna admit, I don't take care of my skin well at all. The only care it basically gets is me using a cleanser to remove makeup. That's it. I have no idea why at the beginning of all makeup tutorials that beauty youtubers do, why they aren't including how they prep their skin beforehand, because this clearly makes a whole lot of difference! Thank you Rachel sooooo much for showing this, I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from this video!
This is the best video I've seen for stopping creasing. I've pretty much stopped using foundation because my everything settles into my expression lines so horribly, but I'll have to give it another go!
Great tips Rachel! Love your videos. About my skin, I love that I've grown out of the teenager breakouts. As I've aged (with the tips from RUclipsrs) I've learned how to take better care of my skin. Would love to keep my skin from aging with me without regressing back to the teenager breakouts... Thanks for all you do Rachel.
You literally make my day Racheal!! The best part about my face is my eyebrows because they are very full looking and without any makeup they look like I’ve filled them in!! It gives me confidence when people ask me ‘have you filled in you brows?’ Btw I would love to win!!
So your videos have been popping up in my recommended videos for a couple months and I’ve been loving them. I recently subscribed and I’m so glad I did. I’m usually not a fan of these types of videos because I feel like there aren’t really any tips that are game changers but man this was so helpful! Here to stay 😄
Spraying the setting spray to a beauty blender is an awesome idea. I feel like everytime I use a setting spray, I'm taking a gamble with the way it will come out. Even sprays that have a nice mist can sometimes splurt out droplets to my face and those drops will show up and stay there for the whole day. It has a different sheen so it picks up light differently. I will definitely be using my setting spray like you do Rachel and one of my older beauty blenders is getting cut down the middle later today....muahhaha....lol
I love this video! I hate to admit it but my makeup routine consists of pretty much exactly the steps you did on your cakey/creased side! My life has changed with this!
I literally just watched Wayne Goss How to Stop Cakey Foundation video before this one. When you did the exact same things he did, and then said you learned this method from watching RUclips I couldn't help but wonder if it was Wayne you were speaking of. I love him! I love you too. 😘
Such great tips!! Since I turned 27 I’ve been dealing with really bad smile lines. I’m going to have to watch the video a few times to get everything but I really appreciate it!!
Thanks for the video. Old dog here trying to learn makeup for the first time (I’m 38) and I still cannot seem to stop getting cakey foundation. Maybe because my skin is dry? It just settles into all my fine lines and wrinkles. I look worse with makeup than without. I will just have to keep trying. But I’m looking forward to learning more from you!
Thank you sooooo much for this video!! This has been my biggest problem and I really appreciate you explaining everything instead of just assuming everyone knows how to already do it. I'm going to try these recommendations today and see if they help. You're the best!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve wondered what I’ve been doing wrong that makes foundation crease, and look cakey when others look flawless! Can’t wait to use these tips ❤️
somehow you made the exact video I needed to see today 😂 you literally used the exact foundation, concealer, and powder that I have. I did my makeup today and blended with a brush and thought it looked pretty cakey, and was planning on trying a beauty blender tomorrow instead. now I have all the perfect tips to make my makeup look great in the morning! what a coincidence lol thank you for this video!!!
Thanks for these awesome How To videos! They're going to be a great help as I learn how to use makeup myself. Even though I'm 25, and still don't know how to use makeup.
I really appreciate the tips! But I would really have liked to see a wear test with check-ins to demonstrate the visible differences, and show what to look for when assessing your own makeup application.
Subscribed. Thank you. I have been trying to figure out what was happening with my makeup. It was using the big fluffy brush trying to set my foundation. So happy I stumbled on this video.
omg thank you for this! I thought my makeup was just looking cakey because I'm on accutane and my skin is super dry. Then I got to the makeup application part of the video and I was shook to see I was doing almost all of the cakey things. Definitely trying these tips out, thank you so much!
Wow, ok can I just say when I read the drawing entry info and saw that you are asking us for a "positive"...I literally stopped for a minute, because #1 I've never heard anyone ask that before and second, I've never asked that of myself, and it is such an eye opener (lol no pun) I can think of a gajillion things to critique yet not one thing to admire, so here goes.....I am thankful that I no longer suffer from acne...and...that over all (except for my under eye area) I don't have much texture that pokes through under foundation. Rachel, thanks for having me stop and think for a minute!! I am working on not being a negative nancy about myself all the time :-) (if anyone's name is Nancy, I am not saying you are negative) :-)
Could you do a video of your drugstore and high end favorites for skincare and makeup? (Like your favorite drugstore vs high end foundation) also I loved this video, so helpful!
Thank you SO MUCH! I got so much out of this! The only thing I would add is that in a previous video you recommended using a Physician's Formula face oil. I took your advice and found that it helped a lot with the creasing under my eyes. I also used a Korean tea tree face oil and that has worked quite well too. I can't tell you how much these tips have really saved me from the creases!
I love that my skin is not dry- I believe being more on oily side of skins, will be easy the process of ageing. Something I would like to improve- have a bit less texture on my forehead.
This is really helpful! I’ve been having such issues lately with my foundation and having to keep starting over because it looks to heavy and cakey. Going to try this tomorrow!
Wow I wish I had this knowledge years ago! I’m excited to try these tricks tomorrow to see if it helps with my forehead creases from my over eccentric eyebrow expressions lol THANK YOU SO MUCH
Awesome video! My skin doesn’t break out much at all, however I have more fine lines under my eyes, smile lines and now forehead. I struggle with the cakey look a lot. I hydrate my skin every day, but I can’t figure out why my face cakes so bad...I will try your method with applying the foundation slower with the beauty blender and also fill in the fine lines with a small touch of powder before I apply foundation. I really really hopes this is the trick I’ve been looking for!!!!!! 🙂
Love that you do tips and tricks instead of only tutorials or hauls... literally want to go buy everything you just said 😂❤️😚 however the Milani primer gave me horrible cystic acne... do you have any recommendations for primer/ skincare for sensitive skin?
Molly Belew have you tried the Nyx primers? They have one for just about every skin type and concern, and most if not all are fragrance free, which is heaven for me since scented face products break me out in rashes and eczema. 😲 I didn't like that Milani primer only because for me it was loaded with micro glitter. Nope. No thank you.
I am enjoying the new Maybelline hydrating primer. The one Smashbox primer is nice too. I get the clear one. I bought the small size and it lasts a long time. I did buy the Flower Beauty hydrating spray but I HATED the bottle!! I would spray it and it never felt like it hit my face. I poured it into an old NYX dewy spray bottle and works fine now. I don't know if you're strictly cruelty free so I gave you a few different options. I also will use the Mario Badescu cucumber spray too. I did like the WNW photofocus primer too.
thank you so much for this!! i've always had the "cakey" side when i put on makeup and never knew why or how to fix it! this is so informative and helpful :)
I loved this video! I applied some of your tips to my makeup this morning and it helped so much! I cringed watching the video last night because I was unintentionally doing my makeup almost identically to how your creased side was. I even use the same foundation and Coty airspun powder. Not good! Much better today!!
Thanks so much for the video! Would you be able to do a video on how to go from the gym to school/work/out on the town? I am struggling right now with it because I commute to university and have to bring all my school stuff, makeup and clothes with me in my backpack! It would be awesome to know how you clean your skin after working out and what your go to makeup routine would be! Something simple but also really polished that doesn't require too many products because of space. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video! I didn't realize that there was anything I could do about my smile lines under a thicker foundation & I like the less is more approach with thick foundation
Girl this video is so informational! I appreciate all the tips especially with the grate shaptape since I am having problems with it caking under my eyes. Thanks a bunch!
Congrats on working with Indeed! They are a great and affordable skincare co. And how used the products are gives me a sense that you actually use them! 😀😘😘😘
Wayne Goss released a video like this and shared many of the same tips among others. Between this video and that one, you’re going to get some amaaaaazjng tips.
Hi Rachel, I just wanted to say thank you for your awesome videos. I watch them during the night when I am feeding my 11 week old son and they make the night feeds enjoyable! Lots of love from England ❤️😘
Rachh you are just fabulous!! I learn so much from your tutorial videos. I save them and refer back to them. Plus you’re hysterical!! Thanks so much!!!
Every time I watch your videos you make my day with your amazing personality! Thank you for being authentically you in this whole world of negativity ❤️
I have terrible under eyes and I feel like anything I try just makes them look worse but excited to try the skincare line! Thanks for the chance for the giveaway!! :D love this video!
I can't wait to try these tips. I'm about to give up on foundation for good because it always looks cakey. I usually think I look ok but for some reason as soon as I spray on a setting spray it looks horrible...
Man, I hate that so many giveaways or draws (not just you Rachel, I'm venting here, not trying to be mean) want you to have Instagram or Snapchat in order to enter... I'm trying to cut more social media out, as I find there's just too much negativity, and it gets to my head, but now I can't enter lol! Ugh!
I will add though, I like my complexion. I feel like I have a good even tone, and I don't get many pimples, yet I have a slight natural glow.... I love that you've asked for good points, and forced people to look for the good in themselves.... We all need a bit more of that I think!
I get it, totally understand. The reason (for me) is that it is much easier to have a verified winner through Instagram that I can actually chat with and get information from to get the products delivered. You would be surprised how many people will claim to be the winner, even come up with fake e-mail accounts so they can win.
I agree 100%. I feel like if you're doing the giveaway on RUclips it should be for RUclips subbies and if you want insta subbies do the giveaway on there. Pretty unfair to us subbies that are not 20 and still watch RUclips faithfully. Please consider doing separate giveaways for diff formats..
Love her videos!!! I like the fact that my skin has always looked a bit younger than i am because its oily therefore doesnt look as old as when my skin is dry. At the same time however i also hate my oily skin as i suffer w adult acne that flares up when im oily.
Thank you. Im going to keep pressing it in. I always make my life goal to apply my makeup as fast as possible and end up smearing in all my makeup with my beauty blender.
I'm only 20 and i already have so many lines under my eyes and huge bags. But i'm glad i atleast have small pores(except on my nose) and really soft skin :) And i love all this tips, they're really helpfull
I do a mixture of this whatever I do with the foundation I have to let it sit. Like you said if you’re gonna put a powder over thick foundation that’s not even dry at hello Cake city. The only thing I do set is my under eyes and my smile lines and also my nose.
You crack me up, you make these kinds of videos so much more fun to watch! I love that my skin kinda has a natural glow (it’s not oily though😂) but I’d like to improve on my confidence in putting makeup on my skin. I’m too scared that it will break me out so all I ever wear is mascara.
I am the all or nothing type girl so when i wear makeup I want to look like a new woman. I do put way too much Fondation at a time so I can get super full coverage, love ysl all hours but you are 100% right. I can leave finger prints on my fave at any point in the day. Not cute. I need to try cutting my bb which my toddler has taken bites out of a couple so I'll try with those first.... haha. Love these tips. Watched the video just to see. Didn't think I'd actually learn something... haha.
Who else deals with creasing and cakey foundation?? I hope these tips and tricks helped you guys out! Good luck and thanks again for entering!
PS: If you guys have any tips and tricks that I didn't mention that work really well for you, please let me know I want to learn more! :)
thank you for this video!!🙌❤
RachhLoves me I'm going to try these tips my laugh lines are crazy

I bet this is why my bronzer gets patchy sometimes oh my god 😓🙄
Casey C I don't think she's being sarcastic
"And without further ado...lets get into this" ....makes my day 😍
Your top is giving me some serious spring vibes which is helping me forget about the piles of snow outside (thanks Canada 🙄), the colour is GORGEOUS! And these tips are awesome, easy to follow and I can’t wait to try them out!
Not many youtubers can pull off a sponsored video without it feeling like just a long commercial. This was really well done!
This is a tip from me if someone wants it

Fantastic video and informative! I’ll be playing it again next time I do my makeup!

You’re like the only RUclipsr who actually uses an appropriate amount of makeup on your face
If you don't want to cut up your Beauty Blenders, Real Techniques has two types of beauty sponges that have the flat edges on it. IMO the pink one is better than the orange one. I use it everyday to apply my foundation, concealer, and powder.
kirstenmarry I totally agree! The shape of the pink one is much more cooperative and it's softer
kirstenmarry fenty beauty has a flat base beauty blender as well and it’s amazing :)
She's so pretty without makeup😍❤
Your personality has me hooked! Haha... great tips! ✨🤗🎥👍🏼
Thank you girl!!

Try "priming" your undereyes with a gel or oil! It hydrates the skin and works better.
I love the Physicians Formula elixir oil booster. I don't have the bottle on me for exact name but it's in the white bottle. I've been doing it all wrong lol got to try these tips
this actually taught me a thing or two! thanks for the good tips and tricks!
Makes me cringe every time whenever I see a beauty gurus make a huge triangle of concealer under their eyes, so THANK YOU for dotting it instead! ^_^

•Rachael Campbell• Thank you! My mother-in-law showed up while I was reading the rules and I totally misread it! Thanks again!
PLEASEEEE DO A HOLY GRAIL HAUL. I want to know your favorite foundations, eyeliner, etc.
This was so helpful this morning when I got ready. This is the first day I didn’t feel cakey or too powdery when going to work!!! You are amazing!

I did my makeup today and blended with a brush and thought it looked pretty cakey, and was planning on trying a beauty blender tomorrow instead. now I have all the perfect tips to make my makeup look great in the morning! what a coincidence lol thank you for this video!!!
okay seriously your shape tape tip saved my life 😂 i was doing the whole massive under eye triangle thing and it was crease city. thank you!
Rachel... YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTELY LIFESAVER. You literally solved all my makeup problems in 12 mins
Thanks for these awesome How To videos! They're going to be a great help as I learn how to use makeup myself. Even though I'm 25, and still don't know how to use makeup.
I’m feeling so called out because the creasy way is exactly how I do my makeup but I’ve learned so much!!
Hi Rachel! Can you please do a video totally dedicated to your favorite makeup brushes (high end/drugstore)? 😍
I love how informative all your videos are! They’re never boring to watch I just love all your videos! 😊
You even look so much younger on the side with less foundation! Wowww! These tips are amazing
I hope your subscriber numbers continue to go up because you deserve it. Super high quality videos, funny and honest. Thanks for that.
I really appreciate the tips! But I would really have liked to see a wear test with check-ins to demonstrate the visible differences, and show what to look for when assessing your own makeup application.
Finally the cutting of the beauty blender
Subscribed.
To be positive about my skin I could say, I'm glad it's not worse than what it is!
This video is so helpful! I’ve been doing my makeup sooo wrong, I honestly don’t think I knew any of these things until I watched this!
I love how glowy it can be without looking oily but I really want to get rid of my enlarged pores
Could you do a video of your drugstore and high end favorites for skincare and makeup? (Like your favorite drugstore vs high end foundation) also I loved this video, so helpful!
this literally helps me so much like no one ever talks about this so i appreciate it
Worked a 10 hour shift and didn’t have to redo my face makeup to go out afterwards. These tips are fantastic.
You just saved my life, I can't get rid of the caky effect with this new fundation I just bought, it should be easier now !
I love that my skin glows when I smile 😄
Thank you SO MUCH! I got so much out of this! The only thing I would add is that in a previous video you recommended using a Physician's Formula face oil. I took your advice and found that it helped a lot with the creasing under my eyes. I also used a Korean tea tree face oil and that has worked quite well too. I can't tell you how much these tips have really saved me from the creases!
Wow this was really helpful! I never thought of using a sponge to press in setting spray. Thank you so much Rachel!
Love this more natural eyeshadow and simple cute and cozy sweater on you!
The thing I love about my skin is how generally clear it is and one thing I want to improve is the largeness of my pores and texture
Have you heard of people using the nivia for men post shave balm for sensitive skin? I stole my husbands
Nicole Beauregard no!! I have heard of people using the monistat chaffe balm because it is so silicone-y... I will have to try to Nivea!!
Also look into some of the Kbeauty lines, my faves are Holika Holika, Lioele, Etude House and Missha. They also have the most pure ingredients
Someone finally said it! I hate watching Instagram and RUclips where they just BLOB on foundation. Cringe worthy. You are brilliant!
thank you so much for this!! i've always had the "cakey" side when i put on makeup and never knew why or how to fix it! this is so informative and helpful :)
Love Do's & don't! Thanks for the tips. Nikkia Joy has some good one's too if you are oily.
Melanie Elyssa thanks for sharing I appreciate it
Hi Rachel, I just wanted to say thank you for your awesome videos.
Hey Rachel, loved loved loved this video! Would you mind doing a tutorial on your eyeshadow for this video, I love how simple but pretty it is!! 💗💗
So I tried all these tips today and my base makeup has never looked better!! 🙌
This may be the most helpful foundation video I have ever seen! Going to try so e of these today.
Great tips!! Thank you I have all the issues with the cakey side so I’m going to try all of your tips
OMG finaaly! the alternative for all that babes who apply layers of foundation, concealer and setting powder!
god bless you girl
Oh ok, I see... Man, that's just low lol!
I have been waiting for this video! I am so happy because I have so many issues with smile lines. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so much!
I'm only 20 and i already have so many lines under my eyes and huge bags. But i'm glad i atleast have small pores(except on my nose) and really soft skin :) And i love all this tips, they're really helpfull
Great video! I’m going to try the blender/setting spray tip. I try not to use as much powder but I still get some caking going on. ❤️ ❤️
I love the Milani Primer 😍 thankyou for such helpful tips! I'm super oily and this will help so much!
Rach, this video is so helpful!! Exactly what i was looking for!!
The way you explain things is awesome. It makes perfect sense when you break it down. 👌
Didn't think I'd actually learn something... haha.
