A rebel extremist who’s been operating under the empire for years, a Jedi, and a mandalorian take out a squad a death troopers with the element of surprise. How is this unbelievable?
I would wager that ARC troopers are similar to real life Green Berets or like you mentioned, Marine Raiders because they act as almost a force multiplier on the battlefield. Only difference being, ARC troopers work along side fellow clones while Green Berets and Raiders are usually working with soldiers of a less equipped allied force that they’ve helped train like the Afghan National Army.
Worst thing Disney did was make null and alpha arcs non canon. But that’s what they want us to believe. They’re still out there. Running secret ops missions
Arc troopers always reminded me of force recon. Like recon, they're technically conventional forces, but are highly trained, special operation ready/capable and take the best of the best from the marines. They both carry out direct action and recon missions behind enemy lines too
The best Republic military unit was Havoc squad in The Old Republic (Legends). They weren't clones full of hidden trigger codes and had different departments with different skills to optimize team efficiency.
With the ARC troopers, I'd say their best comparison to the real world would be the Combat Controllers from the Air Force's Special Tactics Squadrons. They often embed in other special forces units and their training is among the most rigorous of all special forces units because they've got to be able to do everything their peers can do, just as well.
This was pretty cool, I must say though, I was hoping to see something on Red Guards in the Empire. In legends those guys were some seriously mean fighters and held up against strong opposing forces really well. I want to see more on them
There is only one 'special forces' unit in the united states military. They are the green berets. They focus on unconventional warfare ie dropping behind enemy lines and training local fighters like the muj against the russians or the northern alliance against the taliban. CIA gas the Special Activities Divison which im pretty sure SOG is part of. Special operations covers all units like 160th, MARSOC, Rangers, pararescue etc. You got a lot of the info right or pretty close, glad you actually took the time to check it out and do your research. Thats why I enjoy your channel man. Keep up the good work.
Fun fact, I was the NCOIC of the site where the USAF lost the grenades! (8:46) I dont know whether I should be amused or ashamed.... but it's always neat to be able to say, "Oh hey, I was there for that!"
I'd say the ISB is also kind of the NSA. The clone commando's could be Delta force or MACVSOG. Death troopers would be something like the secret service mixed with Homeland security and a PMC. The Arc troopers could be like the army rangers.
Death Troopers were very highly trained, just look at how they slaughtered the Rebel ground forces in Rogue One ... well, until they couldn't hit Chirrut Imwe because ... he was a Force user? Maybe? In Legends and especially in the West End Games Star Wars RPG the Rebels had some amazing Spec Op units trained by Crix Madine, it's a shame they all got lost when Disney took over. I would love to see a Star Wars tv show similar to 'The Unit' about Rebel, or hell even Imperial, special forces.
The force willed the blind man's survival and made their blaster shots miss when he called on it's protection. Then it willed his death, after he completed his objective. The force then made the other asain man into a tank when he called on it's protection and willed his death after he completed his objective.
@Gaius Wyrden Imo it's not cannon. Disney should have made levels of cannon like Lucas did. Anything that is really light like Rebels shouldn't be cannon because it doesn't respect lore and will make ridiculous things happen to make the show fit whatever narrative it has. Things that are way too dark also shouldn't be cannon because the villians may be ridiculously OP and the stories may alienate many of the fans. These stories can still be made for specific groups of fans but, they shouldn't be cannon. Realistic stories and balanced stories should be cannon. The film's are at least balanced in maturity and pace. TCW was balanced. Some things can be a little darker or lighter but anything that is considerably dark or light when compared to the films shouldn't be cannon. Plus the fans who watch things like Rebels are usually kids who don't care about the concept of cannon, do you aren't losing anything by not making those stories cannon or at least making them a lower tier of cannon.
Bill Clark ...like legends was official Canon. Though given a seal of approval by Lucasfilm (which they still have), Lucas said, and I quote "They have their star wars, I have mine." so it's less getting rid of canon, than the establishing of an actual, sane timeline.
8:06 It seems to me that a small contingent of rebels surrendered immediately upon seeing the Death Troopers, who then were forcefully deployed as literal human shields to cover the assaulting Death Troopers as they take cover & return concentrated fire at hostiles. The DT’s then focused on the rebel-human shields when it was clear they were going to make it with the hostiles. I think if they’d know the human shield tactic would fail they would’ve just executed the captured rebels
SAD's role is mostly Intel work unless you're referring to SAD/SOG then you're still in merking waters. Your probably thinking of the ground branch who operate covert unconventional warfare and are usually berets not what Death troopers do anyways. What you're really thinking of is GRS contractors who are by all definition are mercenaries who are usually former SEALs,Delta,Marines,or Rangers and are assigned to assist and protect CIA field agents in hostile regions Thirteen Hours was about GRS contractors to give you an idea. And essentially that's all we see Deathtroopers.
Yeah I was thinking they were more intended to be the GRS-former SEAL type, but the show reduced them to well... But yeah, exactly. Truth be told I'm pretty green regarding American SOF stuff. I'm more knowledgeable about the eastern side stuff. So thanks for broadening my horizon man !
@@matthewgarrity9405 Any time I was working on a sci fi book involving SOFs and based it off of the US sytem. Though research is often hard because classified information so I wouldn't consider myself an expert. Eastern is actually where I kind of lack until we get to China then it grows till we get full circle back to America.
@@matthewgarrity9405 Also if you want a sci fi with accurate SOF portrayals Terms of enlistment is really good about it and really the front lines series in general and after you read it Starwars just dosen't make sense in comparison when talking SOF. Halo has good ones depending what novel you read. John Ringo has some interesting takes on it but it's usually pretty politically bias and action heavy if you value plot more you probably wont like his style. But Tom Clancy's rainbow six novel is very well put together and has the best fictional SOF out of all like you could see it working IRL.
It almost seemed like ARC troopers in TCW were basically just elite and/or veteran troopers assigned to regular infantry units as senior officers... and in some cases it almost seemed more like a title or an award given to heroic individuals, rather than specialized training or assignments - in the case of Fives and Echo, they don't seem to receive any additional training or new tasks, all that really happens is their clone designations change from CT to ARC. In that case the title of ARC Trooper might be considered more ceremonial, and simply used as a way to distinguish senior and heroic clones from the rank-and-file troopers.
Whats interesting is that in Germany ( I guess in some other countrys too) the special forces are called "Kommando Spezial Kräfte" which translates to "commando special forces". Everytime I hear "clone commando" I think of them.
In my opinion for me as a us army soldier I felt like that the arc troopers are like the badass us army rangers bc I remember in basic and AIT everyone wanted to be a ranger bc they were concerted the mos badass units in the army more than Green berets in some episodes in CWs all the regs wanted to be arc troopers during there basic also arc troopers and us army rangers have similar training and missions in my opinion love this stuff keep it up 👍
Believe it or not the Combat Controller teams still exist, and are more badass than ever. You forgot to mention that Airforce PJs and SEAL snipers took part in the Mogadishu raid as well.
pathfinder elements are still used by us and international airborne units they act as scout forces to confirm objectives, targets and landing zones are still achievable and if necessary act on objectives as a strike team look up l.R.R.P'S sometimes called l.R.P.S.
Some of the canon units are quite interesting, but I still like a lot of the Legends organizations, like the Imperial Royal Guard or the Storm Commandos. They are woefully under represented in a lot of the shows and movies, of course maybe that's nostalgia for Crimson Empire talking (it was my first Star Wars comic).
Death troopers were much more than portrayed, they were initially unvieled in the star wars game series involving Kyle Katarn, where you find an entire rebel base was taken out by a squad of death troopers. You also forgot to mention several other groups including Nova troopers and shocktroopers. Not to mention the rebels did also have rebel intelligence agents and assassins that acted alone or in a cell (team of two) that said, there is even other variants of clone special forces. All of which have lore but were in books and games made prior to Disney's takeover. Im just one of those guys that really doesnt accept Disney's idea of star wars lore as canon. I mean I also understand the lore of it all is starting to get rewritten. For example Disney may just completely replace nova troopers to be inferno commandos
Ok sir, let me set you straight on the matter of the Death Troopers. Death Troopers were highly trained operatives that could serve in individual capacities if needed. Each trained to what they wished to be trained in, such as sniping, infiltration, assassination techniques, explosives, heavy weaponry, etc. Some were experts after years of experience and given pauldrons and better rank to match, as well as extra armor plating and ammunition, with two sonic grenades for extra firepower. They trained in harsh, aquatic zones alongside shoretroopers in certain camps, then transferred somewhere else on the planet to finish their standard training. Sometimes even exceptional stormtroopers were allowed into their ranks, but only after completing initial stormtrooper training and testing. Director Krennic had a mixture of veteran death troopers and standard death troopers, and employed them both as bodyguards, servants, and as his personal death-squad for elite missions. Serving him also gave them better regular access to heavier weapons, with a few utilizing their heavy weapons training to their maximum potential on Scarif. All troopers were also given two standard weapons: a semi-automatic pistol and a modified E-11 that allowed for faster firing with reduced heat output, but sacrificed a scope in exchange for a more advanced computer module that aimed better at targets. Death Trooper helmets additionally were given tactical readouts, the black polymers used for their sensor camouflage, and target acquisition for a 3D view of the field to identify target positioning and status. SO, you're telling me that these are only "simple guards?" I could do another video of the flaws you made when describing each of these units. Please, do more research when making these videos, it doesn't make you look (as great) otherwise.
ARC Troopers or Advanced Recon Commandos (not commanders) were trained to be individualized, to depend on themselves they weren’t meant to operate in squad and worked best in teams, they’re my personal favorite unit in the star wars universe. Fives and Echo were awarded the status of ARC trooper for effectively showing such independence in tactical thinking during the battle of Kamino I don’t know enough about real life spec ops units to compare accurately but the jist is they work most effectively alone or in small teams and are amazing tacticians often knowing when and how to out flank and deal critical blows to enemy forces. That’s why they were often put in charge of infantry cause they lead them so efficiently with their tactics.
According to the Lone Survivor, Marcus Luttrell, the Seals are Trained to Do Everything. The ARCs in Legends could go Lone Wolf, but nearly as often as not worked in small teams.
I feel ARC troopers are like 75th Rangers or SEAL teams. If you watch the 2 part Clone Wars cartoon (not the cgi one), they execute high speed, aggressive, direct action missions with heavy firepower. They infiltrate enemy lines and cause massive destruction of key points and targets as well.
I think it was stated that Arc troopers were later on trained to essentially be the leaders the Jedi generals were not. In fact it was the Jedi who who were the largest supporters of arcs as a result of their well rounded capabilities.
I like this. But I’d like to see a slightly more in depth comparison side by side. I’d like to know how much they compare to our military. It would be cool to see examples from canon sources of the star wars equivalent of each special position of our military. For example the troops we see in the dr vindi arc, the boys in orange, equate to our own eod squads. Arc troopers seem to equate to our own army rangers. Commandos maybe equate to our seals. Then obviously there’s the different Air Force positions that equate to fighter/bomber pilots and support positions. Naval positions equate to capitol ship and cruiser, carrier large and transport crew and support. Could be a couple videos, one for each branch and their equivalents. Army, navy, Air Force, and marines.
Good video, though with the ARC troopers in legends I feel they just made them Army Rangers or maybe better described as ranger qualified like they went througg ranger school for servicemen who wish to go through some extra leadership training
my only critique is the downplay of the ARC Troopers and their capabilities. ARC Troopers were the Green Berets/Rangers of the Republic Military, and the reason why is because Jango Fett himself trained them before his untimely demise at the laightsaber blade of Mace Windu. Also remember that they helped neutralize a long range gun and helped defeat the InterGalactic Banking Clan during the battle of Muunulist. Republic Commandos were the Delta Force/DEVGRU of the Republic Military. Their training, to my knowledge, was a mixture of training from Jango Fett and his Sergeants, and training from the Kamino cloners' training program.
I personally like to follow the commando books explanation of arcs as the “null” arcs being the 13 original clones then the “alpha” arcs being the “enhanced” versions
loved the video but the picture at 5:26 is seal team 10 that was unfortunately lost during operation red wing the man in the baseball cap in the middle is marcus luttrell the lone survivor and a man I’ve had the pleasure of meeting
Death troopers were actually very elite. And trained for serious battles with robotics in there body. Plot armor made them look bad. Commandos didn’t even get in the movies
I was hoping to see some comparisons to none US units like the SAS or Spetsnaz, however it is easier to make lists on stuff you're familiar with so there's that. great video

(yeah, I know, tooting my own horn)
Yeah man clone commando series, Null arcs are definitely the best, with the RC squads right on their 6
A rebel extremist who’s been operating under the empire for years, a Jedi, and a mandalorian take out a squad a death troopers with the element of surprise. How is this unbelievable?
The clone commandos remind me of the SPARTAN-IIs from Halo. Tough armor, genetically modified for combat, and tough as hell.
When I played Call of Duty: MW3 campaign, the Delta Force missions felt a lot like Republic Commando.
Worst thing Disney did was make null and alpha arcs non canon. But that’s what they want us to believe. They’re still out there. Running secret ops missions
Glad your back man.
Clones are tough.
Arc troopers always reminded me of force recon. Like recon, they're technically conventional forces, but are highly trained, special operation ready/capable and take the best of the best from the marines. They both carry out direct action and recon missions behind enemy lines too
*Here’s that Content*
The best Republic military unit was Havoc squad in The Old Republic (Legends). They weren't clones full of hidden trigger codes and had different departments with different skills to optimize team efficiency.
With the ARC troopers, I'd say their best comparison to the real world would be the Combat Controllers from the Air Force's Special Tactics Squadrons. They often embed in other special forces units and their training is among the most rigorous of all special forces units because they've got to be able to do everything their peers can do, just as well.
This video was so fu**ing awesome guys. Great job!
"Pathfinder" is also the name of Princess Leia's outdoor training class as featured in Leia: Princess of Alderaan.
Finally someone acknowledges SOG’s existence.
This was pretty cool, I must say though, I was hoping to see something on Red Guards in the Empire. In legends those guys were some seriously mean fighters and held up against strong opposing forces really well. I want to see more on them
There is an NSA Police Department, Mind you.
I think the similarities between Delta Force and the clone commandos were intentional. We do play as DELTA squad in Republic Commandos, after all.
thank you for answering my biggest question..
It would be cool if you could make a video about one of the most criminally _(hehe)_ underrated worlds in all of Star Wars lore, Nar Shaddaa.
2:23 this was not their second mission, it is continually referenced in the book that they did many missions in between those 2
There is only one 'special forces' unit in the united states military.
Keep up the good work.
wait. isn't that life support box on infeno squad's chest a huge obstacle?
also luv your videos
It is sound of make scenes! Thanks! ;-)
No more so than the rebreathers SEALs use.
It might be, but it probably also lets them fight in a vacuum and take part in starship boarding actions.
I love the details on this my favorite is probably Arc troopers.
Fun fact, I was the NCOIC of the site where the USAF lost the grenades! (8:46)
I dont know whether I should be amused or ashamed.... but it's always neat to be able to say, "Oh hey, I was there for that!"
I'd say the ISB is also kind of the NSA.
The clone commando's could be Delta force or MACVSOG.
Death troopers would be something like the secret service mixed with Homeland security and a PMC.
The Arc troopers could be like the army rangers.
**RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!**
5:26 Nice i love the Book, the Movie and the Murpy workout :)
Love how you brought up 13 Hours that film was awesome.😀
Then got slaughtered by Baze
@@billclark5055 therefore The Force goes by another name: plot armor lol
8:06 It seems to me that a small contingent of rebels surrendered immediately upon seeing the Death Troopers, who then were forcefully deployed as literal human shields to cover the assaulting Death Troopers as they take cover & return concentrated fire at hostiles. The DT’s then focused on the rebel-human shields when it was clear they were going to make it with the hostiles. I think if they’d know the human shield tactic would fail they would’ve just executed the captured rebels
Awesome knowledge on our real life special operators!
You should do a video on unique blasters and or firearms in the star wars universe
Good idea!
I wish the Death Troopers weren't so missrepresented since I did see them in more of a similar role to SAD units.
Arc Troopers are elite marines like Rambo. Because they are still at the front whilst having the best combat skills for behind enemy lines as well.
3:12 the guy with the black hat and sunglasses on the left. Is Chris Tanto Paronto, he fought in the battle of Benghazi in 2012.
Whats interesting is that in Germany ( I guess in some other countrys too) the special forces are called "Kommando Spezial Kräfte" which translates to "commando special forces". Everytime I hear "clone commando" I think of them.
Really loving your videos, what about a series that had 10 strengths about something instead of flaws? Still love the 10 flaws series though. :p
Btw, outstanding video!
In my opinion for me as a us army soldier I felt like that the arc troopers are like the badass us army rangers bc I remember in basic and AIT everyone wanted to be a ranger bc they were concerted the mos badass units in the army more than Green berets in some episodes in CWs all the regs wanted to be arc troopers during there basic also arc troopers and us army rangers have similar training and missions in my opinion love this stuff keep it up 👍
Pathfinders in WW2 became the Air Force Combat Control.
Your Arc Trooper picture was taken from a mod from XCOM 2. Very nice Generation Tech
BEST VIDEO ON YT EVER
can i make a small correction, i'd clasify arcs as the fictional = to the seals, delta force etc
DJ Fabi
Considering recon is in the ARC acronym
Their equal would be marine recon lol
Believe it or not the Combat Controller teams still exist, and are more badass than ever. You forgot to mention that Airforce PJs and SEAL snipers took part in the Mogadishu raid as well.
Now I'd like to see a video about real world and star wars cultures and life styles
Awesome like always
Love your videos!😀
pathfinder elements are still used by us and international airborne units they act as scout forces to confirm objectives, targets and landing zones are still achievable and if necessary act on objectives as a strike team look up l.R.R.P'S sometimes called l.R.P.S.
Nice use of Darkman!
If I was born on the Star Wars universe I would like to be:
- A jedi temple guard if I was Force sensitive.
- A pilot if I was not a Force sensitive.
Fighter pilot. I doubt flying shuttles is any fun.
HELL YEAH! I love inferno squad!
That’s why they were often put in charge of infantry cause they lead them so efficiently with their tactics.
drinking game: take a shot of Vodka every time he says special forces
According to the Lone Survivor, Marcus Luttrell, the Seals are Trained to Do Everything. The ARCs in Legends could go Lone Wolf, but nearly as often as not worked in small teams.
It would be really cool to see Range Troopers again.
Can you Top 5 Elite StarFighters and their equivalent to their Earth counterparts.
Would that be squadrons/units or individual pilots? I would love to see elite squadrons compared
We weren't expecting special forces
Good video, though with the ARC troopers in legends I feel they just made them Army Rangers or maybe better described as ranger qualified like they went througg ranger school for servicemen who wish to go through some extra leadership training
CT-2197 Quaid Having a ranger tab and being in a bat is very different i’m pretty sure.
Could you do a video series on top 5/10 best species in each category (strength, intelligence, etc.)
I love the Clone Commandos and the ARC Troopers
my only critique is the downplay of the ARC Troopers and their capabilities.
Ah, the Darkman carnival scene.
Arc troopers like Jesse, and Fives, they gave me the vibe of rangers
I was hoping to see some comparisons to none US units like the SAS or Spetsnaz, however it is easier to make lists on stuff you're familiar with so there's that. great video
Speznas isn’t a unit
well in my opinion arc troopers are more like platon comander's or like special force's comanders idk that's just my opinion on arc troopers .Good video!
