The albun "The Wall" is a MUST HAVE one. It tells a history and you'll only understand if you listen to entirely. I'm sure you'll love it. They also have a movie with the same name, and I also recomend you to wacth.
    Best regards from Brazil.

There is a lot to unpack here. First is the snippet from the 60s TV show, Gomer Pyle, USMC. Sgt Carter is talking about the measurements of his girlfriend, Rose Pilchick while a girl, Pink's wife, screams as Pink tells her to shut up. This flows from the previous song that ended with the female voice from the episode of Gunsmoke. Pink's wife haunts him throughout the album.
As he believes himself to be completely isolated from the outside world Pink begins to inventory the remembrances he still retains. Of note is the Syd Barrett references. Syd used elastic bands to keep his shoes on and his attempt to grow out his hair Jimi Hendrix style. The afro hair style was big in the 70s. Syd is also referenced with the Gohills boots and the wild staring eyes. The swollen hand blues refers to Waters' drug incident at a show in 1977, an incident that would later be memorialized in the song Comfortably Numb. This reference fore-shadows that song.
The telephone is a recurring theme on the album and is tied to Pink's wife. This is the reference to Waters' calling home during a tour in the US and having a man answer the phone. This was the impetus for Roger getting divorced. He said it was the worst day of his life and no surprise that this incident would be a recurring theme on the album. And of course we have that infamous Gomer Pyle refrain (for those that remember the show), "surprise, surprise, surprise." The silver spoon and the grand piano are a reference to Rick Wright who was suffering his own inner demons at the time. The Gomer Pyle reference specifically as a show about the military is going to carry through to the next song which will bring war into the picture. Again a reference to the loss of Waters' father in the war.

Imprisoned in a prison of his own making while knowing deep down he's the only one to blame but refuses to own it. Now he searches for whom to blame, He will use his amazing powers that he perceives as far above the common man to find the real culprits who put him in his prison. To him it can't be the harsh reality he knows deep down is the truth so he's going to search the fringes until he finds someone else to blame. Peace/JT

Bella interpretazione di Roger che canta con intonazione molto teatrale.
