I'm very pleased with the Black Hawks, they are here to stay :-)
the best bare knuckle demo ever
Dude! What a sick demo! That slapping stuff you did was insane!!
What a great review. Great playing and great tone.
I just bought my second alnico BH set, fantastic pickups so I needed a set in my backup as well! Review here is spot-on. I have mine in C standard and they are fantastic through the crunch channels of my amps (Peavey 6534+ and Peavey JSX).
You fuckin' wail, man. Everything about this is awesome. Great player, excellent tone, great review. All the best to you. Cheers from Michigan.
Incredible playing mate. I can only imagine what your original material sounds like!
Really love your style and tone man, beautiful stuff!
Great tone and playing mate!
Great playing man!
Josh...No more lack of demos please man... ;-)
Josh has the best vibrato in the biz!!!
Really, really good :) What a great review & glad I found you again...(in truth, I was researching the pups & the last clip I saw was you playing was that Green Suhr modern quilt burst with the hipshot & reverse headstock in your GuitarGuitar posting... - love seeing your hybrid picking & across many styles...Excellent Work!..wish I could lol! Best regards, Eug. :0)
You’re a killer player dude!
thanks man, loved the review :)
They have a nice punchy sound like you could probably play country with these. Also the bass output on these is very loud but not muddy, sweet tones!
The coil tapped tones on these are excellent! Very T style on the bridge and S style on the neck with plenty of punch hardly any drop in output. Then if you coil tap in the middle position you get that very percussive tone that bands like Tesseract use.
Very kind of you to do so dude :D
Im doing a guitar build right now and trying to find the right bridge pick up. Ive had Ty Tabors tone on Dogman in mind. Sure enough i stumble on this 5:32 awesome dude! Love Kings X
Awesome tone!
Por fin se puede escuchar estos micrófonos en un ambiente distinto al metal pesado, rock por ejemplo o algo más tranquilo. Suenan muy bien y así poder comprobar que si alguien las adquiere puede tocar cualquier tipo de música...👍👍👍
My pleasure mate..! Would love to know how you do those hybrid picks so perfectly.. so monstrous! Hahah
Wow Josh, you are amazing!!!!!!!
You should try to get on Jam Track Central with that style man, based around the UK or Europe at least, too..! Dunno how you'd go about doing it, but you deserve the exposure for sure!
love those chords josh! is there a tab version of them anywhere? thanks. sounds awesome btw!
Seriously nice tone . I would love that tone , I wonder if there's a cheaper option with a similar sound . Very clean and articulate
Fokin Pickups, huge bang for the buck
Swamp ash body, flame maple top, neck through construction consisting of maple, mahogany, amazoke, wenge and bubinga, with an ebony fingerboard.
Thanks dude :D
Thanks a lot dude :D
thanks man, really like these pickups?
I have a Nailbomb in the bridge of my strat but not liking the tone of it in this guitar. Loved it in my Les Paul. I was thinking of the Blackhawk for the strat, (also has BK Trilogy Suite in neck and middle), any thoughts on that? Thanks
Hi great video and awesome playing. I have an Ltd ec 1000 mahogany body and have had my eye in the black hawk's. Which magnet woukd you recommend for this guitar. I play fast pace thrashy skate punk. Cheers dude.
sick pickin!
Very nice!!!!
Versatile pickup? What about the versatile player! So many different and tasteful styles man! I'm actually surprised with how good the Black Hawk actually sounds seeing as its the pickup that's related closer to that of an Active Pickup. Question dude, have you got any thoughts on the Warpig pickups? They are such high output(21 ohms) where as these guys are only 8 ohms. I keep getting told to get the Warpigs. I play progressive metal with alot of lead playing aswell as tight riffs(Drop C and 7 string stuff) but also plenty of cleans aswell, will the Warpig help me with this and the versatility that I'm after or should I lean towards some of the lower output Bare Knuckles? You're help would be much appreciative Josh :)
Once again, amazing playing, keep it up.
Thank you very much for the kind words dude. I haven't had many encounters with the Warpig as of yet, only what others have said. Francesco Filigoi has a Warpig bridge and Emerald neck in a 7 string Carvin which sounds killer! Personally for those applications I'd opt for the Alnico Nailbombs, Blackhawks or Juggernauts.
Hope that helps.
Josh Wibaut I'd opt for the BlackHawks or Juggernauts, too. Probably the BlackHawks if you need something that can play modern progressive metal (aka "can it djent?!") but need an otherwise versatile pickups. The Warpigs are actually a quite amazing pickup for something that seems like it would be pure balls to the wall heaviest thing in the world, though.
What size strings are you using?
Both alnico? Thanks.
can I put some Bare Knuckles Black Hawks on a Gibson Les Paul Studio?
why did you order blackhawks and not aftermath? Seems everyone is going for the latter but I can't really tell the difference.
Does it hum at all when split? I'm intrigued by the four coil (or two coil, four rail?) design...
There are two coils, with four rails on each. The bridge pickup has three magnets. They do hum a bit when split, but not obnoxiously so.
Thanks a lot dude. I'll drop an e-mail to Jam Central and see what happens :)
Nice demo man, very good playing as always too! Im considering these pickups for a Jackson soloist myself, the alnico option too. What made you go for the Alnico option? Would the ceramic be to bright in a maple neck-through? Especially with Swamp-ash wings? Although my soloist has Alder wings. Cheers!
I opted for the Alnico because I thought the Ceramic would be too aggressive. It wouldn't be to bright with a maple neck thru, it depends if you want the aggressive focussed attack of the ceramic or the slightly warmer alnico p'up.
Josh Wibaut Thanks man! Good to know! Doesnt make the choice any easier though hehe. But I Think ill probably go with the Alnico too.
Hi! I have a Mayones Regius from 2009. I don t like the black Sperzel tuning machines it came with. Can I ask which tuning machines you are using? They look cool too. Thanks!
Thanks! These are the chrome finished Sperzel locking tuners. I'm sure you can order a set in the colour you prefer and swap them out.
really? i wouldnt have thought so. seems that their main point is that thyre very clear.
You certainly can.
I've heard the aftermaths are also a bit tighter than the black hawks. I've just received a guitar with black hawks and I find them maybe a bit too bright at some points.
If it is the ceramic bridge that is definitely brighter than the alnico version demonstrated in this video
Kings X!
What tuning is this??? :D btw nice playing! versatile pickups \M/
Drop C. Thanks bud :D
Josh Wibaut Great playing, obviously, huge. What gauge strings do you use for this tuning? I'm in drop Db, with additional drop Ab, and go down to a .052 for the Db .064 for the Ab. Think that's too light?
Those gauges sound fine to me. I'm using Beefy Slinky's 11-54 for Drop C.
Alnico or ceramic?
He says its alnico in the bridge.
Amp sounds like a 6505 :p
To your surprise I already have, hahaha, they said they'll consider you when they search for some new artists... You're definitely a shoe-in though
Yep, Im officially not content with my playing now.
If Dennis Reynolds played guitar...
Single coil sound . Not good. As with all HB"s Great demo and playing
Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys 11-54
off course since wood never affects any tone any way :p
Should've gotten juggernauts
