Hell yea finaly someone using the ubox for a bike! I just settled on a 2000k watt, 60volt, dual motor build myself and currently doing my research for top speeds etc. I know the ubox from building electric longboards before i got into bikes
I am a retired engineer and I would like to suggest that the battery compartment would look much cleaner if you mounted the removable Side first with internal fasteners and then welded the back on. Be easier to cut as well without all those unsightly tags stuck out.👍Just weld nuts inside.
yes I got that idea, but those nuts inside it might damage the battery..
@@albertnario4877 Put foam on the removable cover to push the battery away?
another issue about that is space.. you can't insert more battery on casing because of those nuts..
@@albertnario4877 exactly. I'm going to do a battery box soon and for this reason have to make it bigger, so it looks better outside, and looks worse on the inside, having to add extra padding, etc.

this is the best looking, practical ebike conversion i've seen so far
....though i would prefer a single motor(rear hub) bike

nice build did the same thing a couple years ago with 2 1500w hub motors on a santa cruz still going strong plenty power very good on the hills

I got a question, the ebike motors have those wires that go into the ebikes junction box and so does the original controller, what did you do with those wires as far as connecting them to the vesc? I wish you'd shown the entire process

Did you have to change the connectors from what would normally be the pins that go in the junction box to bullets??

It's not quite as DIY since the hubs are already meant for that purpose, but I really like this one even more than the DIY 2WD e-bike conversion from before because of how much better integrated the battery compartment is with this bike. It's such an awesome project! And the range on that thing is incredible! Does the controller also manage any regenerative braking to use the motors to recharge the batteries when you're descending a hill? If there's a way to add a lever to the handlebar to control that, it would be fantastic to use to regulate your speed when going downhill instead of needing to rely on the disc brakes.
geared hub motor doesn't have regen function because of clutch on its gear.. but you can make it by disable the clutch but you gear suffer

Caution ! Its been said that e bike motors installed on front forks with tube suspension like shown in the video may cause failure of the aluminum clamps that hold the suspension tubes in place. It may not be safe to use ebike motors on these types of suspension forks for extended or extreme use.

Wow, this motors seems so tiny, Why hoverboard motors doesnt achieve such as speed? or the real problem is the controller model?

@@albertnario4877 I saw some guys saying this 500w hoverboard motors can suport till 1500w controllers
after 1min of used, there's smoke on your motor.. as i know that motor only rated 200w, peak power is 500w
