I've been indifferent to more than 60hz on a drawing display. I can't see the advantage of a higher refresh rate for drawing. Though if it's going to be your only monitor, it could make sense. But I don't game on a small monitor, and the game I play has to be locked at a lower refresh rate to run well at 4K anyway (flight sim), so I use a very large HDR 4K smart TV, which covers all my gaming and entertainment needs. Much cheaper than a large 4K monitor as well. So what is the advantage for art specifically to have a faster refresh rate?
@faelwolf1177 I've used a galaxy tab for drawing at 120hz, and it provides a surprisingly good drawing experience if you draw with little to no stabilization, but I'm only considering it an actual lifesaver on heavier workloads like drawing pages of comics where there's considerable memory-use and the program slows down. I'm currently using a convertible laptop for drawing locked at 60hz, and there is virtually no difference if you get used to it, although I now bump up my stabilization to get cleaner strokes. Although I personally prefer the drawing experience on the 120hz tablet, if that counts for anything. Overall, I'd say it matters if you're a stickler for drawing experience and pen smoothness like me. I do value getting close to drawing on paper on a screen. It's not an imperative feature, but it certainly offers creature comforts.
It's been nice to see XP-Pen and Huion stepping up their game the past year or so. Wacom is even having to start lowering their prices a bit now on their tablets in this size range. Real competition at work. With the large side bezels, I'd have liked to have seen express keys instead of the separate controller, or some way to mount the controller to either side at least. But at half the price of the Xencelabs, and one third the price of a Wacom, hard to complain about anything! There's a technical reason for the large bezels. The EMR digitizers get jittery and inaccurate at the edges, so the bezels let the manufacturer put the edges of the digitizer panel past the drawing area to eliminate that issue for the user. The issue is due to the way the grid mapping relies on the surrounding grid to establish the coordinates, and power enough signal strength for the RFID chip in the pen. So when there are few or no grid points around the pen tip, things get unreliable. Some manufacturers take it a step further for a hand rest, but there is a rather large minimum bezel (by current standards) for this kind of digitizer. You'll also find it on the non-monitor pads that use the same tech, though those tend to use the minimum bezel size.
I'm a long (long, long) time owner of a Cintiq 24hd and I have to say that express keys sounds nice, but in practice are useless on a tablet this big. Imagine sitting at a table drawing, then having to reach for the very edge of the table every time you want to change tools. It's a really big movement that gets uncomfortable quickly. I have a Tourbox connected to mine now, having long since abandoned using the express keys. A remote that can sit under your natural hand position is much more practical.
@fix0the0spade I was just about to say this I had the original artist 24 Pro and I almost never used the wheel or Express keys because it took so much more effort to reach when using a tablet this big. XP pen seem to have been doing their homework Express Keys work well on small tablets where you can easily and on the edge but for Monster tablets like this one it's a bit of a liability
@@fix0the0spade I use a 20" monitor, and a manipulator arm, so my natural drawing position allows me to rest my hand on the left edge of the monitor, and have my express keys set up for the most commonly used functions. Between that and the quick access pop-up in Krita, it takes very little movement to change brushes, etc. I get a lot of use out of my express keys. But not knocking those with a different workflow! I may find a similar issue though, if I move to one of these larger tablets, so I'll keep that in mind!
I was looking forward to this review! I bought the tablet a couple days after it came out and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I'm glad that your review of it was good 😅
@@MightGuy15 I chose the 4K one because I tend to get very close to my screen (RIP my posture) and I doubt I'd be able to notice any bump in frame rate. (It's 165hz, not 140hz btw) All my previous monitors have been 60hz. I think the boosted Hz might be a bit of a gimmick, but maybe it's genuinely useful to some people. I do game, but I don't play usually games where the frame rate is important. I have an iPad pro which supposedly has 120hz and I've never noticed the difference (I just looked it up now to see if there was a difference. I wasn't aware beforehand haha)
@@kathir4717Thank you, random stranger! Honestly there's such a lack of jobs in the industry at the moment (well, animation), it really has made me question whether I want to keep trying to make this my job :( I just moved from the UK to Australia to live with my partner. I hope I can find something soon 😅
I'm someone who holds the 16 inch xppen on my lap and I appreciate the large bezels. I'm hoping next gen has the 165hz refresh rate on their smaller units! Also. That shortcut remote (and the one that comes with all older models) has a dongle-free bluetooth connection function if you hold the center circle button for 6 seconds. XP-Pen's support chat has a firmware upgrade they can send you when asked that'll make the shortcut remote useable on android and iPad. The Android app to program the buttons is on the xppen remote drivers website and not the google play store at this time. Also, Samsung programmed physical space bars for their galaxy tabs for something and can't be used to pan canvases in any art app, so you'll have to program the hand tool in CSP to another keyboard shortcut and assign that on the remote. Just throwing that in there!
@@cammiluna This is excellent info! I had no idea there was some firmware update available to make it work on Android, and after getting one to use with my S8 Ultra while connected to my PC, this means I could get it to work on Android too... Much appreciated!
@@Just_a_commenter XP-Pen doesn't actively promote this! The only reason why I found out at all was because their website started listing the remote as a recommended accessory for the Magic Drawing Pad, so I ended up doing a 4am deep dive on the internet on how to make my remote work on Android and ended up on a Reddit post that mentioned the firmware update. I booted up support chat and they threw me a link in less that five minutes! Now i use the remote for my Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and I can't function without it anymore!
@@Just_a_commenter No problem! This isn't even promoted by XP-pen itself. once I saw the remote being a recommended accessory for the magic drawing pad, i had to do some deep diving on the internet and found a reddit post that explained the firmware update. if you connect the remote to the android xppen remote app and you see the names of the button shortcuts, the firmware is already up to date. if all the shortcut labels are blank, then go to the xppen chat and they'll cough you up a link and instructions in 3 minutes.
@@Just_a_commenter i reeplied twice but the comment keeps getting deleted and this isn't even illegal data. XP-Pen has the android support APK on their very website and if you chat with their support line to say you want your remote to work on android, they will pass you a firmware update, legally and for free. i dont see why this has to be deleted

Now *this* is a review I was looking forward to seeing from you. I greatly value your input and these devices look fantastic on paper, so I'm curious what your experience was like! Will update comment after watching the video entirely. Edit: At this point I am very interested in getting the 165hz version. My eyes are fairly sensitive to differences in screen frequency, so while the hz bump may not be as noticeable to others, I think I do have a higher likelihood of noticing and valuing the higher refresh rate. It helps that the 165hz version is also cheaper, but the resolution is perfectly fine, too. For the longest time I've used 1440p screens at various sizes, and at 23.8" this device still has a pixel density of 123PPI, putting it around the middle of the 110-140PPI range for comfortable viewing. Would I notice the clarity bump by going to 4K for 185PPI on a 23.8" display? Probably. Would I prefer a higher refresh rate over that extra clarity? Almost certainly. Gonna put some serious consideration into buying this display.
@@3polygons Not a concern for me. I already have a fan blowing at my setup to circulate air in my computer room, and I always draw with a glove on, so it should be fine.
Just an FYI, 0% smoothing in Photoshop doesn't fully disable smoothing, you need to go into the brush properties and uncheck it there to completely turn it off.
I got my first tablet from XP Pen, I think it was the 15.6 (not the pro). I loved it and still use it to this date, however, I am ready for a bigger screen that will last me for years. I will give this one to my daughter because she loves to draw. If not I will make a little girl happy, I have a co-worker that she tells me her daughter is a talent artist. Now for this one, I will get this by the end of this year and might take Brad classes in case if I am missing something.
For my Huion 24" 2.5K, I prefer the lower resolution when it comes to overall UI legibility. Now, if I had the Huion 27", I think the full 4K would be perfect. The price here on the 2.5K is pretty amazing.
Hi brad i just got the new iPad mini and im new to drawing. Your old intro to drawing videos are very helpful. I really want to take the intro to drawing lessons over on your website but it’s too expensive for me after just buying a new iPad and Apple Pencil. When do you think you can do a 50% or better discount on the 60 day of drawing lessons. Thanks. I’ve been following you since the surface go 2 video came out. Thanks again you and Ryan Trahan our my favorite RUclipsrs. I want to be an animator for Disney when i grow up and your like my hero :). Thanks for all the good videos and the help with drawing.
Dang, I would have thought the higher refresh rate would have solved any perceived lag going on, I guess not. I wish Microsoft would collab with tablet manufacturers or something to get the lag down to stand alone tablet level.
Quite unexpected... I thought Brad will cheer for 4k. But he says QHD and 4k not much difference, and 160hz makes it more multi purpose? There are not much reviews yet, but I've heard some guys admire "how smooth stroke feels on 160hz". Tbh I don't know about that... I work all my life on 60hz Dell monitors + Wacom Intuos pro and I never felt any lags I could perceive while drawing. Also I'm surprised Brad didn't say a word about new super color management improvements. Xppen really pumps it loud, and previous gen was quite far behind in colors from Cintiq pro.
Do you happen to have a friend who does sculpting in Zbrush or similar? I'm on the fence, wondering which XP-PEn to buy. All gen 2, but 19", 24 4K or 24 165Hz. I'm especially curious about the 165Hz, and how it feels to sculpt in Zbrush, but it seems XP-Pen favors review units to 2D artists, which is a pity.. I gather what you're saying is there is still the certain "input lag", in lack of a better term, between the pen and the display showing the new strokes. So the benefit of 165Hz does not really help at all? Would love to see someone using it in sculpting telling me their experience, whether the 165Hz is worth it, or if a 60Hz (still, sadly..) is t he way to go.
Returning to this comment since I was curious as well, and bit the bullet very recently. I work early drafts/lower res more often than not & as someone who rotates and transposes views profusely, the high refresh rate is a dream, buttery smooth and easy on the eyes. This might help with eye fatigue and sluggishness but it's too early to tell. I can't speak for everyone, but since the screen is so close to my face, the upgrade in responsiveness (consider peripheral vision as well) has had more of an impact than I (imagine) a higher pixel density might.
As the owner of these Chinese-made tablets, I can confirm they get the job done. However, my Huion tablet only lasted four years, and finding a service center in my country has been quite challenging. Is anyone else facing similar issues?
Having the same issue right now, Bought Kamvas 24 plus in 2022, the pen feature died within a year, tried to get it fixed they said it'll almost cost 60% of the price of the tablet, and just today the display died. So got no option but to buy a new one, will be going for XP-Pen this time. Huion failed at customer service.
@@somethingelse928 I had a Wacom Cintiq 24 QHD and it lasted 3 years before the dreaded wavy vertical lines appeared. They quoted me £900 to fix it so I didn't bother. I bought a Huion 16" but it was awful. The paralax made it unusable so I sent it back and bought a Wacom 16" instead. So far that's been fine but I miss the screen real estate of the 24. I'd be worried about spending over a grand on an XP pen when money is a real issue.
I got the gen 2 60hz 4k model and no matter what settings i use in Windows display panels or nvidia control panels it is so soft and blurry at every scale. But my 250 dollar 4k montior is crystal sharp.
this is because of the etched glass, use a screen protector to eliminate the nano texture to get a sharp display. same issue with all brands, i used Huion and wacom.
im still trying to figure out why do the alt wacom companies still have yet to input touch on their Display tablets? Like they've manage to hit all the boxes except for adding screen touch?
Hey brad! How good is the pen tilt compensation? I have the 16 inch one and there is a lot of cursor offset when tilting. I also heard that the glass is thicker than in the 16 inch one.
i bought the 24 4k and its arrive yesterday it looks like the old cintiq 24 which i like, i would have gone to get huion if they release a new gen for their 24 inch but they dont have that yet and 27 inch is kinda expensive, but anyway i like the xp pen 24 fits my needs and works great and looks good on my table i dispose my cintiq 22 the resolution is unworkable for me now
6:00 As someone who has limited desk space and still has to have two monitors (regular and XP-Pen 22R Pro) in said limited space, the notion that this thing could double as a regular monitor for when I'm not drawing sounds very appealing. Just wondering how well it handles games like Resident Evil 4 Remake or Baldur's Gate 3.
At this point..i think we're at diminishing returns ..i have the last gen xp pen artist 24 pro.... Whats the reason to upgrade??.. All these tablets are at a good standard now.. 4kvs 2k doesnt make much of a difference when its only a 24 inch display.. 60fps vs 120 fps doesn't make much difference when your pc is powerful enough..and in gaming you still need v-sync or g-sync.. Pen pressure is solid all around.. Wobble is good all round now. Drawing tablets are at the apex now.. What they need to do now..is make them all in one PCs..with decent batteries so i can move around with them.. That maybe the next step..put a powerfull lil 6840u AMD PC on the back
@@htsunmikuYeah, I'm upgrading from a 2008 cintiq and a small iPad pro to this. I'm getting this most recent model, because I want to be using it at least 5 years into the future, ideally more. My idea is that it will be supported for longer than the old gen, so I can use it well into the future with no problems. It has some subtle but good differences (etched glass vs AG film, slightly better pen, better colours) but those certainly don't justify an upgrade if nothing about the OG version is broken. I don't think these are like iPhones where you're expected to upgrade every couple of years (not that I ever have lol)
All display tablets (Xppen or Huion or gaomon) which come out the past 3 years are acceptable and stil reliable in my opinion. These new released models are for those who doesn't own any display tablet, or they own one but smaller screen size, so they want to upgrade a bigger size tablet. They are actually the target audience.
There is so much to do better still. I have the Artist 24 and the contrast is pretty bad for one. I can't see anything in dark scenes. Next obvious steps for displays are OLED and better pen tilt/rotate
If I may ask, is there much of a difference in color banding between 4k and 165hz model? The 4k has FRC on 8bit panel while 165hz does not. I'm surprised nobody actually went into more detail comparing the actual differences between the two models and chose to only review one of the two. Like comparing line speed, fluidity, smoothness, color accuracy, color banding, and well... sharpness. Is the fake 10bit and extra color accuracy actually worth the extra $200+ on the 4k panel?
Does this XP-Pen also have a rotation axis for the pen? It's one of those obscure things that almost no one uses, and I really enjoy. So being able to rotate the barrel of the pen and change the orientation of the brush like a calligraphic pen. Would love to know!
Brad, been watching your videos all morning. What would you say is the best wired only (no-bluetooth) display/non-display tablet overall? Especially with a beginner in mind. My wireless needs are due to company policy.
Hello Mr. Brad, thank you for all your helpful videos. I have a question for you and everyone who reads my comment. I recently bought an xppen 24 inc 4k gen2. After connecting it to my MacBook Pro and installing the drivers, I noticed that the texts and icons are soft and blurry, not sharp as in the laptop screen or the other additional 4K screen that I have. I changed the cables from USB Type C to HDMI, reinstalled the drivers, and changed the device to a Windows device and to another Mac device, but every time the same result appears, the soft and blurry screen. Do you have any solution for this problem, please? And is this problem generally present in XPPEN products? Thank you
That taper issue that you mentioned. Would that be something you can take care of in the drawing software itself. I think its a setting in photoshop that you can adjust
yes. from the wobbly lines to nice tapper, it all can be fix using software like Lazy Nezumi or CSP. Huion has better lines because their tablet have built in smoothing in the driver unlike xppen (there is a guy running tests on huion displays and he confirmed that huion is a bit lag while drawing because he found there is smoothing feature in the driver). Wacom has great lines with no built in smoothing whatsoever.
Hey Brad! Thanks for the review I know a lot of these screens have a certain level of blue to them due to the fact of the screen being etched. But I keep hoping that as the technology gets more refined the blurriness will continue to diminish until it finally goes away. How would you say the blurriness of these is? I briefly had a 24 inch 2.5k Huion that I had to return because the blur gave me migraines.
i have returned 5 times Huion 24 4k. u know what? all 5 got different levels of blurriness. all etched glass are not uniform on all units. my 6th unit was soo perfect with very less blurriness compared to others. so its a luck. i wish companies need to focus on uniformity before shipping their products. i tried wacom too, same issue... also wacom got rainbow sparkle too, thats even more worse from my experience.
@@vijayangester6846 Thanks for the insight about Huion. Although i never own a Huion screen tablet, your comment just gives me a glimpse the overall quality of the Huion brand.
WHAT. I have no idea why this video came up in my recommendations, as I've never looked for drawing tablets, and don't want one. What I do want, and what I've been looking for for years, is a 24" just plain monitor with good image quality and better dpi/refresh than the 1080/60hz that seems to be all there is. I certainly wouldn't get a pair of these for my PC, and yes, that bezel makes sure of that, but seeing this panel is somewhat confounding.
Hello, can I have installed Wacom drivers (for my wacom tablats) and XP driver at the same time? Or have I to one of these drivers everytime I want to switch my tablets?
I wonder if this setup would be possible: A stand with a rotating feature and a display tablet that with a button can switch orientation from landscape to portrait. So if you are drawing something wide or tall you can rotate the tablet accordingly. Is that possible with any known display?
Can you tell us about the AG Etched Glass and AF Coating? How much texture does the screen offer when drawing? is it equal to the xp pen Gen 2 series tablets?
Hey Brad another great video. XP Pen and Huion have come such a long way to be Wacom competitors. I just recently got a Cintiq 16 and love it but ive tried al lthese as well and IDK what it is about the cintiq, it has less features than these newer ones but I just like it better. Side note question, You mentioned in a response before intrigue in a comic im making (Noir detective dog) was curious if you have a way or interest, for me to send you the page I have done and get your feedback or opinion? If not its ok figure it cant hurt to ask.
I was wondering if you could tell me like your opinion since you have reviewed so many tablets or anyone else in the commons who have reviewed a lot of tablets what would be their number one 15.6-16 inch screen tablets from Huion and from xppen? Please let me know
Hey brad, could you confirm if these support HDR? That's my main gripe with drawing tablets. I use a macbook air and a monitor with HDR and i really cant draw comfortably on drawing tablets with mere 250 nits and below brightness. HDR usually "boosts" that to 400 and up so im curious. P.S. I actually switched back to a drawing tab because of this and im looking for the next tablet to support HDR.
Looks appealing, but I can't get behind any XP-Pen product anymore after my Artist 22R Pro died on me without any warning. All the pressure sensitivity just stopped working one day. Also the drivers are absolutely abysmal on these devices, and there is not support at all.
I need help deciding something: (looking for a stand alone device for art) should i buy the tab p12+pen plus or should i buy the tab s6 lite (2024) (the tab s9 Fe is more expensive were i live, taht is why im asking)
I've had major trouble with pen alignment, with XP Pen monitors in the past. Has anyone had any trouble with that on this model? I'm tied between this and the Kamvas 19 Pro. Around the same price right now w black Friday prices, but this has a larger screen and the wheel on the pen I prefer.
i bought it its ok you just have to calibrate it until u get it, cintiq out of the box is the most accurate, i have a huion kamvas 24 the previous version too its accurate in the middle out of the box but not in the sides not sure about the new gen, xp pen 24 4k is my main now
@deepseakraken89 Are you using the Gen 2? I usually use Huion. I tried Wacom and it had to be calibrated too lol. Stuck on getting the 24 4k. gen 2, or sticking with Huion, but I really want a bigger screen 🥲
@@luciid1387 yeah i bought the 24 4k gen 2 i would have bought huion but their 24 4k is not yet updated like the 19 and 27, i need high resolution display too it helps a lot not to crowd the softwares UI's, my only concern is compared to the othre dsiplay i have the screen is kinda clowdy i think its becuase of the anti glare they put on the screen or texture maybe but anyway no regrets can afford to spend money on a cintiq pro anyway XD
From what i see after watching this vid, not worth it. Brad seems like to prefer the 165Hz more than the 4k version because he stated that the resolution not that different. So, i'll pass that one. And as with the 165hz, it has a downside, it's get warmer as the screen have to do double the works compare to the 60hz one (as Brad reviewed in the video). I'm afraid the 165hz version might be failed a little sooner than expected. The only upgrade you really get is the new pen tech. I watch reviews, and people still buying the 24 inch you have although it came out years ago. If you really want to step up, better go for bigger screen than the one you own and screen size does matter than the pen tech. Right now, Huion and Wacom have them but costly.

Hello there, did anyone know what is the stylus pen name the smaller and the larger one? I wanted to buy them separately but I don't know the stylus name. Can anyone tell me please?😃
I do not know why XP Pen, in its promotion emphasizes that its tablets have no lag, because of the increase of Hz...I don't know why they pretend to deceive people with something that is a lie, since the lag depends on your computer and the program you use. It seems that they have learned from apple, adding unnecessary things just to put them big in the ads, even though it doesn't really serve any purpose at a functional level. I don't mean that it's not a good thing to have more hertz, of course it is, but not for the reasons they try to sell.
@@86lanzo that is not actually correct. The latency created by the pen itself will be the same no matter what, this is basically just a monitor so all the lag depends on your PC. The faster refresh rate only makes the cursor or menus opening smoother but it has no difference in performance, it just looks better.
@@86lanzo it's not true. The tablet is a display, the cursor follow the pen, and the latency is caused by the performance of the computer and app you are using. It’s like a game. A videogame can run to 120hz in a 120hz screen, but the lag is generated by the performance of the computer or the internet connection in online mode, not the hz. It has no sense to promote that the hz generates no lag. It’s a lie.
if u have only 1 machine its hard to enjoy games on a slow 60hz drawing tablet. plus, large tablets take up a lot of desk space if use another monitor to play games. these new tablets can b multipurpose
XP-Pen have also made their own Android tablet - the "Magic Pad" - same size as a Samsung S10+ but £400 less.... quickly looking at it, there's none of the Samsung / Android bloatware?
why can't xp pen make a 1440p for the 22 inches???? , 4k is useless at 24 inches , the gains over 1440p at 24 inches are small ( 122 ppi vs 186ppi ) ,seems big , but the bigger the ppi value is , the noticeable the increases are, especially if you have the display at 50 cm from the eyes , for instance , 1440p would be too low for 27 inches tablets ( 108 ppi ) if the 22 inches tablets were at 1440p instead of 1080p , we would get 134 ppi instead 100ppi , 34 ppi differences at this scale ,the difference is bigger than the 44ppi between 4k an 1440o at 24 inches
for art 4k > qhd 165hz all day... I can't understand why they didn't make only one version with 4k 100hz or 75 at least... or better yet one with 60 hz but 10bit...
@penholder7765 there is a huge difference between 2k and 4k specially in large monitors (24 +) according to your logic, in theory a ferrari and a Toyota camry are both the same, I mean both of them are cars but in reality... well I think I don't have to explain it.. if we speak about art only, in this particular case, there is no way any pro artist out there will pick a 2k monitor VS 4k resolution display for digital art.. in this case the refresh rate doesn't matter at all.. pixel density, color accuracy and depth, good contrast, good brightness is what we are looking for, refresh rate is the last thing we care about, and don't get me wrong, ofc a high refresh rate would be nice but not more important than the resolution.. but don't take my word for granted and go find the truth for yourself.. if you can, test both resolution and then you can decide which one is better for drawing :)
@@c0sm1c-b0y im saying on behalf of what Brad just reviewed. He said that the different (clarity) between the two 24 variation not that significant. I know obviously 4k is better than 2k, but based on what Brad just reviewed, it says different.
So you want high refresh rate for animation or video-related work. But you want specifically 120Hz or variable refresh rate. 120 goes into all the common animation frame rates you might use 12, 24, 15, 30, and 60. It has very little to do with lag or latency or for gaming. There is a reason Wacom picked that refresh rate. The 165Hz on this seems to be a bigger number better as you might expect from someone who doesn't understand why the feature is there. For gaming, I just know that getting the ghosting, latency and other things down is not always well done and so I am just not sold that this would make a good gaming monitor so it needs to stand on its own for art and the choice of 165Hz without mentioning VRR has me questioning whether it would actually be good for what you would want a higher refresh rate monitor in art which is animation.

@@christosgikas735 Oh I'm planning on using it only for drawing, I already have a 34 inch 4k 180hz monitor for gaming, animation and video editing, So I dont mind getting the 4k with 60hz since I won't use it for gaming, But if you say XP pen is better then I'll get it, I always used to hear people say the Huion has better pen technology and better drawing experience, but it seems in your experience XP has bridged the gap with this new 24 inch monitor.
XP-Pen being the first non-wacom tablet line to have more than 60hz refresh rate instantly bumps it up in the drawing tablet rankings for me.
I'm glad that your review of it was good 😅
Good for you. don't give up on your art
Which one did you get the 4K 1 or the 120 refresh rate one
@@hannahdeards9652Have you had any issues? Mainly with pen calibration/alignment?
Perfect timing man 😂 i was looking for reviews about this tablet.
Same here, I don't spend this kind of money without thoroughly researching first.
@faelwolf1177 Yeah, especially at these prices. You need to know every detail.

It gets warmer, tho...
@@3polygons Not a concern for me. I already have a fan blowing at my setup to circulate air in my computer room, and I always draw with a glove on, so it should be fine.
I miss the red dials on Xp-pen devices. It's so fast and easy to change brush size, and it's so satisfying.
Yeah! Idk why they took those out.
This has been my dream tablet since they released the 2nd gen 16 version. I knew holding out until they made a 24inch one would be worth it
It never fails, right when you do the Glove Dance, RUclips decides to interrupt with an ad.
Perfect time to open RUclips and see another amazing review of this channel, Good morning
I would genuinely love a color calibration video
Reason why he doesn’t see it easily is probably due to anti glare layer which makes image soft even on 4k version
NO WAY I WAS WAITING FOR THIS :D!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I could have this for my project I work on in blender and stuff.. man pretty nice.
Love the video!
As the owner of these Chinese-made tablets, I can confirm they get the job done. However, my Huion tablet only lasted four years, and finding a service center in my country has been quite challenging. Is anyone else facing similar issues?
Do you recommend spending a 1k $ on these tablets ? Or is it not as efficient as the wacom?
Having the same issue right now, Bought Kamvas 24 plus in 2022, the pen feature died within a year, tried to get it fixed they said it'll almost cost 60% of the price of the tablet, and just today the display died. So got no option but to buy a new one, will be going for XP-Pen this time. Huion failed at customer service.
@rahulujjal8245 Thanks for the info
Brad is looking good
i bought the 24 4k and its arrive yesterday it looks like the old cintiq 24 which i like, i would have gone to get huion if they release a new gen for their 24 inch but they dont have that yet and 27 inch is kinda expensive, but anyway i like the xp pen 24 fits my needs and works great and looks good on my table i dispose my cintiq 22 the resolution is unworkable for me now
Hey , what computer do you use with it? Windows, Mac or Linux?
Looks amazing! Would you recommend this over the latest Huion models?
That maybe the next step..put a powerfull lil 6840u AMD PC on the back
This is more for people who haven't updated in years (basically like most tech now)
I'm still using a huion kamvas pro 13 2017/18
@@htsunmiku good point
All display tablets (Xppen or Huion or gaomon) which come out the past 3 years are acceptable and stil reliable in my opinion. These new released models are for those who doesn't own any display tablet, or they own one but smaller screen size, so they want to upgrade a bigger size tablet. They are actually the target audience.
There is so much to do better still. I have the Artist 24 and the contrast is pretty bad for one. I can't see anything in dark scenes. Next obvious steps for displays are OLED and better pen tilt/rotate
The glove dance makes me smile every time :D
If I may ask, is there much of a difference in color banding between 4k and 165hz model? The 4k has FRC on 8bit panel while 165hz does not.
I'm surprised nobody actually went into more detail comparing the actual differences between the two models and chose to only review one of the two. Like comparing line speed, fluidity, smoothness, color accuracy, color banding, and well... sharpness.
Is the fake 10bit and extra color accuracy actually worth the extra $200+ on the 4k panel?
Hi Brad pls make a video about drawing remotes for iPad pls
I love your videos so much Brad
Try watch Teoh Yie Chie vid on the comparison between a 4k Huion and a 4k Xppen (19inch display tablet). The vid just released yesteday btw.
as a wacom guy my first response was blimey, that's cheap! and a second pen that's another £80
I wish i could trade in my old xpen 24inch for a discount on this one.
Can you connect it to a surface pro tablet? Also, would you still use it if it were a computer screen?
Does this XP-Pen also have a rotation axis for the pen? It's one of those obscure things that almost no one uses, and I really enjoy. So being able to rotate the barrel of the pen and change the orientation of the brush like a calligraphic pen. Would love to know!
Sadly seems only wacom have in some of thier products and recently apple pro pencil
Idk what is rotation functionality, but it does have tilt functionality
2:10 How's that adobe suite treating you? lol
Thank you
Omg literally came here to search for the answer too😢 I just got the 165hz version and i have the same issue!
Looks great. Good review.
Great line test but no tilt test?
That taper issue that you mentioned. Would that be something you can take care of in the drawing software itself. I think its a setting in photoshop that you can adjust
yes. from the wobbly lines to nice tapper, it all can be fix using software like Lazy Nezumi or CSP. Huion has better lines because their tablet have built in smoothing in the driver unlike xppen (there is a guy running tests on huion displays and he confirmed that huion is a bit lag while drawing because he found there is smoothing feature in the driver). Wacom has great lines with no built in smoothing whatsoever.
Hey, I was wondering if you'd tried out the Kindle scribe. Seems a lot like the remarkable, and I was considering it earlier.
Hey Brad! Thanks for the review
I know a lot of these screens have a certain level of blue to them due to the fact of the screen being etched.

I wonder if this setup would be possible:
A stand with a rotating feature and a display tablet that with a button can switch orientation from landscape to portrait. So if you are drawing something wide or tall you can rotate the tablet accordingly.
Is that possible with any known display?
Maybe stream deck macro controlling display orientation on system?
Can you tell us about the AG Etched Glass and AF Coating? How much texture does the screen offer when drawing? is it equal to the xp pen Gen 2 series tablets?
so whats the point of the 165hz if software and stuff cant keep up with that?
Hey Brad another great video. XP Pen and Huion have come such a long way to be Wacom competitors.
P.S. I actually switched back to a drawing tab because of this and im looking for the next tablet to support HDR.
btw a good tip might be to lower the refresh rate when drawing, and have wacom support that through a shortcut button
What's better xp pen artist 16 2nd gen or huion kamvas 16 pro not the 2.5 k ?
I wonder why bezel so huge? I don't really rest my hand on bezel. They need to make thin compact 27 inch OLED, like Movink but bigger.
Because those bezels really help a lot when drawing all over the display easily.

I have the XP-Pen 24 Pro from a few years ago and it works great! Buuuut I am tempted to upgrade to one of these. Would it be worth it?
I do believe you are right. Thanks!

Fast Refresh rate makes a world of difference when using Zbrush for 3d sculpting.
Its not really deception..some lag can be caused by the tablet itself..but in this case there's no lag because of the tablet.
50/50
It’s a lie.
God I want that 1440p 165hz XP Pen!
Didn't think of the heat.
But still, 165hz for me. Right resolution at the right size plus i play games
GLove dance x 2 omg YES! ::) one for every screen.
Hey Brad. That shoe string only happens in Photoshop.
still chilling with wacom tbh
People who get drawing tablets and iPads for gaming is peak consumerism lmao
I miss your theme song playing at the beginning and end of your videos
imagine spending 1k$ on a graphic tablet that has Gaming as a key selling point OMEGALUL
if u have only 1 machine its hard to enjoy games on a slow 60hz drawing tablet. plus, large tablets take up a lot of desk space if use another monitor to play games. these new tablets can b multipurpose
@@shipisleaving i dont think people planning to buy tablets of this size have limited desk space in the first place
Basically a drawing tablet that you can also game on? What a deal 😂
yo i have the most starred tablet in amazon it is deez xp pen deco 640
Is it a touch screen ?
No, if it had that i would cost atleast 200 more
"Do both Huion and XP-Pen pen display support and connect to the new iPad Pro M4 with USB-C to USB-C? Has anyone tried this?"
XP-Pen have also made their own Android tablet - the "Magic Pad" - same size as a Samsung S10+ but £400 less.... quickly looking at it, there's none of the Samsung / Android bloatware?
why can't xp pen make a 1440p for the 22 inches???? , 4k is useless at 24 inches , the gains over 1440p at 24 inches are small ( 122 ppi vs 186ppi ) ,seems big , but the bigger the ppi value is , the noticeable the increases are, especially if you have the display at 50 cm from the eyes ,
for instance , 1440p would be too low for 27 inches tablets ( 108 ppi )
if the 22 inches tablets were at 1440p instead of 1080p , we would get 134 ppi instead 100ppi , 34 ppi differences at this scale ,the difference is bigger than the 44ppi between 4k an 1440o at 24 inches
Please just make a color calibration video instead cause I get confused on what it is
Love XP pen because these items just came out and they’re already on sale lmao.
for art 4k > qhd 165hz all day... I can't understand why they didn't make only one version with 4k 100hz or 75 at least... or better yet one with 60 hz but 10bit...
In theory. But in reality, Brad said that the 4k and the 165 not have that much different.
@penholder7765 there is a huge difference between 2k and 4k specially in large monitors (24 +) according to your logic, in theory a ferrari and a Toyota camry are both the same, I mean both of them are cars but in reality... well I think I don't have to explain it.. if we speak about art only, in this particular case, there is no way any pro artist out there will pick a 2k monitor VS 4k resolution display for digital art.. in this case the refresh rate doesn't matter at all.. pixel density, color accuracy and depth, good contrast, good brightness is what we are looking for, refresh rate is the last thing we care about, and don't get me wrong, ofc a high refresh rate would be nice but not more important than the resolution.. but don't take my word for granted and go find the truth for yourself.. if you can, test both resolution and then you can decide which one is better for drawing :)

im saying on behalf of what Brad just reviewed.
Just came today the 165hz..i also have the huion kanvas 24 4k...so decided to take the 165hz and boy ohhh boy...the speed is ingredible
Hey, Im planning to upgrade to a 24 inch monitor, Its between Huion Kamvas 24 4k or this XP pen 24 inch, I would love to know your personal reccomendation since you own both. Ive been drawing on a 16 inch huion for 4 years now, Im quite used to the brand.
@@Tokka-_-0 they are both great but the xp pen is new model and gives ypu more accesories...i would recomment the 4k xppen expect if you want yo use the monitor also as a pc display...Then go with the 165hz...1440p and 4k is not very big difference...
Tempting... But I think I'll hold off for awhile.
Okay, there's a Glove Dance, so I click Like.
