just saw a documentary about john lautner and I was amazed by his work. In that one hour he totally made me wanna start an architecture career, cause the way he did those houses are so unique. And the minute that I saw the houses my heart was like beating super fast and now I know what I want from life, so thanks. Please please please upload some videos of him and his houses, I need to see them all!
I was talking to an architect a few years ago, he said he'd visited Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesen West & didn't like it. He thought Wright was over hyped, & his influence is nowhere to be seen today. I told him he must have failed his architectural history classes because he was grossly ignorant of Wright's architectural contributions & of the names & works of Wright's many disciples. Lautner was one of those disciples.
It's because suburban houses are generally stripped away from the environment and you have less space to work with. These houses were molded to fit their surroundings almost perfectly. It's disrespectful to say an architect of his caliber wouldn't do anything special if he built for a suburb
@golddigger0325 Where did u see a documentary of John Lautner , was it free and available online , i would be very thankful of u if u can provide me the link , pls.
So much of the "wow!" of this video is due to location/vista. Put the same architecture into a suburban sprawl environment and it would lose much of its grandeur. (I still "favorited" the video.)
Well, you were simply stating a big part of what architecture and design is. It’s not always about the building it’s about the empty space around it that frames in the building. Some music is that way it’s not the music itself it’s the silence in between notes. Good observation on your part, however I must defend Lautner and say that any of his houses could be put in the middle of a giant Walmart parking lot and they would still be mine blowing.

Phenomenal Talent thanks for posting!
An excellent exhibit on Lautner right now at the Palms Springs Art Museum.
This aired on Australian TV 2 months ago, Its a sensational documentary and worth viewing if you like Lautners work
As a person he was deeply pragmatic, as an architect, completely visionary.
Now that’s the way a home should look
Inovador, inspirado, precursor da arquitetura de fractais
Fantastic! I know what I want for Christmas now : )

Depois de Niemeyer, John Lautner vem eternizar as infinitas curvas do Universo... GADU
1:01 - That's a very brilliant staircase, no handle bars? Why not design your tomb beside it?
Handle bars?? really?/unless your riding a bike up the stairs.....No there are no Handle Bars....No "hand rail" either.
@@jimwhitman3678 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So we see 2 seconds of his best work in the video....?
Well, there’s a reason why they call a movie trailer a “teaser”... it teases you into wanting to see more.
They just aired this on Dutch TV. It was astounding..

Architecture shouldn't be art....Architecture should BE Architecture...That's all...
in your (+ mine) lovely dreams..
...but architecture is art. If you don`t consider
architecture as art, then you may as well call all art redundant!
Can I tell you how distracting that marimba is?
