Thanks for the review man, good to see stuff for the 79s that simply work and don’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. Would definitely like to see more of this, honest reviews of add ons that don’t break the bank.
cheers joying for the giveaway hopefully it ends up in my 79!
Entered, thanks!
You are correct, they really don't!
Good luck!
Thank you Joying.
I have a 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero NX and a 2000 Mazda Rx7 FD so I enjoy camping and track days just like yourself, but don't seem to have enough time for either.
I'm loving the detail you go into your videos Jonathan, especially all the rebuild videos you did with Omar at Raceonly.
keep up the good content
Entered, thanks! Thanks for the feedback also
Ohhh trust me i know how you feel! Good luck
Thanks Joying for the compo. Just bought 2022 79 myself and enjoy hearing the tech ideas you have done or looking into.

Awesome video and content for the TLC 70 series!
This video was very informative. Thank you Joying for making this promotion available, this is a great headunit based on Jono's review.
I drive a 1992 Toyota LC77 and have been looking to upgrade my stereo to an android unit - this is what I am going to go for!
Entered, thanks! Good luck
Ohh very cool, i love the older LCs just the same. I was really close to buying a 60 series wagon in sandy taupe a few years ago.

Thank you Joying and thank you Jonathon! I’ve heard of Joying products in the past and have always wanted to experience what they could offer. Loving the videos Jonathon! Currently driving an honda civic (ek). Some POV driving videos, DIY or even vlogging would be cool! Keep it up and I reckon consistently is key!

Thank you Joying. I own a 2012 Mitsubishi Triton and would love to get an upgrade from my old stock head unit. I love seeing content with you traveling with your family. I have a young son myself (11 months old) so it’s nice to see how you guys make it work.
Keep up the good work. Love the content

Loving the unit!
So awesome joying are able to to jump on and offer a promo like this with their incredible products.
One of these will also be sweet for my lc79, I’m currently looking around for one and this vid has made up my mind 👌🏽
Entered, thanks for watching!
Thanks Joying! And cheers Johnathon for the review and competition, I own a 2011 76 series with a stock as a rock head unit & sound system 😂 after watching your vid, this joying unit would be unreal in the cruiser! Keep it up mate.
Cheers
Entered, thanks!
I think it's one of those things once you've used one you couldn't live without especially on those long drives! 😂
Good luck
Thank you Joying, this would pop off in my 93' Toyota Supra over the single din unit I've had for years.
Really did enjoy this install and review

Thank you Joying for the give away!
I currently own a Evo 8, im sure this would be a great addition to modernise the interior!

Another cracking video. Keen to see some more trips. 12months in waiting for my sandy 79.
Love the look of your new screen
Entered, thanks for watching!
Thank you 🙂I really hope you get it soon... scrolling down the comments all i see are people waiting for their cruisers 😭
I have had the same top spec Joying 10.1 in my Landcruiser 76 for a few months.... Love it... Was by far the better value for money... High quality... Easy fitting...!!!
Excellent review 👌
Thanks for the feedback!
Agree i am absolutely loving mine!!!
Alex, what navigation app do you run and does it require internet?
I also installed an unit in my 76
Thank you Joying. I'm daily driving a defender 90 and i finally went through with upgrading the speakers to overpower the engine noise. Also 17:07 am in the same boat, cant stand free spotify and theres no way im paying £10 a month when i could use yt and listen to it for free. Great video, very detailed in showing the install. Cant wait to see more vids in the future
Entered, thanks! Very cool re-defender. I've driven one. 2 inch lift on 35s. Closest feeling to driving a 79 before having driven one!
Thanks for the feedback
So awesome for Joying to offer up a prize!
Keep the the content you are doing. Installs, semi reviews and wheeling videos are great watching.
Entered, thanks for watching!
Actually have the buzz to go wheeling again. Might do an overnighter soon!
Thanks for this video and continued content for the TLC 70 series!
This video was very informative. Thank you Joying for making this promotion available for all of us !
I drive a 2018 cruiser I saved for 7 years to get, it has updated sound system but the current head unit it has is so dysfunctional it’s not funny, basically good for Bluetooth connection and that’s about it !
Entered, thanks!
No problem. Oh it must have been a good feeling finally picking her up!
Good luck with it
Thank you Joying! I have an EK1 and NB/NA MX5.
I watched your full brake upgrade video and was able to complete the poor mans 262 and drum and to disc conversion on my ek1. Couldn't have done it without your video!
Id love to see a must have mods street/track edition for the EK chassis and hear your thoughts on each.
Entered, thanks! I'm glad it was helpful.
You may be interested in a video on the civic coming in the next few days.
Jono ! Thanks joying, with out them this wouldn’t have come to light.
Didn’t think my cruiser needed an upgrade but after watching this jono I think it might now haha
I’m still keen to see a review on the net gear data setup you have
Entered, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the feedback. The netgear setup is working really well but i need to take it out bush to really see if it helps with the type of "overlanding" i do. Hopefully soon!
Another great review Jonathon. Its great to see an unbiased review with a heap of information from buying to installation. The Joying head units look awesome and great value for a replacement of the original. The correspondence Ive had with Joying has been quick and informative to date. It would look great in my '22 LC 79 Series.
Entered, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you've had a similar experience with them!
@Jonathan do you think it’s an easy DIY project and did you upgrade the speakers?
@@MrSouwesta Hi mate
sorry i missed this comment!
No i haven't yet. I will but not yet, i love music but i don't love my audio enough. I really like the new Alpine door cards but unsure if they can be bought alone. The stock speakers seem to work fine for me at the moment and its my daily 👍
@@JCYT I just upgraded the factory speakers with Focal 4”. Sounds heaps better 👌
@@MrSouwesta ohhh ill have to look into it!
I was wondering if it would be possible to hook up my factory speakers to the UHF and just run door pod speakers. Guess I'll see what happens!
Thank you Joying, this would be mint in my 79 series.
Love these reviews keep them up, the installation guides makes doing mods easy!!!
Entered, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback and good luck
Congrats on the 1000 subs Jono! Loving the variety of videos (but more so the 4wd and RX7 ones 😂) more track and camping videos!
Thanks Joying! This will be going in my 105 series Landcruiser 😂 not much use in the evo haha.
Entered, thanks!
I KNOW! over the moon!
Thanks for the feedback. I think the variety has been difficult for me to handle. But we will see what happens.
Also didn't know you bought a 105! Grats!
Thanks joying just bought a 2014 gxl 79 with the stock radio so this would be a great upgrade. What a great review
Entered, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback also and good luck
Thank you Joying! New subscriber for you, loving the videos. I've just got my dream car literally one month ago, a 2019 LC79 Single Cab. Still go on extra trips everywhere just to drive it! It just feels right. I've recently just started my own RUclips channel all about 4wd, travelling and modifying the cars, Mud,Mods and Beers. Have a look and you will see the new rig! Really miss the tech in my hilux, really need this head unit for my work truck now!
Entered, thanks!
Thanks also for subscribing.
Just had a look at your channel, love how you send the 79 😁
I'm in the same boat, do miss the tech of the hilux but love the 79. Good luck
@@JCYT thanks mate!
Thank you Johnathon. Great video of the Joying product. Structured well and price point up front was appreciated. I have a 79 single cab. Would like to put the Joying unit in.
Entered, thanks!
Thank you for the feedback. It's amazing how some products can be so marked up...
Good luck!
Another fantastic video mate!
I really like the look of that. I hadn’t even considered Joying. We still run the stock headunit because I can’t decide what to go with and like you were saying, some products are extortionate for what they are.
It’s awesome that Joying were able to give you a free headunit for the competition! Thank you, Joying!
As you know, we have a 79. Besides that, I ride a Harley.
Future content! An epic K’gari/Fraser trip with us 💪🏼

Thank you Joying - I drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser in the "almost but not quite sandy taupe" colour as well as a Hyundai i30N. The FJ is in serious need of a headunit upgrade as the factory unit is terrible. This Android unit looks amazing.
Content-wise I'm really enjoying the channel but would love to see more 4wd'ing and camping videos in the future 👌
Entered, thanks!
It sure is a clean cruiser!

*FOLLOWUP QUESTIONS IN THIS PINNED POST*
Q: Can you access the hazard switch?
A: Yes easy access behind the top of the headunit and it's not too tight either. I wanted to relocate it to where i've got the RJ45 outlet for the UHF. The same way PVS have done it. But i actually like where the RJ45 outlet is.. so currently in two minds about it. The only difference it would make is if someone else was driving the car.
Q: What is the model of the unit? Single or double DIN?
A: My particular model is a double DIN. A single DIN would work the same and perhaps would suit better as the screen could sit higher up without needing me to make a bracket.
That said i cannot confirm fitment!
Q: Link for unit?
A: www.joyingauto.com/newest-high-resolution-1920-1200-android-10-1-double-din-car-radio.html

Hi Jonathan, really informative video, thanks! I have a 2016, 76 series so do you know if this type of head unit would fit into the 76 as the factory standard unit is different in the 76 to the 79? Phil
Thanks JC and Joying. great review and would love to see more down to earth reviews . Im doing 79 build as well and this looks Mint. I have android and totally agree with your Android aspects. Jon - what scan guage are you usuing - any thoughts as to what to get.

haha i must admit i'm a sucker for all things android
I am using the Ultragauge OBD2 reader - got it from Precise Auto
Had it on the hilux also - love it!
Thanks Jonathan, great review. I have a Subaru 2008 WRX STI which had a factory nav unit. It was replaced a few year ago with a Pioneer head unit which supports android auto. I want to replace this with a new Joying unit.
Joying’s web site seems to indicate they have a warehouse in Australia.
Do they have warehouse in Australia?
Does the 4G support all Australian Carriers?
Hey mate sweet! I actually have a mate with one fitted in his wrx sti I think his one is a 2009.
As far as I know yes they do have a warehouse in aus but my headunits have all come from the China location. At the time they didn't have many models locally.
The 4G is compatible yes. I had an older Joying unit in my hilux with a telstra 4G sim. You need to go into the settings an enter a few settings. If you get stuck with it reach out and I can send you the settings.
just came across this vid and love it and think it will improve my troopy sound system (not hard ), did you work out how to lift screen up ,this is my only concern
Hey mate sorry for getting back to you so slowly.
Yes i did! I used a sheet of aluminium, screwed in the 4 clips into the bracket and screwed down the screen to the aluminum sheet. I don't remember how much i lifted it up but it was about an inch. The only problem i faced was having to retap the screw thread on the screen as i could not source and little screws locally (or don't know how to). They're tiny little electrical ones. I found what i could at jaycar (M3) and carefully retapped them. No problems though. When i get a moment, i will do a video for everyone asking.
It really isn't that bad without being lifted though. Actually most of the ones on the market are at this height also.
Your steering wheel is on the wrong side!!!....lol.!!jk....great video!!,.you have made joying some money, I'm on my way to buy one now!!!....cheers mate!!
It is on the RIGHT side! Enjoy mate

I think they do? www.joyingauto.com/joying-plug-and-play-car-radio-for-vw-skoda-seat-car-with-9-inch-1280x720screen.html
Great video mate! What were the specs of your mates new joying head unit? Looking at getting the same one from them. Also did he have to buy any other parts from them? Cheers
Hey, really good video, thanks. If you don’t mind I have a couple of questions. Is it annoying that there is no physical volume knob? I was thinking that would be a problem off-road. Do you know if Joying have anything that would fit a land cruiser 70 series with a volume knob? Also are there any smaller units, say 8 inch, that would fit? Can you turn the unit off independently of the ignition? Cheers
Hey mate sorry for the late reply!
1) To be honest yes - for a 70 series cruiser (which doesn't have steering wheel controls) i do find it annoying without the knob. However i plan to install a steering wheel with buttons soon. In my civic i have a joying unit with the physical knobs which are extremely useful.
2) All the units smaller will fit as they all mount in the same way. For a more natural fit i reckon the 8 inch is perfect. Personally i prefer the seamless look (with steering wheel controls)
3) You can turn off the screen from the drop down menu on the joying unit (puts it in sleep mode). Simply touch the screen to turn it back on. Alternatively if you wanted the unit fully shut down you would have to wire in a switch.
Hope that's helpful!
@@JCYT thanks for the answers. I've since browsed the Joying website some more. I noticed that the 9 inch has physical buttons and apart from the screen it looks the same as the one you installed. Am I missing anything there? Would it install the same way as yours? I think 9 inch would go ok, would probably be able to see the orignal clock and hazard lights button a little better. Cheers
Thanks for the video Jonathan you inspired me to get one. I got it installed in my 79. I got 2 questions for you.
Does your wired external mic give you grief?
How do you lower the ring volume?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
Hey mate
The wired external microphone sucks. I still use mine but will upgrade the mic when i get around to it. I've heard a few people using Rode micro and Alpine external microphone with good success.
I don’t think there's a way to lower ring volume. I find it a bit loud too. You could change the ringtone to a track with lower volume? That could be the way around it.
Hope you are enjoying it!
@@JCYT Thanks Jonathan. Will look into a new mic. And the ringtone I can't do nothing with it. Ah Well. Other then that the unit is awesome. Thanks for the reply.
Hey jonathan i fixed my mic issue. I have a vid on my channel hope it helps. ruclips.net/video/sHxdevRGmPY/видео.html
I think the VDJ79R was designed & intended to have the driver listen to any other noise than a straight through pipe engine sound muffled by the turbo fans.

Also how is the visual at night?
Hey mate correct it's Polaris
Visual is amazing at night!!! Partly due to the reverse lights from the Norweld tray. They're LED and super bright which does help with the image clarity
Awesome vid Jonathan. You mentioned your mate installed this unit into his N80 Hilux, did he do an install vid for that or at least have the list of harnesses he used to ensure all the functionality he had on the factory unit is accessible on the joying? Cheers mate
Hey mate
It was completely plug and play. Nothing extra was required. I ordered the kit for him and he installed it himself 👌
@@JCYT so no harnesses were required?
@@TheLifeOfLeonK no additional harnesses were required
Great review Jonathon. I went out and bought the Joying unit as I have the same car. I'm just stuck on the Video retention harness you say i need to get the ground from the joying harness and the reversing trigger. I've watched the video countless times but cannot see were to connect those two cables to the joying harness. If you could help it would be muchly appreciated.
Hey mate thanks for the feedback!
There are 3 wires needed to wire the Aerpro APVTY04 video retention harness
1) Yellow RCA male --> yellow RCA female from Joying harness
2) Purple wire (12V reverse trigger) --> reverse trigger on the 79. Look for a GREEN wire from one of the stock connectors from the original 79 series headunit. This GREEN wire that runs to a coil of black split conduit tubing. You can test it with a multimeter - pop it in reverse and this wire should read 12V. And 0V in other gears.
3) Black wire with ring terminal --> cut the ring terminal off and splice/solder/tap into the black wire of the joying harness (you can double check with a multimeter if this is a negative/ground)
Good luck and message me on FB if you can't sort it out.

@@JCYT Thank you so much, you have been a great help.
Thank you Joying. I own a 2011, 76 series I would love to win
Entered, thanks!
Good luck
Gday mate is this how I reply
@@mickgleeson8984 no mate just another spam bot. Don't worry you have entered
No worries mate I liked your review so much I ordered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 10.1
Well, that's what I was looking for my 79DC, an android device that really works. Your video is almost one year old and I was wondering how the screen looks like; scratchy? Any suggestion about RAM & ROM? Any newer model to consider?
Hi mate sorry for the slow response.
Yes 1 year on it's running very well. I had an intermittent flicker about 2 months ago (it would happen like once a week). I brought this up with Joying and they sent me out a new ribbon cable to the screen which fixed the problem.
6gb RAM and 128gb ROM i have been happy with. It exceeds my needs. They have released some newer models now, if i'm bored maybe i'll upgrade one day!
Great vid Jonathan! Your video made me bite the bullet and get the same unit for my Pajero!
Wondering if you know where the setting is to turn on the options bar at the bottom of the screen? Can’t seem to find it on my unit. Any help would be awesome!
Hi mate thanks for the feedback! I'll have a look for you tomorrow. Have you tried swiping up from the bottom to bring it up?
@@JCYT That would be awesome! Yep tried swiping up but nothing shows.
Hi Jonathon, You mentioned it may not be great for apple users and better for android or will apple work just as well? Thanks....Steering wheel looks great...looks like i may have to copy you!
What i mean by that comment is that the android based system requires far more customisation and tinkering than apple interface. For long time apple users, it will take some adjusting to get used to the menu/settings setup etc. Hope that helps!
Looks great I need to save up but would love to win one for my 76 series
Entered, thanks!
Good luck
Question: Your unit shows a 16 band equalizer but the product link advertised as a 32 band equalizer?
Hey mate
At the time of purchase (almost a year ago) those were the specs listed in the video. Joying continuously upgrade their products and perhaps they have upgraded the equaliser. Best to email them for confirmation
How did you go about moving the screen up level with the dash?? Cheers
Actually most of the ones on the market are at this height also.
have you got any info on the 4g router / antenna setup you've got going?
Hey mate, thanks for asking.
I do and i promise a video will come before the end of the year. The results (in metro Sydney) are promising but i want to do the video justice and am waiting to go out bush to see how it performs.
The setup is:
Nighthawk M6 PRO
RFI 6.5 DB 5G antenna
Telstra SIM linked to my data plan (shared data)
Sweet video bro! Me and a mate have just purchased one. Have you figured out a way to mount the display higher?
Hey mate!
Yes i've figure out a way just need to get around to it. I bought a flat sheet of stainless steel about 1mm thick. It's hard to explain but will screw the plate onto the back of the screen where the legs used to go and relocate the legs about 2cm lower onthe plate.
Do you have any pics you could send through
Hey bro how did you get the background
Hey JohnO, mate I noticed Joying has the 11.6inch screen, will this size be compatible like the 10.1 along with the 300 steering wheel upgrade. Site says it is still not available for Aus
Hi mate
I asked joying this and they said yes it's compatible with a software update. I believe it could fit the 79... the screen dimensions. But it would be super close to the vents! I'm pretty keen to try rhe 11.6 too haha. If you get it please report back 🙏
@@JCYT thank you mate 🙏🏽 again appreciate your channel informative entertaining. I will be putting in the order 🤸🏽♂️ with Joying will keep ya posted 👍🏽
