  • In this video we power test two Baojie BJ-318 radios and compare with an AnyTone 779UV radio. On high power, the BJ-318's only transmit at 1.5W on VHF compared with the AnyTone which puts out 20W.
This issues seems to be wide spread, because we are observing the problem on multiple radios, even brand new out of the box. We have received reports of others experiencing similar problems with BJ-318 as well as BJ-218.
Also note 3:53 when tested in low power, it appears to be off frequency as we see 262.095 instead of 146.520. It is possible that it is not enough power to get a proper reading, but we do not want to take a chance without a dummy load in case it is actually off frequency.
NOTE: We have tried multiple power sources and factory reset.
Tells us your thoughts in the comments. Faulty finals or amplifier?

My 218 actually puts out more than advertised.

Hello! Did you figure out what was causing the reduced power?

I have one with the same type of problem, I imagine it is the defective MOSFET output transistor, mine has a watt in VHF UHF working normally

Must be the batch. I've had one in my truck for a year. Never used anything but high. I've had it hot enough to burn my fingers. Just keeps working. The way these Chinese radios work. On or off. I had the same problem with UV5R.
