Steve Rothery is a bloody legend! Not many guitarists can move me to tears, but this guy nails it every time!!! There is 'sooo' much emotion in his playing!!! :-D
Easter floors me every single time, he is a true less is more player. I'm not into them but but everything up til and including marbles was for me. Astounding body of work.
"Not many guitarists can move me to tears ..." ---> Then you should have known Piotr Grudzinski from Riverside, I suppose? If not: check out their 'The same river', 'Reality Dream III', the fantastic final solo of 'Second life syndrome' and many more. For me Riverside are the best progressive Band of the new Millenium and Piotr was a magician. As one guy comments: "I've been playing guitar since the past 15 years now and have followed many great players like Vai, Satriani, Govan etc. Nothing has hit me more than Piotr's guitar playing. It was PURE class and genuine. It has changed my guitar playing approach. I don't want to compare but, in my honest opinion, he was the modern day Gilmour." Tragically last year he died suddenly at only 40 :-(

@@tomschmidt4355 Piotr was one of my favourite guitarists. He could be heavy one second, then melodic and emotional the next. A very sad loss.
I also love Andy Latimer, Steve Hackett, Dave Gilmour, Bryan Josh, Nick Barrett, Mike Holmes, John Mitchell and, of course, Steve Rothery.
Based on this video, particularly Neverland, the only conclusion one can come to is that every member in this band is a genius. God. What a beautiful performance by all. Perfection.

Steve Rothery's solos are so full of emotion. One of my all time favorite guitarists!!!
What I love best about Rothery solos is that they often creep up on you. Suddenly, you're in the middle of solo and you never saw it coming. Marillion/Rothery doesn't resort to a flashing sign saying ""GUITAR SOLO HERE". Instead they let the instrument continue the journey the song started and then hand the song back to the rest of the band when it is appropriate.

I saw Marillion back in the 80s and 90s. Steve is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. He is very, very good. People say "Who's Steve Rothery?", but try getting a ticket to one of their gigs! 4 decades of genious.

Ive been a fan since 1982, from Canada. The first time I met Rothery, at Pontins, I kissed his hands in gratitude. I would have kissed more had my husband and son not been there. Thank you for posting this awesome collection. Rothery has made my life so much richer for his beauty and genius
Most underrated guitarist ever. Saw Marrillion at Milton Keynes bowl in the mid 80s and the guy is unbelievable.

It takes a lot of feeling to play like Steve R ….. the subtle nuances are all over his performances I’ve seen them on many occasions… they never disappoint

Virtuos ja, einer der Besten auch, einzigartig nein. Schon allein wegen Gilmour. Aber es gibt noch andere, deren Solos Du 'zig mal hintereinander hören kannst und und nicht genug kriegst. Manchmal wirklich feuchte Augen kriege ich bei Piotr Grudzinskis finalem Solo von Second Live Syndrome. (Für den Fall, dass es wirklich Prog-Fans geben sollte, die Riverside nicht kennen: jetzt aber bitte nicht gleich nach hinten skippen, sondern das ganze Meisterwerk hören! Die 12 Minuten vorher muss man sich nehmen.
@@tomschmidt4355 hab mir das mal angehört... naja, meiner Meinung keinesfalls besser als Marillion / Rothery. Anders, ja, aber nicht mit diesem Rothery'schen Feeling. Ok, Musik ist ja immer auch Geschmackssache. Es soll sogar Leute geben, die Jazz hören.... 😄

@@Juno58 So ein bisschen Soft-Jazz live Freitag abends in einer Cocktail-Bar, ok. Aber wenn ich Hardcore-Jazz seh und höre, so ein paar geistesabwesende Typen die scheinbar unabhängig voneinander irgendwelche Zufallstonfolgen erzeugen, da steig ich ganz schnell aus.

Neverland, Sounds that Can't Be Made, and Sky above the Rain - all proof more than any that Marillion hasn't changed a bit: the same vocal/guitar double-melody that goes all the way back to Grendel and Script has never left them.

totall agree, this band should be playing infront of 50,000 to 60,000 fans, not a few thousand in europe, would luv to see them at wembley, what a fantastic concert that would be
