- Like so many, we were saddened to hear of Dame Vera Lynn's passing. She was an inspiration and morale boost to so many when most needed - through the universal language of music. Sam did a great job, but lets not forget Vera Lynn going to Burma, the troops stop firing at the enemy, listened to her sing the turned and carried on fighting the enemy.

Back in late 1980s I had spent some time at the Royal Canadian Legion in Edmonton Alberta. Not only for the preferential price of the beer on tap but for the opportunity to talk to the Veterans of the Juno Beach and the Liberation of Europe .. so many of them were still among us.. this song was played quite frequently at the Hall ...

I can imagine many young men her age dreaming of dating this Sam! (And I can imagine them getting some strange looks when they say "Boy I'd love to date that Marine named Sam!" and they didn't know who that was! Then imagine their faces when they see THIS Sam!)
