I love the Richard Lester-directed 70s versions. The best one so far. But I've also always felt that one had a distinctly British flavor in terms of its humor and presentation. Finally someone has made a big-budget version in French. Fingers crossed.
Having cast members who actually understood historical fencing really helped. But, yes, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment that those are the best Musketeer films to date.

@@NoFace78-g7n If I have any problem with the trailer it's that we don't get to see enough of the action. High hopes.
@@jackanaples I definitely saw Queen Margot in this trailer. Noticed it straight away with its emphasis on intrigues during the wars of religion. Can see Cyrano too, particularly Cassel’s look.
Movie night: I promise you, invite everyone over and watch the three musketeers (93)…..it is ridiculously horrible, and ended the horrible directing & writing of that era
Milady is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time and while it's not ideal that the physical description doesn't match the books (in the books, she's around 22 years old, so really young, blonde with blue eyes and very beautiful), one thing that I do like in the trailer is that it might match how I see her character: she's a spy doing her duty to her country. In the books, while the author describes her as devious and cruel, if you look at some of the things the musketeers do: they're traitors. They keep protecting the Queen who's flirting with Buckingham (so cheating on the King) who's an enemy, the same Queen who is found to have a letter asking her relatives to invade France. The same musketeers are delivering messages warning Buckingham, about French plans. Meanwhile Milady goes on a mission to assassinate Buckingham, an event which leads to French victory at the Siege of La Rochelle (a real life event and battle), saving a lot of lives as the city surrenders, as no English relief force would come for La Rochelle (Buckingham would have led those troops). So just using her singing and looks, she manages to win a battle while locked up in prison. I call that competence. She's ruthless, but she is loyal, while the musketeers kill her side by side with Lord de Winter, her brother in law, who's English... even more treason, they're killing an intelligence officer of their own country.

Sadly the problem in the UK (and in the most countries) is the "hollywoodian" cultural monopoly on this industry, the european cinema is over now that said not in France for some reasons.
I very much enjoyed this, a pleasant surprise, and very different to previous versions. I particularly liked the way the writers placed the religious conflicts of mid-17th century France at the heart of the story.

@@okami36 me too. George MacDonald Fraser's script was amazing
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHAAAAAAAHAAA YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! I have been waiting SO LONG for someone to make a version of this movie like this! YES YES YES YES YES
😄😄👍
Check out the first trailer for THE THREE MUSKETEERS: D'ARTAGNAN starring François Civil, Eva Green and Vincent Cassel!
I can't wait for this film to come out, just look at the talent.
If the action contains less editing, this will be a great remake.
@@NoFace78-g7n If I have any problem with the trailer it's that we don't get to see enough of the action. From an article published some months ago though, the director said the three movies he watched for inspiration on this project were CYRANO (1990), QUEEN MARGOT (1994), and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981). High hopes.
@@jackanaples I definitely saw Queen Margot in this trailer. Noticed it straight away with its emphasis on intrigues during the wars of religion. Can see Cyrano too, particularly Cassel’s look.
Go to be better than The man with the iron mask , can be possible
Movie night: I promise you, invite everyone over and watch the three musketeers (93)…..it is ridiculously horrible, and ended the horrible directing & writing of that era
I like that they split it into 2 parts.
No trailer needed, had me at Eva Green. This will be good.
Fuh Fhonce
Looks more grounded than some of the previous incarnations, i'm into it.
prolly one of the best movie i've ever watch. sword fights, thrill, drama. can't wait for the part 2
Wow Michael Boyarskiy in this movie 💪
Who is Michael Boyarskiy ?
@@buggsbunny75 russian-jewish actor, who have played d'Artagnan in Soviet movie The three musketeers
high five!
I can't find him listed as being in this?
@@classicmovietrailers2892 well, that was just a joke ))) thing is, Monsieur Cassel, on this preview, looks perfectly like Michael Boyarskiy as d'Artagnan in the Soviet Russian adaptation of Dumas
😄😄👍
Finally, a three musketeers movie in French.
The Three Musketeers is one of the stories of the ages. Looking forward to this.
huge respect to the Sir Alexzender duma & Three musketeers..from India, i am huge fan of yours.🙏🙏
Finally!!! I’ve been wanting a French speaking musketeers movie for a while.
Terrific film, definitely worth watching! Looking forward to the second part!
I am so beyond excited for this. There has been some good version of this story. Personally, I really like the BBC's television version. But to see this fillmed with French Actors, filmed in French, and sticking to the original book, Nothing can compare to this.
Love the BBC Three Musketeers I wanted more Series of that one, but it finished at season 3
@@michaeljago5824 I loved the show as well. I think that they did a fantastic job with it. Though, I was a little annoyed that they had English actors play French soldiers and didn't have anyone speak French.
There isa already some movies filmed with French Actors, filmed in French, and sticking to the original book. Also D'artagnan should be 16 if they are sticking to the original book
It does not really stick to the books. For example, Milady in the books is very young (early 20ties), not in her 30ties nor 40ties.
This looks really great! I can’t wait to see this, I’m happy there are authentic French people playing historical characters this time. It’s about time. This makes it feel more real. Yess!
Shouldn't D'artagnan be 16 for this to be 'authentic'?
Movie of the year
Best two films I have seen in my life!❤
Oh hell yes! Hopefully we can finally see this story the way it was meant to be told.
Formidable!
The movie was awesome. Shame it was only for a week in the UK cinemas.
Looking forward to both the Blu-Ray and the second part.
Will read the novel again.
Sadly the problem in the UK (and in the most countries) is the "hollywoodian" cultural monopoly on this industry, the european cinema is over now that said not in France for some reasons.
Honestly one of the coolest movies of 2023 BY FAR
I very much enjoyed this, a pleasant surprise, and very different to previous versions. I particularly liked the way the writers placed the religious conflicts of mid-17th century France at the heart of the story.
could be one of the greatest interpretations so far. looks amazing (but i would twitch the gradient a little to make it more scrisp)
1st reaction: ANOTHER remake of The Three Musketeers?
2nd reaction: This French version looks phenomenal!
3rd reaction: Two movies? Really?
So good, the serious darkness to the film, so much better than the 93' version which was more humour. This wins. Ideally a new make of The Count of Monte Cristo with the darkness that this involved would be amazing..Maybe a 2 or 3 part movie!!
Comte de Monte Cristo is already annonced for 2024 with Pierre Niney as leading actor. I’ m so looking forward to that.
It's Realistic take.. looks Awesome
Finally! A Three Musketeers mobile with actual French actors with French dialogue. And it looks down-to-earth and historically accurate as well instead of super CGI. Let's see how this one goes.
