"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.

Just a suggestion, in private, I think you and your friends could help give some survival advice to the guy that owns the abandoned ghost town of Cerro Gordo, he runs a RUclips channel and I think some of these makeshift builds you and your friends make and that, you've got years of experience compared to him and I think it might be useful to him to get some friendly advice and help ☺️ I watch you both so 🤷♂️ it only just crossed my mind, that's all, just thought if he had some people he could text or call every now and again when he's trying to figure out a problem he's facing might be helpful that's all ☺️

Make a box to hold the rim up and then put the tank inside. All in one unit.
That's a good idea. I was thinking a longer tube and keep the fuel away from the fire.

Tempered glass is fortunately not very sharp overall. But it shatters like nothing else.
That isnt a sauna ... that is the heated naked air bath room. Treat yourself!

No air mixer valve ? All I get when I try to use my propane camp stove as a fire pit it small blue flame. Hm.

Does your brother live in North Bay I was born there and I still have lots of family there lots of nephews and nieces and there kids and so on only one sister lives the the other six live to the south west Ontario
For privacy reasons we don't really mention where we live.
The only thing I would be concerned about it the glass peices getting so hot they pop like popcorn and shatter into your face 😳

I was once told "everything costs, if it doesnt cost money it costs time, if it doesnt cost time it costs money" and here we are this cost you both time and money lol less time than money only because you now have to buy propane. Wood stoves cost also but they cost more time than money. Cutting wood will always heat you up twice lol.
That is very true but when it is very cold, instant heat will always work till the fire is going good to put off some heat.

All those materials can be obtained for free. The tempered car glass instead of expensive fire glass... genius. I wish I thought of that. Love it. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
Did you do anything to get the flame to reach up high? Did you modify the burner?
No, that's a stock burner from a Natural Gas hot water tank.

I would be afraid that some of the glass pieces could "explode" under the heat and someone will end with a shrapnel in his/her eye :-( Or am I completely wrong with this and that couldn't happen?
Tempered glass is usually a high grade soda-lime glass and so is more susceptible to thermal fluctuations. Such glass also has a practical upper service temperature of about 200 C or maybe a little more. Common window and door glass that is tempered by salt bath treatment uses ion exchange to compress the outer surface. Before this method, tempering was done with heat where the glass is softened at a high temperature after it is formed into a sheet and then blasted with cold gas to chill the outside more than the inside. Such tempering can be done to more types of glass than the salt bath method which is most common. Pyrex tempered glass would not break as easily in a temperature change.
(Found that answer on line from a NASA materials scientist)
based on my research tempered will not explode from heating.
