Humilau is based off of Long Island where I was born and raised and lived my entire life before the move to maine in a few years back Anyway my best guess is that since the battle subway is based off of the actual subway system used in the city and this is the one subway with a definitive destination it looks to be based off of Hoboken New Jersey. It has several of the subway lines leading to it but only one with that being the only end point on one linear line straight from the city. So the reason it is so forgettable is because it's Jersey :p (my native New Yorker side needs to poke fun at Jersey)
How to change the forgettable to memorable Altering Cave: multiple entrances, during different times of day or seasons, the tide changes allowing more or less of the cave to be explored. Artisan Cave: Have people talk about it on the island. Just NPCs who like it or speak of it. Scorched Slab: have it be a magma room, with you running into rare fire types Sinjoh Ruins: collect all the Unown and have access to Arceus there. Challenger's cave: Have it filled with old Champions
BW Peterson I went there as a child cuz I was confused at where to go, so I went everywhere and then realized after 2 fracking years how obvious it was. I then beat the game the same day
It's funny that even the creator of this video forgot about Tanoby Key, that's how forgettable it was. At least Altering Cave is memorable for how pointless & disappointing it is. I remember actually forgetting I had to go to Tanoby Key to get the Unowns to appear in 1 playthrough of FRLG because of how forgettable a place it is.
The Arcues cutscene is him creating the universe backwards (sort of), due to the Egg showing up at the end and hatching. Also, that music is Arceus’s battle theme. 13:56
These „empty places“ did give the games some good flair though. Even though they are forgettable and might not be that great when you’re an adult, as a kid I was theorising about what crazy things you could do be able to do in these „empty“ parts of the game, that simply hadn’t been found out yet.
Yea that was the best was spending a week figuring out its purpose and learning there is none. Unless its an event spot which i could never go to growing up in rura America
I remember going into the scorched slab for the first time in Ruby/Sapphire. I'd already played ORAS, and was super stoked to find out what they did with this place before heatrean. at first I thought it wouldn't be there, but I looked anyway. Imagine my shock when I saw that it WAS there; imagine my disappointment when I realised it might as well have not have been.

Me too! I started out technically in late gen 4, but my first game that i played on my own was white. I knew about Anville town but i agree with michael that it is so forgettable.
Artisan Cave is where you can "build" your Smeargle. For example: use Spore on one, it'll use Sketch and learn Spore, then you catch it. Level it up, so it can Sketch another move, teach another wild Smeargle a new move you want, enter with the Spore Smeargle, Sketch the new move, and do it on and on.

Anville town’s train gimmick reminds me that Pokémon was created by an autistic man whose special interest is bug fighting. He made it because he loved it so much, he wanted to share the joy of fighting creatures with others. It’s so special to me as another autistic person. Pokémon is awesome. Not enough trains. ❤
I honestly think that they should have a cutscene so that when you catch all of the Unown, they open a portal and Arceus arrives from it. You can choose to create any one pokemon that you want or to battle and catch Arceus.
This is actually a pretty good idea for an event. It does seem like it could be a little OP for those that reset their games for shinies and/or IVs, but otherwise would be good in general.
@@jjquinn295 For one thing, it’s a legitimate way to get Arceus. How many of those ways were there again? Another thing is that if you decide to ask him to create a Pokémon and save before catching the final unknown, you could get that one Pokémon you’re missing for a competitive battling team you’d been trying to put together but don’t want to bother going back into that annoying cave to grind for a perfect one. If you’re going to pick the same Pokémon every time it’d just be easier that way. The only problem would be what level you get the Pokémon at. We could say this is a post-league event and you get it at level 50 or level 80. Or it could be during the game at any time and they be level 1. Regardless, it’s still pretty OP to get that one Pokémon you’re missing or a LEGIT Arceus. Come on. I don’t want to go back to Victory Road for a Pokémon that has a 5% encounter rate thank you very much.
@@araelsongheart6918 It would be a choice that you make, much like you have to choose what Calarex type you want in sword and shield. If you wanted to grind the unknown event to get a few different mons transfer them over and reset you could. Trading the opportunity for an Arcus for say a legit mew, isn't over powered it is just a way that you could get the many different event pokemon by grinding rather than having the luck to be playing at the right time.
I have 2 Kalos locations for you! The Chamber Of Emptiness require Surf and scaling a waterfall to access, has no Pokemon, and only the Spooky Plate and Bannettite are found. The Bannettite, I should add, can only be found between 8:00 and 8:59 PM with an upgraded Mega Ring. Second is the Sea Spirit's Den. It's located in Azure Bay and has nothing to offer until you encounter the roaming Legendary Birds 11 times!

I never understood the significance of AZ's Floette but then again I skipped X and Y being the only games I skipped. Only reason I'm happy though it hasn't been released is that I've heard it can break lore as well as I personally don't think they should make many events on mid-stage Pokemon or Characters that are only relevant for a little bit having event Pokemon.
Eternal Flower Floette was always supposed to be the True Ultimate Form of Floette, it's kind of like those Special Pikachu, Eevee, & Meowths that are incapable of evolution. I still want that Legendary Stat Floette with Light of Ruin that was never released.
They should make the Sinjoh Ruins event accessible in Gen 2 remakes if you have save data from Legends Arceus. I didn't realize at the time how incredibly lucky I was to have gotten the Toys R Us Arceus to see the cutscene.
Out of all of these locations, I remember Anville Town the most. I get that it could be obscure and missable to some but I did know about it (and find it interesting on its design). Altering Cave and Dotted Cave are odd, to say the least. That Arceus cut scene was rather impressive of Game Freak. I say that another forgettable location is Chamber of Emptiness in Kalos where you can only find Banettite and Spooky Plate and no much else (though I guess it lives up to its name). I've actually forgot about Challengers Cave lol XD
I think it's cool how they have locations like Altering Cave. It adds a layer of realism to the game, rather than having cliches like faraway caves that always have some kind of rare treasure in them.
that Sinjoh cut scene literally gives me chills, it doesn't feels like pokemon, feels like a really overwhelming force it pressing on your body. AS if the hands of God was hovering over you.
Interesting things for me personally: - I remembered Altering Cave surprisingly well! When those games were running around, it was still mostly a time of rumor mills, both on the infancy of the internet forums and on the school yard. For my time with Emerald, Altering Cave was the Mew Truck of my time. I also revisited it during a randomized Emerald game to see what was in there. - Artisan Cave is another spot I remembered fondly! Ever since the Pichu Brothers movie short, I LOVED Smeargle. When I found where to get them, I went right for it. I also just have a habit of trying to find weird ways out of places, and I stumbled upon it the first time by accident and returned to it any time I played a new file. - Scorched Slab. Place I remember well, but never knew even had a name. Wow. - Sinjoh Ruins. Wow. Whack. If only. - Never played the first Black/White games. Only played Black 2, and definitely completely forgot about that collapsed cave! - Anville Town was totally weird and obscure definitely. I went there a few times just trying to figure what the heck to do, and then later forgot how to get there.
I love how when you mentioned about missing an entire town in gen 5 I knew exactly which town it was gonna be XDDD I just loved the battle subway and finding all of gen 5's secrets/details.
The Sinjoh ruins are given a large role in the HeartGold SoulSilver manga, as Archer captured Arcues and planned to use it to summon and control Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.

I will say, there was kind of a charm of the weird mysterious locations in the gen 3 games. There was no indication if they were merely a red herring, or real, and some of them were very real. I had a lot of fun when I first figured this out in my ruby run.
14:50 I REMEMBER THAT CAVE! I remember trying to get through it. Since it was a long time ago, I don’t know if I ever did, but I do remember scisor spawning in the grass around the cave.
I remember back in college that a friend found a case in an airport that contained a bunch of Japanese DS games. Since he had no DS at the time, he shared it with our Circle (club) to those who had a DS and knowing he could maybe never return the games to it's rightful owner, he just offered it to us instead. Though I had very little interest in taking the games (I figured I wouldn't understand the games and manually translating them would be a pain in the ass) I just looked at the list of games in the case. Of course I was a bit interested in the Japanese Pokemon Platinum Cart so I wanted to check out what stuff were in there. Not hoping for much, I looked at the party Pokemon and saw it. A Japanese Movie Arceus at the front of the party. I instantly knew I struck gold. I had to explain my excitement on why this Arceus is so rare. Even though my circle was a bunch of nerds, only few of the members were so deep into Pokemon. Hoping to find more, I went to the PC and found regular stuff, but in box 12 there was Japanese Shiny Entei, Suicune, and Raikou from the Zoroark movie which would trigger the Zoroark event in Black and White. At this time Black and White were still only available in Japan, so I explained to my friends again why these three are important. After an hour or so of transfering Pokemon to my Heart Gold from the Japanese Platinum. I cleaned it out if rare Pokemon and items. It also had a Master Ball in it. I still have that Japanese Platinum to this day. Just resting in my Pokemon Diamon case. It was one of the most nerdiest finds of a gold mine ever. Seeing the Sinjoh Ruins cutscene on my DS was one of the most happiest (and creepiest) Pokemon moments I ever had.
Anville town is one of my favorite Pokemon towns because it's so calm and when I go there I can forget about my worries and pretend I live there while my parents yell at eachother in the other room

Man, I remember Altering Cave disappointed me when I first found it . At first i believed that it was where you would find the Legendary Beasts in game since there was three chambers and giant footprints and what not ( I didn't find out about catching them much later), but nope. It didn't really help either that it was brought back in Emerald, which only raised my questions even more.

Anyway my best guess is that since the battle subway is based off of the actual subway system used in the city and this is the one subway with a definitive destination it looks to be based off of Hoboken New Jersey. It has several of the subway lines leading to it but only one with that being the only end point on one linear line straight from the city.
So the reason it is so forgettable is because it's Jersey :p (my native New Yorker side needs to poke fun at Jersey)

How to change the forgettable to memorable
Altering Cave: multiple entrances, during different times of day or seasons, the tide changes allowing more or less of the cave to be explored.
Artisan Cave: Have people talk about it on the island. Just NPCs who like it or speak of it.
Scorched Slab: have it be a magma room, with you running into rare fire types
Sinjoh Ruins: collect all the Unown and have access to Arceus there.
Challenger's cave: Have it filled with old Champions

Me wan jirachi also good idea tho is sounds like a real event lol imma tell my lil sis its real
This is actually a pretty good idea for an event. It does seem like it could be a little OP for those that reset their games for shinies and/or IVs, but otherwise would be good in general.
@@araelsongheart6918 How would it be OP? Grinding for every unknown takes longer than breeding 1 prefect Pokémon.

I never understood the significance of AZ's Floette but then again I skipped X and Y being the only games I skipped. Interesting things for me personally:
- I remembered Altering Cave surprisingly well!

0:54 When I was younger, I spent HOURS trying to get to some of the towns Ash visited in the anime ingame
