- Main Street in downtown LeClaire is called Cody Road. Fitting, because this is the birthplace of showman Buffalo Bill Cody!
@LeClaire, IA is a storied river town, a classic Mississippi River port that boomed in the mid-19th century. LeClaire is about 15 miles northeast of the Quad Cities, and is so close that it’s considered by some to be a suburb of the Quad Cities.

Main Street is alive and well. It’s where the heart of the community beats the loudest.
It’s also where you will find five-time Emmy award-winning actor and host John McGivern. Enjoyed by a nationwide audience, John’s unique brand of storytelling is expanding across the Midwest.
Growing up in the Midwest in an Irish Catholic family, John’s own experiences and memories are relatable and remind us all of our shared Midwest heritage. Through lively interviews with local residents and civic leaders, John uncovers the uniqueness and charm of each community he visits.

I live in Bettendorf. Born and raised here in this area. LeClaire has fun festivals from time to time.
What I have come to expect of John, a very good show. Good stuff. Thanks John and crew.🙂
A couple of fun facts are that there’s also a local fair called the Mississippi valley fair that is everyday for the whole first week of August, it’s quite popular for teenagers and has concerts every night. Also, the Faithful pilot owner is the uncle of my sister’s boyfriend!
We’ve just returned from a whole month in Iowa, two weeks of which were spent in Le Claire (Grasshopper Too). We love the place and will be back for sure! Loved the programme too, even if it did make us want to be back there right now! 😊
I use to live here I loved it
Leclair iowa the place where you should set the cruise control on 25 mph.
Or you will be ticketed
FYI, William Cody WAS NOT born in LeClaire! He was born in Scott Co in a log cabin in Harold Ehrke's field! Issac Cody moved his family to LeClaire for about 1 1/2 years, renting a house from Laurel Summers while he built his home in Long Grove area. As a matter of fact, he never lived in LeClaire. Laurel Summers rental house was in a town called Parkhurst at the time. It's important to get history correct. This house was sold to the railroad & they moved it to Cody, WY to draw tourists.
Make sure to let them know about the Traffic cams there that extorts money from their citizens.
This is Leclair not davenport.😂
