Me encanta.
I made myself this jig and its working like a charm...I kinda forgot to thank you for the idea and as they say, better late than never....Thank you very much
Saludos...!!!
that looks like its so much better than the $10 sharpening jigs, I always put too much pressure on one side or the other every time I sharpen no matter how had I try to correct it
All the best like allways! You are numero uno in woodworking and video production my friend. Best quality and everything. Keep the good work and all the best from croatia. Hari.
yes, actually if you know or if you come up with something to sharpen knives i think it would be awesome to watch it on video, because i think you are the right person to make it!
thanks for sharing, I made 2 already, and they work soo good.. I'm on a roll here, in one month I made this jig, a 4 jaw lathe chuck, a lathe, 4 lathe chisels, a drill press vise, 4 bar clamps and other small things... isn't RUclips awesome? thanks again...next I hope to make a band saw or Alaskan mill/band saw..
I'll send more later.. i have 25+ years doing antiques restoration, cabinet maker and general finish work, so all this experience helps on doing all this awesome projects..
As the bevel forms though doesn't the angle change because of the the lack of contact in the front, and more importantly, lack of a 3rd point of contact?
Thanking you very much to show us how to make the sharpening Jig , I like it since it has the ball bearing as a wheel.I want to know the size and the specifications.
The biggest problem when using a honing guide is to ensure the flat side of the chisel is flat in the guide and the blade is square in the jig. Your jig does not help to do that very well. Chisels 1/4" and less need a harder surface to reference off that is provided by ply wood. Obviously a work in progress. All the best.
I built this. I don't recommend it. The pivot point where the two pieces meet, don't hold. No matter how tight you tighten the nut it still flexes. Not good in the middle of a sharpening.
remember not to apply too much pressure in the center of the jig when using it, you should only apply pressure on the blade. If the problem persists, you can stick a few pieces of sandpaper in the pivot point to get more firmness. Send me some photos please, I would like to see your design!
This is a really brilliant design and the visual or camera work is also very good, and now , here it comes , wait for it! LOSE THE MUSIC. It is a DISTRACTION , NOT a useful addition to your otherwise excellent video.
all i've got in my so called workshop is a hammer, all very well when you have a workshop with every gismo on the planet, then you can make these jigs, but please show the not so well off people, how to make a jig with basic tools........
Chisel Sharpening Jig Plans: bit.ly/3fELutP
I made a similar jig but used a roller where you have the alloy rest.

Thats exactly my case, all of my chisels are worn down.
What thickness of plywood Do you use?
Thanks for sharing!
E' tutto molto bello, preciso e funzionale. Vorrei costruirlo uguale. Però mancano le misure. E' possibile averle? Grazie.
Genial!!!

Can you make some kind of jig for scissors?
Can you do a shop tour?
It is a good idea! thanks

Hi, how would a knife sharpening jig look for sharpening on whetstones.
È possibile avere le misure??
Grazie
do you still have the plan? I want to rebuild the part. It's the best you can find on RUclips. Thanks. Ralf / Germany / BaWü / Rheinhausen
thanks Ralf! chek this out: www.paoson.com/en/23-homemade-sharpening-jig-plans
what a deal ! only 3,00 € 🤑
friend if I don't have an aluminum bar I can use wood or the same plywood
yes. you can use hard wood
esta bueno.. q medida tiene
gracias, mira aquí:
www.paoson.com
Gracias
Nope you lost me at the sandpaper in the bearing. That will allow for slop in the angle
Very good video. Will build such a jig. But your monotonous music is freaking and destroys the good experience of your video.
