I and one other Imperial Royal Guard managed to exit the base to the nearby landing pad many seconds before diplex ordered his soldiers to throw thermal imploders in our general direction. I must say, the thermal imploders have a pitiful blast radius or at least in Galaxy at War.

Most were tasked at guarding Sidius and other political leaders under the empire as well as guarding the senate buildings and temple on Couriscant
The emperor clearly deliberately sent the worst guardsmen, probably just recruits in red guard uniforms to 'protect' this admiral, knowing the emperor the admiral was a threat to his power and was disposed of as such.
if the emperor found said admiral a threat he could've easily had him executed/imprisoned. sidious never allowed any threats to rise within the high ranking imperials.
Diplex, you should try a battle that's like that event in Battlefront 2. The rebellion of Kamino versus the Empire. But instead of being on Kamino and tons of infantry. Have it like a massive field battle with AT-AT's, AT-ST's and the Clone mechanized as well like the Republic Tank, AT-RT and AT-TE that would be a really cool scenario. You could say that the Kaminoans managed to build their clone army without the Empire noticing and they launched an all out war with the Empire.

I get as far as creating a small map with some units, but they wont move unless ordered and don't seem to take damage at all. What am I doing wrong?

If you have it on steam go to your library and then click play. You should get a list of options. select editor and launch. As for the map creation process I recommend looking up some basic tutorials here on youtube or some guides available on steam. Hope this helps
Great video but there's one inaccuracy. Royal Guards where strictly limited in Palpatine's security and protection only. Royal Stormtroopers, would be much more accurate and logical to have (if there's a mod for them). Nevertheless, great vid.

Royal guards are supposed to be able to go up against the likes of jedi knights and kill masterful assassins and mercenaries, not die instantly. I mean, what the hell was that!? four of them are literally waiting to blast a mere seven or eight rebels to bits, when for whatever reason instead three guards die with no casualties for the rebel alliance!
What is the point of the battle if Diplex is gonna help the team that he wants to win. The imperials would have won if the battle played out with no interference.

They weren't clones. The only reason they were shit is because the AI in this game is terrible.
Yeah stormtroopers in lore are much more competent. The stormtroopers in this mod are more in line with imperial army/navy troopers in terms of skill.

they do actually, "that outfit" is basically the toughest armour in the whole empire, they wear the large red cloaks over top of their armour.
