He was so nice here. Keeping the multiverse together really snapped him.
Well he killed a whole universe, that fucks up anyone
Literally, who could mentally handle the multiverse actually being real? The psychological revelation alone could send you into shock.
I thought he was pretty funny in the movie, just as dead-panned as he is here. His first interactions with Gwen and the reintroduction of Peter B. Parker and Hobie has the same feel.
I mean you see what he had to deal with with just ONE pointing spider-man?
He is so pissed off to do never ending pointing with Earth 67's Spiderman, he becomes buff later in the sequel
What a nice man. He dosent look like the type of person to beat the shit out of a 15 year old kid because he tried to save his dad.
ya gotta think from a different perspective, in his mind it’s either save ONE person, or destroy a ENTIRE universe. high stakes is not worth the risk for miguel. but it is very sad that he took it all out like that on miles. 100% due to his trauma but god damn 😔 bro was ruthless… miles will make it work tho i think
Yeah ... Actually spoiler alert
@@kathras8621 not like theres 50 billion memes out already showing the exact scene of him getting beat.

Coming back to this scene after watching Across the Spiderverse, now I know why Miguel is so angry all the time. He never got over being pointed at.

I think this Spiderman 2099 is the original one, because my theory is this one didn't die by a gun like the other version did, and is not a clone, the clone Miguel became Spiderman and has a darker story, and the 2 spiderman 2099 suits has different logos, it's so obvious, the Spiderman 2099 in the second movie of spiderman 2099 isn't the original 2099, he's a clone

@@GabrielGarcia-mp3rf Apparently, the producers have confirmed it’s the same Miguel. And historically, Spidermen are known to dawn different costumes, it’s not a big deal.
@@GabrielGarcia-mp3rf Based on what the story the trailers imply, Miguel is younger here and between the last movie and the next one he discovered dimensional travel and then became a leader of sorts. So much has changed.
We can see that this is before he became traumatized and obsessed with the whole Canon event stuff. The Miguel in ATSV is heavily traumatized and regretful, basically suffering with too much stress and PTSD, this is why it is misunderstood as seeing him being a "bad guy" when he is just a broken Spider-Man.
Well said!!!

@@EternalRoman in a way, Miguel's very similar to Peter B. Parker as he was also in a very low spot
Given how Miles had changed Peter B. for the better can see that by the end, Miguel will also be redeemed by Miles.
@@kendrick5501 I agree, remember the principle for all Spider-People on the first film, "When you go down, you always get back up". I think they would make Miguel remember this, because he feels overwhelmed with stress, Past guilt, and trauma.
That is why he has gotten to extremes and has been so hard on everything, and on everyone, yet now, I'm afraid that he may sacrifice himself on the 3rd film to rectify himself, because of the burden he carries on his shoulders, but also because he is a Spider-Man and would do like they all always do, sacrifice themselves.
@@EternalRoman I won't lie
I hope they don't go with that route, feels like redemption by sacrificing oneself is pretty predictable
He deserves to live despite how much of a jackass he has become
Speaking of, has it ever occurred to you that Miguel is similar to both Strange (both main MCU & What If's Strange Supreme) & Wanda as well as the Spider-Society sharing similarities with Loki's TVA?
No wonder Miguel sounds tired in the ATSV. He had to deal with this shit with every single Spiderman on every single universe.
Bro he was so nice. The job he’s doing took him to his breaking point
Spidey 2099 getting a ‘67 design is the only instance so far in the spiderverse flicks where a multiversal traveller morphed to the ‘look’ of the universe they’re in
Earth 67 must have extra reality warping properties
MoM technically had 2 instances of that
My headcanon is that the prototype universe transporter morphed MIguel's body to fit the universe he went in so that he wouldn't glitch. Then, the technology got better and he was able to move through universes without changing his body at all.
@Vapause This one is the most likely tbh. Nice insight. 👍
I wonder if you could count Peter Porker, given the look of his original world (especially with all shorts that have released)
Absolutely insane that this is a legitimate story tease that proceeds the events in Across the Spider-verse
Right? I came back to this because I had to watch realizing it was more than just a silly lil joke

You know what's secretly the funniest thing about _Across the Spider-Verse?_
The Earth-67 Spider-Man is part of the Spider-Society.
Which means, after getting into the pettiest argument in the history of animation, Miguel decided to bring this Spider-Man back with him.
Well this "spider-man" Miguel is arguing with is the imposter, the real spider-man was supposed to come down but Miguel came in too early
And even funnier, Miguel accidentally got the gag up to an extreme degree; by not stating WHICH Spider-Man was his problem, all the Spiders pointed accusatory fingers at each other all over the place.
“I can do anything he can!”
“Oh dang, I pulled something!”
So sad to see Miguel so happy and lighthearted here, only to see what happens to him in Across the Spider-Verse.
Though it’s interesting to think that it took only a year for him to get to this point. Running the multiverse spider team must have really took a toll on him
I mean, if we take into account the fact that he thought he had destroyed a universe with his intervention and he also started believing in "canon events that are unchangeable", then, it is kinda understandable
I'm also pretty sure time moves differently when you dimension hop, so even though a year passed for Miles and others, for Miguel, especially when he replaced another version of himself, years could have passed.
Imagine how many innocent people he had to kill to preserve canon events
This movie was how I got I introduced to 3 versions of Spider-Man I never knew existed.
It introduced me to Peni Parker
Try reading their respective comic storylines as well or play Shattered dimensions
Mulitverseal theory, 10000 of you 10000 of me, 10000 batman, superman, wolverine, ironman. The list goes on.
If you didn't know about 2099 and noir before the movie thats kind of sad
For me, it was shattered dimensions.
This is the moment that broke his will to be the good guy
This is when Miguel became Heisenberg
Bravo Vince !!
he's still a good guy
No wonder Miguel is so pissed in Across the Spider-Verse, who knows how long he was arguing with 60s Spider-Man
The way he starts jumping in frustration
This must be when he first started recruiting for his team
He definitely picked a difficult first recruit
Never been the same since then I think he got the point when Spider-Man 67 pointed at him pointing
I think this scene is pretty brilliant. Its common to use a post credits scene to set up one of the future antagonists. But here, they keep the fact he will be one of the new antagonists a secret and make it seem like he is just a new potential spider ally.
he isnt the antagonist...
@@Chris-vj7qk sure. he's not a bad guy, but i think it's fair to call him the main antagonist in the second half of across the spiderverse. Personally i'm hopping that changes in the third.
@@Chris-vj7qkHe is tho. He’s not a villain by any means but opposes Miles and his ideals while acting as an obstacle for his goal
@@uninformed2167 okay then talking definitions spot is the protagonist since he drives the action... and therefore miles is the antagonist... making Miguel the antagonist to the antagonist, but also against the protagonist :D
@@Chris-vj7qk In that example you gave you’re implying that “talking definitions” to be the protagonist you need to drive the action when the protagonist is by definition:
“the leading character or one of the major characters in a play, film, novel, etc”
Driving the action isn’t even a prerequisite to being the protagonist.Miles could’ve just watched and reacted to stuff that happens but he’d still be a protagonist, just a passive one.
Meanwhile an antagonist is by definition:”a person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary.”
So even if we went by your logic that “talking definitions spot is the protagonist since he drives the action”Miguel would still be an antagonist to miles despite also opposing spot which is something you bring up as if having 2 antagonists that also oppose each other is incredibly dumb and almost unthinkable
Like there was deadass no need to double down so hard while taking definitions from a fixed angle to support your statement
I like that Miguel is almost a completely different person here because you can really see how losing his family twice changed him. I might be getting my timeline mixed up, but if this Miguel and Peter B. ever teamed up, they must have had a blast.
