My gut feeling is that unbolted roller was sucked inward, and you can't retrieve it ? Great idea in theory to gently raise slideout to gain access to rollers and adjust each roller. My 05 dynaquest instead has fixed long hard rubber bridge that SO travels on and it has slipped off its support bridge as couple screws broke loose.
My father bought a 2001 beaver patriot brandywine because of the love you have for your beaver. All of your videos have helped him immensely. I also have learned a lot from the videos you have done. Thank you!
Just because something is the best in class doesn't mean it can't have flaws or break. I've seen enough of your videos to trust your opinions on this stuff.
Not be ashamed of the work that you're doing I think it's a great thing to show us the people what takes place when you do this type of work we appreciate your professional work 🖖🏼😊🇺🇸🇵🇷
I hope that roller didn’t flip and destroy your FRP bottom. 😱🤞 I had to replace that wiper seal on the bottom of my front slide on my 2001 Marquis last year. The biggest mistake I found this year is that Beaver seamed the FRP panels right where one of the rollers sits. It ate up the bottom of the slide this summer when the adhesive failed. I ended up using fiberglass filler with the short strands in it to repair that area. So far so good. I guess never a dull moment in RV ownership.
This makes me feel a lot better about using pebble FRP when I rebuild my bunk slide floors. I recently upgraded the rollers under my oversized POS schwintek slide. I added some extra ones. You're right most people dont understand those rollers basically carry all the force, they are the fulcrum and the slide out is like a lever that moves in and out over that fulcrum point. I've never seen anything like that adjustable roller, awesome! Sure beats ordering several different heights or screwing with shim stacks.
Wow- I would've been tempted to jack it up and attach an approprite length and width of AL sheet to the FRP which the roller rests upon. The adjustable roller is nice, but I'm betting when you raised it 5/8" that the inside edge dug in to the floor inside. Anxiously awaiting the "continued" part. Thanks for sharing- sorry to hear it got more complicated.
That roller has made an indention into the plywood where it has been parked while driving and sitting. I'm sure you've figured that out. Mine has done that also. It's a 2003 Kountry star pusher that I ordered new in 2003 and have managed to never put it in the shop since day one. Its been a challenge but I'm sick that way. Most RV techs I've ran across are not as skilled or don't have the correct background to make repairs as good or careful as me it seems. Plus I don't like leaving my rig at a shop for weeks or months. You are the coolest RV tech with the best content by far. My kind of guy! Today I'm gonna replace some or all of the plywood floor under my bed slide out thanks to all your content. I may have to repair with a joint since mine has little cabinets on each side of the bed that complicate things. However there's lots of room under the bed to reinforce the joint IF thats the only way. My window seal was leaking at the top and sides but I never knew it. Thanks a million for sharing so much of your work. DS
Excellent point on taking deflating the Airbags before starting the process. Always thinking ahead. I would have been scared the roller would have moved without screwing it down. Looking forward to part duo.
Hi James. I love watching every single video that you produce. Always so informative. I’m very grateful that you take the extra time and effort to film these to share. It’s hard to film with one hand, takes more time to conduct the task and the time to edit and upload, etc. It’s very kind and generous of you to do that for your viewers. Again, very thankful! 👍
James, this is an excellent video. Showing how things don’t always work as planned is real life. I always wondered about roller replacement without removing the slide. I’m looking forward to part two of the video. Thank you.
Hey James. Thanks for sharing the great videos . Because of your videos I changed the plastic coolant tank to the metal one on our 2003 DP motorhome. . Wow was it bad . We were on borrowed time . Thank you for pointing it out in a previous video . Please keep up with the videos . 👍👍👍
Damn you man! My wife and I are officially hooked on your videos. Awesome work and look forward to more. We just have to catch up on your past clips...
Can't wait to see the continuation / conclusion video on this repair... Appreciate when you show us when things go right, and when they go wrong... But to have to wait for it...😅
The flush floor slideout on our '05 Monaco Knight hangs up at the upper left corner. I have to rock the right hand side to pop it loose. I took the wood trim off and find that the metal flange at the top drops into a pocket in the wall from the right side to about 1/2 way across, then pops out and becomes too high. I thought the roof of the slideout was bowed, but now I'll see if I can remove shim from the roller. Thank you for your great vids!
Wow I just learned how handy an oscillating saw can be. You videos are so full of helpful tips! I would have done it with a hacksaw blade and vice grips. Now I need to buy a new Milwaukee tool because every time I work on my Jeep Grand Cherokee there is a tab with a screw that can't be accessed and the smart money says just cut it off.
Replaced three rollers on my 2000 Damon Escaper 3980 by installing a 4X4 on the outside top of slide out, then I brought the sideout back in against the motorhome top rail, raising the floor enough to remove and replace the bad rollers. It was a piece of cake to accomplish.
Hey! I didn't know about thoes adjustable rollers! Good to know! and good to know I have 4 Four (8) across the main slide.. How do you get to the middle two?
It’ll be interesting to see how you screw that roller down. I was wondering how I’d deal with it, and the only thing I could come up with was cutting a piece of steel plate and bending a 90 to attach to the edge of the floor.
Glad that you are doing this I e mailed you about the 2000 Beaver marquis need to do the same thing to the slide out Plus Iam trying to figure out the solar on the roof is not working
James I’m not surprised that there are issues with that slide being it’s 22 years old. Doesn’t seem like it was a very well designed system to start with. Maybe a worm gear would have been a better idea.
The bracket which secured the slide out roller was never secured to the floor on our 2018 Holiday Rambler Vacationer. The bracket turned and chewed up the floor.
What you can’t see what’s going on behind the FRP I have the same situation I attach some stainless steel to the FRP so that the rollers rolled on the stainless steel Remember you had all the wood fibres by the cabinet doors? Stainless is very hard wood Is soft that floor is OSB or plywood under the FRP Stainless there for three years with no issues
My dinette/couch slide -- something like 16'? -- works pretty hard to come back in while it's doing that initial lift. It's a pair of electric motors. I assume that's pretty normal?
Is there only two rollers beneath that slide out ? I tought that you would have more than one to change ? Now I need to go see under mine how it is :)... Have a nice day !
Wait - I just got through replacing the lower slide seal on my 01 contessa. The slide room is 14' long. How did you get the rivets out of the center area? I had to remove the center bay and it was not much fun. You must be a contortionist if you can reach the center rivets.
Looking to buy a 2011 Damon Tuscany in the next few days, can you tell me any issues you are aware of that I should look at closely. Is there any things you can help me with when I go inspect it? I have had five Rv’s and know enough to be dangerous. LOL
James by chance do you have a video on Winnebago slide seals?. I have a 2000 Itasica horizon i want to replace the slide out seals ans i can't find a video.
I'm surprised you had time to work on your own unit. Usually, a mechanic has the worst running car lol. But, when you do work on your own, you're always going to take the extra time and use the best quality parts on it. Everythng breaks eventually no matter how well its built.
Yes but a lot of the things that you're doing are upgrades which are great things to have done to save you problems in the future now you'll fix it and it'll probably Outlast the whole coach
Couldn't you just secure a strip(s) of steel to the bottom of the slide? It seems like that would raise it and protect the scarred surface of the slide.
what I don't see is how you are going to screw down the new roller???? none of my angle drills or drivers will fit in that space???? so, I'm breathlessly waiting to see "your magic"!!!! I have a 2001 newmar DSDP 3852. big slide has fixed rollers on the inside bottom of the slide. the compression axle makes them simple to remove but the brackets are wearing out. I have found that best maintenance is to pull the roller, squirt light machine oil into the roller bearings, and blow it out with compressed air forcing new oil in and dirt out. Then wipe down with carb cleaner to remove any oil because they roll in on the carpet....this process seems to be keeping them in new condition. The problem is the holes that the axles fit into on the bracket, some have become a little loose.... but everything still lines up outside. With the rollers on the carpet they leave imprints when "in". but the carpet sort of "locks the rollers in place" to prevent the slides from moving out when in motion. the carpet and 1/2" carpet pad also act as insulation for heating and HVAC. yes, i have tile in the kitchen and yes, I know about the slide arm adjustment for up and down/side to side..... I had to rebuild the box on the rear slide where the rollers are mounted on the floor/box. Sadly, Newmar chose to make their slide floors from two 1/2" ply stapled together with no glue. I've screwed them together but they still flex and warp... grrr.....
Put him in really great if you had an app on your phone to operate your slide outs and all the things on your on your on your coach but being 20 years old LOL lol
It should of it would have and it could have...... The older I get and every job I go in to fix. I just know the suck factor goes way up..... I don't like Lord. Why do these jobs keep getting harder and harder?... God tells me my skill factor keeps going up and I keep biting off more and what I can chow... In the end, it's done way better than the factory. But boy did it suck and I hated every minute of it............ NOTHING LIKE FIXING THINGS WITH MONEY.....

I can't wait to see how you secure that roller to the floor.🧐
It is easy to anchor the roller
3m 5200 😀
Can't wait to see how you get those screws back in because there is sooooo much room.
My father bought a 2001 beaver patriot brandywine because of the love you have for your beaver. All of your videos have helped him immensely. I also have learned a lot from the videos you have done. Thank you!

dang james . hope ya get it fixed up
A true professional knows how to fix his mistakes properly and I have no doubt that you got this covered.

I appreciate that!
I have a 2002 Marquis. You got me watching. We will STAY TUNED
I watch 100% of your videos as I like to learn new things and they are always very detailed and interesting !

Roller not secure, roller moved 😱, oh ugh. (You hinted with the laughing emoji. ) 🍻
Anxiously waiting part two.

Thank you James .i always love the in depth repair vids...
Glad you like them!

Oh, if you're ever in Delaware you got free drinks, without rv questions 😊
thank you so much!! :)
Bro!! Don’t leave us hanging!!!
No matter what your still the man and we all know you will get r done and done right.
You make everything look so easy but yet still a hard problems. Can’t thank you enough for your thorough detail.
The suspense is killing me!!
Don't feel bad - you're just learning how to do it so that the one on my 2001 Monaco will be easier!
Can't wait to see the continuation / conclusion video on this repair... Appreciate when you show us when things go right, and when they go wrong... But to have to wait for it...😅

Them new rollers are really neat, though I might have put some construction adhesive as the least I could do just to try and keep it in place.
Looking forward to the conclusion!

I love the end. My retort is “Go Figure”.

@@kevinblasters659 For sure.
I bet Epoxy would hold it as good as those screws.
you're very close :)
Glad that you are doing this
I e mailed you about the 2000 Beaver marquis need to do the same thing to the slide out
Plus Iam trying to figure out the solar on the roof is not working
I worked for Beaver in the early 2000s. The slid outs on these didn't even work well when new inside the factory 😅
it was an odd choice to not make them through frame slide outs ;)
@@AZExpertwhat's a frame slide out ? I thought that's what yours is.
DHA, how's that roller going to stay in place if you don't screw it in?
Who makes those adjustable slide out rollers?
James I’m not surprised that there are issues with that slide being it’s 22 years old. Doesn’t seem like it was a very well designed system to start with. Maybe a worm gear would have been a better idea.
Right guy on the job
Thanks for sharing.. How are you going to keep it in place? Part 2. Like 731
You should go with the bloopers instead of editing them out.
I believe the video would be a hoot.
Good Luck !
The bracket which secured the slide out roller was never secured to the floor on our 2018 Holiday Rambler Vacationer. The bracket turned and chewed up the floor.
What you can’t see what’s going on behind the FRP
I have the same situation
I attach some stainless steel to the FRP so that the rollers rolled on the stainless steel

no there were at least ten maybe more I didn't count them all.
When you reinstall the roller, did you move it over a bit. So it hitting in a new area. I usley do.

sounds like you got a great deal, just check the roof water bay floor and slide out floors
YOU POSTED A 2015 ESSEX ON TIMTOK WIFE AND I VERY VERY INTERESTED IN THAT COACH. IS IT FOR SALE? AND WHERE?
no it is sold already I'm sorry

Hope nothing too bad?
Couldn't you just secure a strip(s) of steel to the bottom of the slide? It seems like that would raise it and protect the scarred surface of the slide.
Sooo... what did you end up doing?
Oh No!
OH COME ON!!!! That was DIIIIRRRTTTYYYY.

Say it ain't so......James made a mistake? Are you going to add an extra roller or 2?
maybe, still better that a cable slide :)
You need a GoPro to use on your forehead that way you can use both hands. 😊
