Sometimes the registration on the app (to control them) is just a subsided data mining deal. Your data is worth about $30 to the quants.

I do not like app control toys. 60 to 70 years from now you will not be able to play with them, you will still be able to play with your toys from the 1950's to the 1990's.

@@Robothut That's true. Apps are a bit of an overkill for a physical toy. It's also so they can save money by making your phone the remote control. It's the data collection aspect of things that you need to be careful of.
