Really helpful and clear break down. Not bogged down in technical and fluff to extend the video. Just straight to the point and easy to understand. So much so I thought I'd leave this feedback Thanks!
Sometimes these RUclips tutorials don't have answers to the problem, or don't fully answer the questions, and sometimes you're lucky to find someone like Magic Smoke! I had that exact same problem with my coffee machine and the answer was clear, short and solved my problem - Super helpful!! Thank you!
Question: I put the switch in the oven as you said, but I didn't use IPA solvent (I didn't know what it was/didn't have any). I now put the switch back in the machine and it works. Is it still worth cleaning the switch with IPA (I ordered some)?
Exactly the same issue for me, thanks for a quick clear concise video and not least for reminding me to take a picture of the microswitch connectors before I removed them! It's good to come across quality content out there still.
excellent video. i have sorted the same problem quicker by spraying WD-40 through the sensor opening, without removing undoing any of the panels. wd-40 is a silicon free pressurised oil that drives out moisture etc, very common in the uk.
Legend! Had this issue. Removed the micro switch, washed with IPA, oven at 50 degrees for 90 minutes. Then refitted, turned on, hey presto, problem solved. Thank you for a great video!
Muchísimas gracias por el tutorial. Tenía este problema desde hace unos meses, y en el servicio técnico me querían cobrar 100 euros por la reparación. Increíble.
Thanks so much! The problem was solved. Instead of a broken switch, we installed a jumper between grey and blue wire. Now everything is working fine until we receive a new switch :)
Dude, You saved a couple of hundred for us... My one had exactly the same problem.... followed your instructions then dried it in a oven for an hour and magic happened. Machine works again.
I 'over cleaned' my Corso and got exactly the same issue. I put the microswitch in the oven and it worked once, then failed again. However, without this video I'd never have known the cause - so one £6 microswitch from ebay later, - It's up and running and happy again. Thanks!!
This is exactly what happened to my DeLonghi machine. Thank you for great advice. In my case it was enough to spray the switch with WD40 and wait a bit. I needed to buy torx keys to unscrew the deck.
I have actually returned a machine (ESAM 4200) for this problem without knowing what caused it! I had this happen again this morning and your video has been a lifesaver! I didn't take the machine apart or clean the switch with ISO, I just used a hairdryer on a high heat to evaporate any liquid residue on the microswitch and it started working again! Wipe the base with a cloth so you don't get coffee grounds everywhere before you do this.
@@razenby Engineering to cut costs, these machines have a lot of plastic in them for the RRP. I'll be getting a Sage machine when my 4200 eventually dies solely because of the build/metal construction.
I'd like to thank you for your tip. I didn't have the correct screwdriver to open the bottom of the machine. After opening the back and not getting anywhere, I thought I'd read the comments. I'm glad I did. Enjoying a nice cuppa right now. Thanks 👍🏼 Also thanks to magic smoke for the original video 🙌🏼
thanks for this video - has saved our machine. Though i just bypassed the switch and have connected the wires so it will never bother me again. We regulary clean it out anyway.
Life saver! Thank you so much! I didn’t have to do all the steps, my problem was that I had some water another the coffe machine and that’s why the red light was on. 🙃🙃🙃
Cleaning & drying the switch didn't help; but I salvaged a switch from another (broken) machine & fitted it to mine. The replacement was easy, & took less than 10 minutes (even without having had a coffee this morning). My machine is a 'Caffe Corso'. The other machine was a 'Magnifica'. They seem identical, apart from the front panel; the part from the Magnifica worked perfectly on the Caffe Corso. Thanks for the clear video, & thanks to other commenters who mentioned they were able to replace the switch.
Thanks a million. You saved me a lot of time and frustration. I just needed to clean off micro switch which I expect had a grain of coffee on it. Have now subscribed.
Came to your page as I wasn't 100 percent sure I was on the right track with the microswitch. My microswitch seems to be working even after giving it a spray of WD40 and then a rinse in IPA. Checked with multimeter and seemed to be functioning fine but machine not responding. So going to give it a bake for a while as jumping the brown and blue wires has allowed me to make a cuppa.
Perfect, just had this exact issue, microswitch was covered in coffe grinds!! Solution worked like a charm - just sprayed conact cleaner all over micro switch and left to dry.
Great job. This is the weakest part of the machine, you would expect them to have a concertina rubber boot and an actuator pin to act on the microswitch. Pls remember to like and subscribe. Thanks.
@@peterimmer3 😅 wrong comment I replied to. It was the original post I was responding to, drying the microswitch in situ rather than remove it and baking in an oven, apols 😂
I have a different model but had the same problem after cleaning and probably splashing water into that micro switch. I opened it (as in another video), checked the microswitch made that clicking noise, then used a hairdryer to dry it for 10 min or so and it worked again. Thanks so much!
@@MadfishFPV when i saw it was security heads, i tried the hairdryer pointed at the slot, 2 mins later the machine worked again. If the problem is water getting in there I would highly recommend that method over dismantling
Thanks, exactly the problem. Torx screws have a centre pin on mine so I couldn’t remove. Fixed with a spray of WD40 and a hairdryer on warm not hot for 4 minutes into the hole.
Thanks. Yup a Myford. About 30 years old (imperial) and had never been used. Great Lathe. The plain metal bearings on main spindle are still very tight....
The mechanism may not be able to park. Have you removed the block and cleaned all the compacted coffee from it? Does it make any whirring noise at all or just flash?
Fixed the problem first time. After a year or so found the tray FULL with used coffee .Didn't used water or any solution knowing about this mistake.Orderd a new switch replaced the old one (the light on the tray was still on) the error still there.Any ideas please?
Hmm, check the drive belt an pulleys look OK and are not spinning on their shafts. can you hear the usual whirring noise when you power up? I take it you have removed and cleaned the filter and explurging mechanism?. Coffee grounds can get compacted and are almost like wood when you have to pick it off. Check there isn't a build up of coffee grounds at the side where the filter swings over to collect the ground coffee from the grinder mechanism. Inspect the mechanism for broken or damaged parts.
@Magic Smoke Update.I sent the machine to Delonghi for service.I can't wait to see what they say and especially how much will they charge me.If it is worth it or not.
What an odd coincidence. I hadn't seen a microswitch for about twenty years and then did a repair on a planer last night - microswitch gummed up. Now here's another one. These things come in threes normally, don't they...?
@@MarkMcCluney Good job. I wasn't sure if anything corrosive agent from the wife's armory such as de-scaler spray was deployed. What should have been open contacts were measuring 16K leakage on the multimeter so whatever it was it was pretty conductive. So I thought it best to wash it out.... IPA is miscible with water so after a rinse in IPA the residue is far more volatile than plain water so it dries out much more quickly.
I tried doing this but unfortunately it didn't work 😞. Im getting a flashing grounds container light after pressing the single coffee button(solid green) after the machine has been turned on and prepped.
@@razenby I don't, but I have heard of people replacing the microswitch. Forgive my ignorance but is this a difficult job to replace it on the ESAM 2800 machine? I could not seem to detach the microswitch for some reason after I opened the machine up a few weeks ago.
