Yay!!! I was very happy and excited to see your reaction to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, after you and Monica loved the first one I was dying to see your reaction to this darker, emotional, heartbreaking, and empowering story and how the world of Wakanda moves forward without its beloved king and Black Panther, T'Challa, and getting introduced to Namor and the nation of Talokan. I can't wait to see your reactions, Rico and Monica! 😊
Riri Williams is Ironheart in the comics
@@acwolf92 Yes, she's like a super genius and if I remember well in the comics Peter was already a grown man in civil war 1 against cap so Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) place in the MCU is actually Riri's like the kid discovered by Tony, the relationship between the two of them and the mentor thing, the kid fighting in a civil war, ...
Okay, I'm gonna give a quick lesson about black panther, bucky, and captain America the Steve rogers one. Yes they have healing capabilities. The serum enhanced the cells of cap and bucky to regenerate faster than a normal person. Meaning wounds heal faster. Black panthers herb is pretty much the same as the serum so yes it gives any black panther a healing factor. Hell, even spiderman has a healing factor and it's even stronger than the heroes I just mentioned.
I usually have bad experiences with big crowds at the theaters, but I really appreciated how silent the audience was during the Chadwick Boseman credit sequence.
It was absolutely the craziest experience I had in a movie theater. Not a sound, until you could hear quiet sobbing all around. Nobody talked afterwards, there was really nothing to say, just so much emotions.
The moment was supposed to be that, and you and a lot of other people were lucky to go to a theater where people gave proper respect…
In mine, it’s we all had a hive mind for the whole moment, we literally all stood up in silence doing the sign during the whole segment…
It truly was a beautiful experience
😊
Yeah you could hear a cotton ball fall. I stopped chewing my popcorn.
The film was truly incredible. Oh my God, Letitia Wright went through so many ranges of emotions so freaking effortlessly Grief, Anger, Apathy, Empathy and finally Peace! T'Challa character mean a lot to many people I was so happy they gave him a legacy to live on in.
This movie has been an emotional rollercoaster I’ve ever experienced in theatres. And the movie received a number of nominations such as best costume design and best supporting actress for Angela Bassett. And the last scene with Shuri reminiscing her memories of T’Challa still broke my heart.
The Marvel Roll at the start, with the Silence IN THE THEATER was amazing!
Everyone in the Cinema Said Nothing, no one laughing, no one talking to eachother! Everyone understood the Assignment, and it was amazing!
Riri williams is Called IRON HEART she will also have her series in future❤
Great reaction. Wakanda Forever is in my top 5 MCU movies of all time. Such a powerful movie. Outstanding performances especially from Letitia Wright and Angela Bassett.
RiRi Williams is IronHeart. The story is changed for the MCU. In the comics she was discovered by Stark in one of his outreach programs. She build her suit because she wanted to protect people at home and she was a big fan of Iron Man. This is the change for the MCU but RiRi is up there with Stark and Richards in scientific knowledge. She might not be at that top level but she could be oneday.
Namor is also a big character that you seem unaware about. He is Marvel's first mutant. Actually he is one of Marvel's first character before there every was a Marvel Comics. He is neither a good guy or bad guy and he can rival the strongest of all of earth's heroes. The change for the MCU was moving him from Atlantean folklore to Aztec/Mayan folklore. In the comics he and his people are 100% a menace. The character was copied by DC when they created Aquaman but that was the comics business in the 1930s.
Riri is way smarter than tony Stark
Rest In Piece To Chadwick Boseman We Will Remember Him - WAKANDA FOREVER!!!!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever created so much excitement and absolutely delivered with it’s fun action, cool costumes, strong visuals, pleasant music, decent villian, a badass new title character, and best of all, it serves as an respectful and emotional tribute to Chadwick Boseman.
Im amazed at how Monica is always right. LOL
Great call with the Sirens. I haven't seen anyone else identify them. Love it
WAKANDA FOREVER!!! This film is definitely one of the top 10 MCU films.
Riri williams is having her own show and her name is iron-heart. You know how basically every mcu character is getting a young avenger version she's ironman's kid version. They did change her backstory a little bit though from the comics if i remember right.
The Juneteenth drop was needed bro. This was good for my soul ❤❤❤
The dead silence during the Marvel Studios/Chadwick part in the theatre was an incredible experience. You could hear a pin drop, it was completely silent.
The girl in the kind of Iron man suit's name is Iron-Heart
not yall talking str8 through the queen's death or the music part where shuri sees talokan - ltlry the most impactful parts of the movie😅
Fun Fact: Namor and the blue-skinned Atlanteans first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1939. As interesting as the play on word with Namor's name with that of the spanish word N'Amor, the writer Bill Everett said that he simply took such names as "Roman" and spelled it backwards.
Chadwick Boseman was in his early 40s and it felt like his career was finally just kicking off
Let’s take a moment to remember T’Challa in Civil War and his journey with vengeance for his father’s death. Both Black Panthers have had to battle the power of vengeance to come into their own as protectors.
1:00:55 Ironheart. She is getting a series in the coming years, too.
In the comics, apparently (I never read them but I picked stuff up from my brother and from fanfiction and stuff), there are a lot of Iron People beyond Iron Man.
The queen telling Shuri that she has something to tell her when they were at the beach on the anniversary of T'Challa's passing was such a great touch because she was basically going to tell her about T'Challa Jr.
I love that you mentioned Shuri's Black Panther being mixture of technology and tradition (the former she normally carries with her, while the latter she normally turns away from). The choice of using a synthesizer throughout her theme score (you first hear it when Shuri makes her first appearance as Black Panther) was such a great decision. It's an electronic instrumentation, which fits the techie of Shuri (and also gave the theme a darker, grimier feel to represent both her power and her emotions). Towards the end of the score, you hear T'Challa's more traditional african drum score from the first movie emerge. So Shuri's theme ("Wakanda Forever") is heavily electronic, but in the end, the tradition is still there underneath...
I have to say, I was VERY surprised that the score wasn't nominated for an Oscar, especially since the first Black Panther won for Best Score (amazing score btw) and I find the score from THIS film even better. When I left the theater opening weekend, the first thing I did was find the score and play it in my car all the way home and lowkey obsessed over it for a couple of months lol. Shuri's theme is hands down one of my favorite score tracks in the movie ("We Know What You Whisper", "They Want It, But No", "Sirens", Namor's theme, "Namor's Throne", and the score that plays when Namor that I can't remember how to spell are probably my favorites, for now lol)...
They call her Iron heart. Tony Stark would love to meet her.
This is one of my favorite movies in the MCU. I particularly like Namor. And also Namora, Mabel Cadena did an amazing job with her. I need those two in a solo movie.
Monica has great insights and perspectives!
First time I watched this, I think I cried five times in the first fifteen minutes. I was originally for re-casting, but this was clearly the way to go. 👍✌❤
T'challa was recast in a way. It'll be interesting to see how quickly they age him and if he'll join the Young Avengers.
Rip chadwick and Angela deserves all the awards she killed it and it good seeing shuri kill her role as well taking on a very heavy mantle. That scene where she cries when toussaint tells her his wakandan name gets me also Namor and his people were so good to see it was chilling when they were singing
This movie was really amazing and an excellent tribute to Chadwick Boseman
Yup, the way the entered Wakanda was through water drumming via the river tribe. One of the water drummers was actually a friend of Chadwick, may he rest in peace! Also rest in peace to Dorothy Steel, the merchant tribe elder who also passed away in 2021. I'm sure this movie was as healing as it was difficult for the cast to create.
Fun fact: since everyone's already shared who RiRi is, her comic character was named after both Rihanna and Robin Williams...which is probably why Rihanna was tapped to record for the soundtrack.
Also she's a student at MIT...who else do we know that's going to be an MIT student...?
That's interesting about Riri Williams's name. Rihanna first name is also Robyn (full name: Robyn Rihanna Fenty)...
Missed you guys! Don't make us wait this long again
I like that this movie showed two great cultures… obviously African culture but Mayan Mexican Culture as well
Love y'all! Great reaction, glad to see reactors who enjoyed this film as much as I did! And the General's name is Okoye, she's my fav in the Wakanda/Black Panther franchise. M'Baku is a close second.
In regards to the Ramonda and Okoye argument where Ramonda brings up Okoye standing by Killmonger, there's a couple of scenes from the first movie that hit A LOT different in retrospect to this conversation...
In the first Black Panther film, after Killmonger "kills" T'Challa, Nakia secretly met up with Okoye to run away with the family. Now, in Wakanda, it is very clear to everyone that honoring your duties are very important in their culture. Despite this, Nakia automatically assumes Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje and the General of Wakanda, would be willing to abandon her duties and run away with them. She was genuinely confused and taken aback when Okoye refused. There's also a great deleted scene between Okoye and W'Kabi in the throne room that happened before this scene(it takes place almost right after T'Challa is killed) and that conversation might have been the reason Okoye stayed and is worth watching if you haven't (it also put perspective on W'Kabi's anger)...
Afterwards, when Nakia grabbed Ross, then met back up with Ramonda and Shuri(after asking who Ross was), Ramonda looked around confused and first thing she asked was, "Where Okoye?" When Nakia told her that she was serving the new king, you can see the shock and hurt on Ramonda's face (Shuri as well). Remember, they all are fully aware of how seriously Okoye took her duties, and yet, all 3 of them automatically assumed and expected that Okoye would drop it to be with them. That right there shows me that Okoye wasn't just the General of Wakanda and the leader of the Dora Milaje to them. They saw her as part of their family. They probably saw her as the unofficial 3rd child of the royal family and treated her as such. She was close with T'Challa. I even imagine that T'Challa, Nakia, Okoye, and W'Kabi were quite the foursome of a crew, double dating and all of that, probably since they were teens. They loved Okoye, and her not joining them when Killmonger took the throne was like a gut punch to them. Even though they probably understood, I imagine they felt betrayed, even if they were willing to look past it...
The scene between Ramonda and Okoye comes across as a mother reaching their limit with their child. It's more than just a, "I'm just disappointed". It's a, "I tried move forward from past actions and hurt because I love you, but you've now you've let me down and hurt me for the last time"...
The most devastating part in all of this, Ramonda and Okoye never got to make amends before she died. The last time Okoye was in the throne room, she was on her knees, crying, begging, and instead of calling her "Queen Mother", she referred to her as "mother". Now, there she was again, with Ramonda laying at her feet, as Okoye is on her knees, crying and begging for her to "wake up, mother" (as Shuri is screaming "mama"). It's almost seems like an underlying reminder about fighting with your loved ones and what you say out anger because tomorrow they could be dead. It's amazing how one scene can retrospectively add so much more weight to previous scenes, which in turn adds an even bigger weight to the very scenes that elevated it...
I will never forget Opening Night of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" during the Marvel Studios intro, that silence everyone in the cinema was crying and sniffling. RIP King Chadwick Boseman 🙏🏼✊🏼💙
37:40 I mean they do but I think the other point from Namor is 'why should we be the ones to run? We don't invite or ask the others to come, the others have invaded us because they could and our only options have been to hide or to run. Every time we fought in the past, they won. This time, we will win, and they will be the ones to run from us in fear'.
This is one of the most emotional movies, but also so good and this movie has some much action.
Iron Heart was like the Iron Man version of Miles Morales. I think he was either dead or ill. She had Tony as a JARVIS-like AI in her suit.
Umm... There is nothing alike between Ri-Ri Williams and Miles Morales. They don't even exist in the same universe.....literally.
@@bryce253 You saying that Riri is not a legacy character to Iron Man? The same as Miles being the legacy character to Spider-man? That what you are saying? Ultimate Peter dies and Miles takes over. Tony gets sick and gives Riri an AI of him for her Iron Heart suit. They are the same type of character. Not alike, but the same type.
Okay, last comment lol. I just wanted to point out that each Black Panther's beginning journey is about vengeance and its ability to consume you. In Civil War, we had T'Challa getting consumed by vengeance and when he realized he almost made the mistake of killing the wrong man, he stepped back, looked at himself and what vengeance was doing to him, which led to him showing mercy to his father's killer and atoning by helping to save the man he almost killed. In Black Panther, N'Jadaka (Killmonger) was also consumed by vengeance to the point that he became arrogant in not understanding that his vengeance could could burn the world down and it led to his death in the end. Here in Wakands Forever, we have Shuri's journey, and once again, the Black Panther is consumed by vengeance, only this time Shuri has journeys of the previous two panthers as and she rejects her brother path to take and purposely allows her vengeance to consume (which fits into Shuri's theme score, "Wakanda Forever", as I mentioned in my other comment with it being a darker tone her theme, but also hearing T'Challa's thene cime through in the end). In the end, she saw what she became, remembered who she truly was, and realized she didn't lose it, nor did she no longer want to...
I love that we've gotten three different, three stories of vengeance, three different paths taken, but also how one's journey has affected the following Panther's...
3-4 months ago I found your channel and have since watched all your Marvel reactions from start to finish (must admit some numerous times 😂)....I really have loved all of them and watching Monica's appreciation grow for the characters as it went on. I've been waiting for you both to watch this and you didn't disappoint. I'll admit I had to watch it a couple times to catch everything but boy did they honor Chadwick so well!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved this movie when I saw it at the theater! Such a moving tribute to Chadwic Boseman. The character Riri Williams is a character in the comic books and her moniker is Iron Heart which why on the final suit in the movie the chest piece is a heart and not just an arc reactor. Namor is also a character in the comics and is often viewed as an antihero. Sometimes he helps the protagonists and sometimes he is the antagonist. My personal bias is that they did change his origin from being an Atlantian to being a decendant of an indigenous people (Mayan) from a part of Mexico. My dad is from the region of the Yucatan that was where Nakia went to find Shuri. I think it was a good way to subvert expectations of the people who knew him from the comics.
Love these reactions!! It’s so fun to rewatch the movie with you guys ❤
She’s known as Iron Heart whom is getting her own series next year. It will be a series about Technology VS Magic with a big demon character called MEPHISTO who’s basically like the devil.
Riri Williams’ hero name is IRONHEART
I like that the Queen was indeed planning to tell Shuri about Toussaint at the campfire but Namor interrupted it.
Kind of inappropriate that the slavers called him 'a child without love', when Namor was raised with so much love by his mom and other ppl in the talokan community. I'm guessing they mean that he has no love for the surface ppl.
T'challa and Sheri are both warriors and scientist. The first Black panther suit t'challa was wearing first appearance he built he got the new one from Sheri in the Black panther movie.
Also the cave they are being held is way above the depth of Talokan Capitol. Thus they are able to swim to the surface with the diving suit
Was waiting for this for months ❤
This movie was incredible and powerful!!!! Hope you two like it! 🙏🏽💪
1:00:50 Riri Williams is now Iron Heart. In the comics she basically stole Stark Tech. After some tweaking, Tony took her under his wing.
One thing that sucks we couldn’t get in the MCU is in the comics T’Challa marries storm and has a son with some black panther low abilities along with being a mutant with powers like storm
"no i was just stopping" and starts crying again
thats was me the entire time i watched this movie hahaha
Riri Williams is Ironheart. The suit we see in this movie is the classic Ironheart suit in the comics, it's paying homage to it. Future Ironheart in the MCU will have a more contemporary suit. Ironheart will be one of the next generation Avengers.
Riri wiliams superhero name is iron heart in the comics
33:45 Hearing Namor saying he's a mutant, put a huge smile on my face 😌
In the comics, Namor is considered to be Marvel's first mutant character back in 1939. Way before the X-Men were introduced in mid 1960's 🙏🏽💪
My favourite mcu movie forever
You know what, it just occurred to me that when Shuri was trying to revive the heart shaped herb, its just like in endgame when they were reviving/remaking the gauntlet with the stones
huge sub mariner fan, was so hyped when i saw the winged feet , they finaly "put namor on the tube"!
I don't get a tear in all movie just sadness but at the end when they show the son off T'challa my eyes was on tears of happines.
Namor Perfect Character With Kang , Mandarin
39:23 And that's why when you go somewhere you leave a message with your parents or your friends so that they know where you are and how long you'll be gone for
Best reactions on RUclips
I’m backkk. I missed u guys
I love this movie so much and it was amazing seeing it on the big screen. Ok here are some facts you need to know for one the one with the Iron Man suit is known in the comics as Ironheart and she is basically the one that takes over when Tony dies. Also Nemor's backstory was changed in this movie because in the comics he is basically from Atlantas and he is a hybrid as well. They changed it though because of how similler that idea was to Aquaman's story even though Nemor was created first in the comics.
FINALLY!!! 💙
This movie marks the end of Phase 4. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I have hope that Phase 5 will be better
During the Marvel logo tribute, all you could hear in my theatre was sniffling and the small sound of heavy breathing from the tears...including my own
1:00:48 She's Iron-Heart. I don't much about her character, but she looks up to Iron-Man. She has a Tony Stark AI to help her as well I think
Riri williams is IRON HEART. You can see a literal iron heart when she was making her suit before the final fight. ALSO she's gonna have her own series and its rumored shes gonna be fighting magic so its gonna be machine vs dark magic.
Literally the only thing I didn't like about this movie is that I felt that Riri Williams' plot kinda took away from everything else. She's going to be a main part of another story down the road, Marvel could've easily just gone "some genius kid invented a vibranium detector, we don't know who it is but we found the machine", I feel like the overall plot would've worked better focusing on Shuri's struggle with her responsibilities as Princess, not having to babysit a new character who we're probably not gonna see for quite a while.
and I'm sure her part in the movie was originally smaller, with her show being her proper introduction, but seeing as most of the movie had to be re-written after Chadwick's passing, they boosted her role up.
@@simplyambyy Oh that's almost certainly what happened, but I still think the movie suffered for it. Again nothing against her character, but her whole plot just felt shoe-horned in.
yeah but then people would bitch and complain that we never got to know who the kid was. And then they’ll bitch again when it seems like a retcon to have it be Shuri later.
@@NoArmsSally except ironheart is getting either a show or a movie already, so marvel could have teased her rather than, shoehorn in a plot that only took away from the main plot.
I don't know if someone already commented this. The whole mythology and customs of Talokan comes from the Mayan Culture. I come from El Salvador, we also had Mayan ancestors there. The headpiece Namor wears before going to war with Wakanda is a reference tu Ku'Kul'Kan or Quetzalcoatl in other versions of the mythos which was she sun god of the Mayan and Aztecs and was represented by a Feathered Sky Serpent.
Been waiting for this!
1:00:53 that is Iron Heart who is meant to have a series
I was extremely worried about this movie after CB's passing since there was a heavy debate about whether or not to recast but I was blown away leaving the theater because it went beyond my expectations. Namor, who I didn't know much about, was incredible as a villain. Shuri, I related to everything about her journey from her grief to her reluctance to embrace the spiritual aspects of her culture. Riri, was a great addition and I can't wait to see her series "Iron Heart". I mean, everything about the movie was amazing and I felt a little guilty about doubting the show runners and was in awe of everyone involved of their strength and dedication to overcome such a tragedy. My entire theater was silent for the opening sequence out of respect and I agree with Monica that some shows and movies will gloss over or won't do the passing of an actor justice but WF did and made a great movie on top of it.
i think we should get 2 mcu reactions this week to make up for the long wait
Okay, I came to this one to see how Monica would handle this. I love how you two are normies (I wrote a book about T'Challa) but have intuitive intelligence when it comes to films! THANKS for this!!
12:32 One of my favorite anti-heroes! My man Namor! 🙏🏽💪
The most beautiful and powerful movie that Marvel has ever done 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😢😢
watch star wars sequels which includes the force awakens, the last jedi and the rise of skywalker
Riri's name is iron heart in the comics
Some scenes of the movie were filmed in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Finally!!!!!!
Riri is a character called Iron Heart
MCU Secret Invasion this weeek!! another project to add to your list :)
that doesnt come out yet.
you mean secret invasion
7:27 Let the games begin
Black panther is the avatar of Bast through the herb the powers are given, also moonknight is the avatar of Khonshu, like that Namor is the avatar of the Serpent God, I read it somewhere but not sure it's correct, anyway happy u guys reacting to Marvel movies
Yeah that's true though for Namor it's kinda retconned for the mcu. He's just a mutant in the comics actually he's "Aquaman" before Aquaman he debuted like 2yrs minimum before Aquaman and is literally the same Ruler of Atlantis mother was Atlantean and father was a lighthouse keeper DC legit changed nothing except his name 😂😂 and Marvel obviously didn't want to have Namor be exactly like that even though he came before comics wise so they switched up the background for the better imo. So he wasn't always associated with a God(mcu god) and they haven't really explained the mutant situation in the MCU yet so associating him with basically the underwater version of the Black Panther could make it easier to be explained to everyone. It's actually the 1st time they straight up said a character is a mutant.
4:30 this part of the movie is similar to what happened to Indonesia (my country). So, our current president, Jokowi, last year(?) Announced that we will not be exporting our raw mining resources to the western world and the EU was angry and threaten Indonesia but our president was fearless and said that they can throw whatever threat to us because we should not be afraid of them.
Guys the iron man suit is called "Iron Heart"
