Thank you! I'm not going to hang to ceiling which is 9ft. I'm going to hang 86 because windows are not either height. I think 86 is a good compromise. I'll use a double rod to hang sheers and the block out drapes.
what about 10ft? can i send you a pic of what i currently have? i cannot tell if its TOO high and the gap is too much.. this is stressful lol! is there a way i can send you a pic of my curtain and tell me if i should lower it?
Does this still work with bedroom windows that are quite small? I feel like it might look daft. My bedroom isn’t very big and I’m worried the curtains will take over!
Actually, curtains hung from floor to ceiling will make your space appear bigger since it emphasizes the vertical height of the space. With small windows, you want to ensure that you get a longer curtain rod so that the curtain panels can sit to the sides of the window when they're open. You don't want to block any of your window with the curtains when you have them open. It will help bring warmth and make your space appear bigger. Hope that makes sense.
My bedroom has windows that are wide side-to-side and narrow vertically - they're like 6 feet wide and 20 inches top to bottom. They're also placed kind of high on the wall, so curtains going all the way to the floor will look stupid. Please advise.
The full length curtains are about creating a line that goes floor to ceiling to make the room appear bigger so it is about more than just the windows. In your case, I would still hang the curtains from floor to ceiling, but maybe just on the far left and far right side.
What are your thoughts on black out curtains? I love having the sun come in and brighten the room but I also really like having a dark room for movies or sleeping. What do you recommend?
Black out curtains are great for certain rooms like the bedroom. You just have to decide what will work best for you space, but both work great in any space!
You only need your curtain rod to be slightly longer than your window frame. So I wouldn't get anything less than 40" for the rod. It depends on how much wall space you have on either side of your window and if you want the curtains to be next to your window when you open them instead of overlapping your window. I hope that makes sense.
@@VintageHipDecor I want them to be a light when I open them out the window do you know what size I need please I need help I have a 50 curtian size I think that to big
@@VintageHipDecor and I have a 28-48 rod in my chart I just need to know what’s the best curtain size i have two 5o curtian sizes but I’m sure if it’s to bee for a 36 inch window
Measure from above your window to the floor, and go from there? You want curtains to be wider than the window itself. Probably a traditional 96" height and a 50" width. Curtains do that wavy thing, so the width number will seem deceptively wide compared to how it will actually look.
I'm struggling with curtain length bc I hearing that you purchase the length from floor to ceiling (in my case 8 ft/95"), however, no one ever outs the curtain rods all the way up to the ceiling, so that would mean the curtains then pool along the floor, no? Ugh!
I totally hear you! It can be frustrating. This is how I look at it - Most curtains have a bit of fabric above the loops that the rod goes through so that helps account for some of it, but also, a little bit of pooling on the floor is fine too. Floor to ceiling is just a guideline to aim for and getting pretty close is good enough. The guideline is just to help prevent the curtains being way too short lol. If you really are not happy with the amount of fabric on the ground, you can get some no sew hem tape to shorten them a bit with just an iron. I hope that helps you!
The length of the curtains isn’t necessarily that simple if your rod mounting hardware limits how close to the ceiling it can be hung AND if you are using curtain rings, which I need to allow the curtains be opened and closed easily. I have 9 foot ceilings and even my 102” curtains are too long with my specific rod and rings. Totally bummed.

Do you know 😩
What about the width when using a set of two curtains for one window?
Thank you! I'm not going to hang to ceiling which is 9ft. I'm going to hang 86 because windows are not either height. I think 86 is a good compromise. I'll use a double rod to hang sheers and the block out drapes.
You are funny, Karla! I love how hanging the curtains changed the acoustics of your room - it feels so much cozier!
It does!
You don’t need to account for rod or track?
For a 9 foot ceiling if I want the curtain to kiss the floor what height of curtain is appropriate?
Great question! For 9 ft ceilings you'll need 108" curtains.

Are the smaller windows 36 inches wide? The curtains are 50 inches and you have 2 of them up?
Question. How many inches below the ceiling did you mount your brackets?
Hi Betty! We mounted them about 3.25" below the ceiling. Just enough to be able to get the curtain rod into place. Hope that helps!

I love the bloopers that would be me , too.🎉
Haha, thank you!
If I have 8 foot ceiling, what would be the length of my curtains? Thank you
With 8 ft ceiling you would do 8 ft curtains which is 96"
Hope that helps!
I’m having a hard time finding 108 inch curtains that go on ceiling tracks… any recommendations?
I'm sorry! I don't have experience with that kind of curtain unfortunately.

Curtain length for 10ft ceiling?
Thanks dear. Really appreciate it
No worries.
Hi! How far out did you mount the brackets from the side of your window?
About two to three inches.
Do curtains have to be hung above the window frame?
Thank you! Helpful!
So glad!
