Much prefer this style of battle report where the game is the focus and not the chat. Understand you need to make coin; but it seems like the game is not important when you do it with live chat. Thanks for keeping fantasy kicking! Love the Empire paint job, particularly the wizard.
This and 100% this. Same understanding for money, but it just annoys me when you watch a 4 hour reupload and they start screaming some random comment mid sentence when they were saying what they were doing in a game. Am very happy they still also make these type of reports.
One thing steve is very good at is there are things for everyone on his channel. He does live batraps as well as hand held so hopefully he has a big bank of handheld games for you!

Holy crap this is such a friggen gift. I literally been wanting to watch an orcs and goblins vs empire battle and this showed up on my feed. Thank you for playing the classics! Its these ones that make me love the game
The cinematography for the army overview was phenomenal this episode
29:52 That BSB died when his unit broke, so there was no need to chase him (to be more precise, it was impossible, but of course you could have made an overrun, which would have been the same in the end... but maybe it would have been better in this case not to overrun).
17:45 Chariot horses (or, in this case, chariot boars) can only attack models that are located in their front. EDIT: Okay, I just saw you realized this later...

At around 37 min I don't think the Orc Chariot would have broken as it was a multiple combat. The combat res from the goblin chariot charging and wiping that unit of pistoliers would have made the Orc chariot actually win that fight against the other pistolier in their flank.

I gotta say. I love the live batreps for the interaction with Steve and Luka/Jaxson/guests. But a handheld is perfect for doing painting of minis.

Well done! The setting looks great, and lots of dice distinct for each side. Love fantasy colonial times not about jumping straight at the 40k but anyway very good play and report. Quite medieval, and 8th edition means potential as well probably.
I think the second steam generation misfire rolled the result where you lose steam points. I don't think any of the options both cause wounds and lower how many points are generated. I think the priest ward save also might only effect combat, but I could be mistaken about that.

Love your videos, amazing content and keeps my love of the game alive. But, dudes, for purposes of the chariot attacking back is it not a single model so should be able to use all its attacks even if hit from the side? Or am I being too pedantic? :)

15:13 i'm afraid you cant rally a unit that started to flee in The same turn, it says so under "rally fleeing troops". Quote: "If the unit started to flee in this turn it cannot attempt to rally - there’s too much momentum built up
already!"

umm at that time stamp i literally said they fled from a charge though. thats the previous turn.

Yeah, the Savage Orcs lost that important combat against the Knights... many people claim that Savage Orcs Big'Uns are better than Black Orcs. But Black Orcs, costing roughly the same, would have been much better against the Knights (with their ability to switch to great weapons); they would have probably won.

A bit curious about the odds of this combat I did some calculations and was a bit surprised to find that it was less lopsided in orc favor than I had thought. Saw your comment and added black orcs to the table.
Black orcs in this scenario would inflict slightly more damage, so slight that the champion's WS5 is a deciding factor (why minmaxing is allocating atleast one attack on the champion lol)
But Savages have a better save and thus have better odds.
Not to mention savage big 'uns are core(!) and against more typical stat and save profiles inflict way more damage than black orcs do, they are objectively better in this army book and game version.
Unsaved wound infliction :
Black orcs 6 wide, champion great weapons and hit reroll: 5.6
Savage big 'uns 6 wide, champion, ahw, hit reroll : 5.2
8 knight attacks with reroll hit and wound, 5 horses rerolling wound, captain with +1S and his horse :
4.5 against savages
5.7 against black orcs
Consider ranks orcs 'should' win either way of course. Couple that with doomdivers (that are extremely potent against the empire list) exploding and the Orc player was very unlucky this game.
@@Klosterliv Thanks for the maths, that is less in favour of the Black Orcs than I thought. However...
"But Savages have a better save and thus have better odds." *This is only true as long as the shaman is still alive, after that their ward save drops to 6+. So attacking the shaman makes sense.*
BTW, Black Orcs wouldn't have suffered from animosity like the Savage Orcs did in this game.
@@thomasbaader6629 Well, sure, but the shaman is T5 and W3, you will deal less total damage if you attack him and may likely result in less CR. You also need to kill him in a step of higher initiative for that to matter. Fencer's blades is a nice combo on a shaman like this imo, pairs well with fists of gork too.
Yeah, no animosity is a unique perk for the black orcs, and they are good.
But for an orc player whatever unit of big 'uns you field will likely be your pound-for-pound strongest r'n'f unit, but you can only have one so if you want another unit of elite infantry in your list black orcs will be the next best thing.
