This still doesn't solve the problem with Google Assistant not responding with a "beep" after saying "Hey Google" even on Google Pixel phones.
I've gone through the last step so many times but it just turns off whenever I close settings :(

Ok I fixed it by going into account management, setting up Google assistant there, then cleared my Google cache, restarted my phone, then set up the "hey google" in settings. Hope this makes enough sense to follow. (Also take sure to have the right permissions on)

OK thanks..did all the things mentioned and will keep my fingers crossed. I own a OnePlus 8 running Android 13 and find the only way to fix it is by restarting..and even then, if the phone is idle for more than an hour, Assistant fails to respond..hopefully these fixes will work :)

thank you so much, After googling all day how to fix my assistant which wasnt working anymore, I listened to this, corrected the problem, which no one else told me to do and voila- fixed!
The deleting voice model (@2:00) and resetting it fixed it for me!! And it fixed another issue with my voice recognition that even Google support couldn't fix. Thank you!

Hi I just bought my Google pixel 6 pro in the US and I use it in Mexico. At the beginning it was working fine; but now it listens to my voice "writes what I say" but doesn't do anything, just go back to wait for my voice.

I think I figured it out, since the video directions didn't work for me.
Go into Google settings, find and clear the history (cache) pick to delete 'all time', then restart your phone.
After it's completed it's restart, and you turn it back on, let it go to the dark screen (off mode) what ever that's called, then ask a "Hey Google" question (not 'OK' Google)...and hope it's fixed. This worked for me!
But, if you still have problems, go back to settings and re check the GA settings are where you want them.
If all else fails, try enabling Bixby. Then ask Bixby to unlock your phone to use Hey Google.

I have Google set to not save history..the issue i've been seeing is if the phone is idle for over an hour after restarting the Assistant will not respond. Iv'e made the changes shown in the video and hope it will resolve the problem
Just the restart does it, and it will work couple days, and after that it does not work again

I did most of what you have listed in this video as well as I called my carrier and they went through some of the same stuff.. I still could not get it to work.. I was thinking about getting phone.. about an hour ago it started working again and it is back to normal? Maybe it was some glitch? Glad to have it back. I was hoping this would happen and it did...😅

FIXED IT! Uninstalled all Google Updates (just the Google app), uninstalled and reinstalled voice access. However, don't RETRAIN the voice. Just leave it with what you previously did. It will start opening the weather and everything while you're trying to record. LOL. It's hard to say "stop listening" fast enough for it to shut up while you record your voice answers. Of course, just turn it back on by saying, "Hey google". Seems to be working now. SAMSUNG A15

Question: My Google assistant is setup fine for voice recognition, etc. However, now when I ask Google, " Hey Google, What time is it?" It will only show the time on the screen of my android but it will not give me an AUDIBLE answer like it use to. How can I get it to give me an 'AUDIBLE' answer like before. Any suggestions? I keep my phone locked and on the Do Not Disturb settings at all times only listing favorites that can ring my phone because I sleep at odd times through the day, etc. Does that have anything to do with it?? OnePlus 8 user with their crappy android 12 version. The Google assistant in this phone is simply dead. Tried everything. I miss my LG G7 and it's microphone with the far field recognition feature. Worked every time flawlessly even in noisy environment. Thanks for your video.

I watched some videos , but they don't work on Samsung S24 Ultra. The videos are for old version of android and lots ofpeople complaining Google because the beep sound is gone.

When I said hey google to my old S10+ phone I heard a sound this was great because I could not find my phone in my house when I said ok google the sound led me to my phone. In my new S22 Ultra when I say hay google it does not make any sounds how do I get the sound back?

For those of you having problems like I did uninstall Google app on your phone then download it again there is an update for Google and also an update for Google assistant. Don't ask me why it didn't update automatically but anyways I did that and it works now
No way to uninstall Google on a OnePlus phone running Android 13..only thing you can do is disable it and since its the core of the OS, I'm not about to do that LOL

I have never had Hey Google turned on. In fact, I didn't have Google Assistant installed at all. However, up until yesterday, I could still tap on the microphone that is in the Google app bar at the top of my home screen and say "Set alarm for 9:30" and it would do it. Now, it just searches for "set alarm for 9:30" Nothing has changed on my phone. Google is apparently trying to force people to let them listen in on your life at all times by forcing Hey Google on.
i disable my google by accient, so i enable it back and its working fine. make sure you have google enable for google assistant to work.

I have gone through everything. Everything is on, but at 02:01 there is no voice model. I can't add one and i dont see how i can add one.
@Vic De meyer the problem is momentarily fixed if you uninstall Google. But some time later, the info about your voice disappears again.
Conclusion: I don't use google assistant. Probably better for my privacy 😄

Another problem occurs when you are using multiple Google accounts on same device,
If that's the case you need to enable access to the other account from Settings_Google_Settings for Google _ Assistant_ Accounts

I liked your advice, but it did not work for me. I have Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Samsung Tablet. I also use Android Auto in the car while driving. Use headphones, too. At some point Google Assistant stopped answering, just show up on the screen of my phone, but does not talk. I reset my voice numerous times, checked everything you suggested, and it still does not answer. Any ideas? It is so annoying, I spent so much time with no result. Thank you!

This is great advice, but what do you do when Google's responses are barely audible and your volume is up to 100% but when you ask it to play the news ... the sound is blaring.? I have tried everything short of a hard reset to fix this.

What’s weird is I just bought the S 23 ultra and my Google my hey Google was working perfectly. And all of a sudden when I say hey Google or OK Google it won’t work anymore. I’ve never had this problem with Siri. Not once.
Still not working. Setting a timer or alarm will not set it up on my locally installed apps as before. The timer or alarms are setup in a browser window. Google messed up badly and removed a very useful feature.

Turn GA off and on from Android Settings -> Apps -> Assistant -> All Settings -> General -> Google Assistant: Enabled/Disabled? I did do that. Also cleared Google app cache + data, left Google app's beta program and installed the public version, set other languages as system default, reset all app preferences too. Still broken.

Chris Lee Bro, You need to turn on Spoken Result on Google> Open Google App>your Profile icon>Settings>Voice> Spoken Result, Turn it on. It should fix the issue.😊
I can get the assistant to come up just fine, phone locked or not, but after it comes up it wants me to type in what I want Google to do or hit the mic button and speak to it. Is there anyway to keep the mic open so I can keep talking to Google without tapping mic button?
I found the fix. You have to go into your Google Assistant settings, go down to General, set Preferred Input to "Voice". Now when you say "Hey Google" it will accept voice commands instead of asking for you to enter input with keyboard or having to press the mic button.

My Google Assistant used to produce a wake up sound when I called it. Now it is silent. Does anyone know how to turn this wake up command back on? It was handy when I was looking for my phone.
Did ALL of this, followed everything to a tee, STILL does not work.

For some devices it looks like you can't use Google Assistant on lock screen.
For me it says my voice match is already connected to a device (not this one) and i have no voice match option to click on, only "link device to start using voice match. And what type of device should i add i only have a chromecast. When clicking on that it says "didn't find anything" Also when trying to configure "hey google" after the voice commands it says "something went wrong" Help PleaSe
rodalinjanlinjan2051 Bro, Ensure your Google Assistant app and Android device are updated. Try clearing the Google app cache or data. For the voice match problem, unlink any existing devices in the "Linked devices" section.☺️

Thanks for the response man, actually needed to update my phone and restart, was casing the assistant to bug out but all is solved now
