WOW NOW I FINALLY FOUND HOW TO DESCRIBE HIS MUSICS
At almost 63 years old this band has given me "new" music that i had almost given up finding, haunting melodies and lyrics that when combined tell the story of the human condition, love, hope, lost love, the emptiness that we all experience from time to time.
I am thankful that there are real songwriters out there, young people who have tapped into the soul of music.
Lotta equally great modern music out there, just gotta seek it out friend.

So in "I Lied" he left the girl (told her he'll come back for her but never did). But it seems here he regrets it and wishes he could go back to when she loved him like she used to (because at the end of I Lied, she admitted she also fell out of love with him). Gosh how sad 😭. Lord Huron always tells the best stories in their albums!
@Scarlett Begonias I loved that she realized the illusion of her own romantic dependence. "Oh, guess I cannot shelf my wild and indomitable human spirit." Which would make her the song narrator's perfect match, IMO. Both like "yes love, but also adventure and profound personal mysteries." :)

to me, this is the song I'd sing to the city I had to leave. I spent the best months of my life there, it saw me grow into an adult, it harbored my best memories. Then the pandemic struck and it forced me to move back to the village I come from. Leaving the city of my dreams was the worst "breakup" I've ever had and I needed almost a year to cope with the sadness. I may be moving back this summer. Will the city claim me again? Does it remember me, love me anymore? Will she let me in again when I knock?
