Fun to see a car you owned pop up on a review. :) Let me know if you have any questions about it. Even with 60k miles on it, it’s in great shape. Enjoy in good health!
EatSleepDrive your 997.1 had the standard interior, if it had the nicer full leather interior you probably would have a different opinion, especially a 997.2 with the better buttons. The Turbo always comes with the full leather, even earlier generations, so it’s always had a more upscale GT feeling.
Great review! And once you feel that torque and pickup I'm sure it's pure crack lol. Hey you might want to blur out the speedo whenever you do a speed pull....nvr know. Thanks for the content again!
Your 997 was the reason why I’ve subscribed to your channel at the first place. Now I own 991.1 4S with aero kit and I just LOVE it. I haven’t seen the video yet but my answer will be yes!
Do you ever regret getting the 4s over the CS2? Ive been shopping now and having a hard time deciding. I have this irrational fear I would regret not having RWD just to hoon around.
I don’t understand why everyone wants a GT3 RS and the Turbo gets no love. Naturally aspirated engines are dinosaurs. The turbo offers so much more and it often costs less.
My dealer sent me to the Porsche driving experience at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, AL. On the track which is nearly 2.4 miles long, I drove a 911 GTS, Turbo S and a 718 Cayman S or GTS. I was expecting to love the GTS but I preferred the Turbo S. These were all 991.2 cars so nothing was naturally aspirated. I loved that car and I wound up driving the Turbo S the most. They also have a separate course for launch control and the only car they used was the Turbo S. Talk about blurrrrrring your world. The Turbo would be a better daily driver too. But, given the choice, I'd still take the GT3 or the GT3 RS. They handle so well and the exhaust sound just turns my smile dyno to 700HP.
The Turbo offers more power to be sure but the GT3 and RS n/a engines offer more personality and spine-tingling high-rpm rush vs the vacuum sound of the turbo. And those cars are typically quite a bit lighter than the turbos so the handling and braking are crisper
Really enjoyed the review thanks! I drove a 991.1 c2s pdk last month. They have depreciated around 50% from new when you include taxes. Very capable car and lots of grip due to the wide track, huge tires and redesigned suspension. It was a wonderful balance of daily driving comfort and performance. It did not make me want to sell everything for it. It cant be quite frustrating not being able to get even close to the limits on city streets.
Great video. For me the 997.2 is the right pick. The interior quality is much improved over the 997.1, you keep the hydraulic steering, manual handbrake, manual gearbox and smaller body. Get it with pccb’s but then swap the rotors for steels. That way you get the massive calipers, brake servo etc andassive rotors, but keeping the cost down :)
Jebach understandably so if that’s the case. The 991.1 will be remembered as a bit of a flawed model due to its bad steering I think. The first gen electric steering just wasn’t very good and even today I think the hydraulic steering is way better than emu electric system I’ve driven.

There's a dude here in my town in Puerto Rico that have this exact spec Turbo and a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale since brand new. His past daily was the Stradale (yeah) a 2003 $200K(in todays world) car as a daily driver for around 10 years. He get the Turbo brand new in 2014 and since then I have seen the Stradale just a few times.
@@EatSleepDrive oh yeah🤣 He's the owner of pharmacy and a clinical laboratory. My point is that he have been driving his Turbo since then, if you really gonna pull the trigger on one. Doesn't need to be a really low millage one. They're great examples for close to 100K. Porsches are like tanks unless you get a lemon one. Good luck on that, I was about to ask you. How the E92 M3 have been performing? I'm really looking to get into them but I don't know yet.
Brilliant video. Good review. I had the e93 M3 for 7 years. Brill car. You could put your foot down and enjoy it. I now have the 2016 M6 F12 competition. So. much more power than the e93 M3, but you cant plant your foot without spinning or sliding out. I cannot enjoy its full potential unless the weather is hot. . I test drove a 2014 Turbo S. Different ball game. Absolute beast. It plants itself and goes, its just crazy power. The M6 fully loaded cost me £44,000. The Turbo S, I am looking at costs £80,000. I want to sell everything for it. I would recommend anyone to try a Porsche turbo or turbo S to appreciate its warp speed performance.
It is amazing to consider the sophistication of the four wheel steering.....what’s truly remarkable is that the Honda prelude had the same capability in the late 80s
@@EatSleepDrive mechanically driven but the result was still the same approach of steering the rear wheels opposite of the front for low speed maneuvers and with the front wheels at higher speeds. That prelude was fantastic (but relatively slow). In any event - really enjoy what you do. Keep it up.
Great question. They both feel very Porsche, but the 911 is really more of a GT car. The Cayman is more of a true sports car. The mid engine layout, the size, and rear wheel drive make it feel so. The 911 is a much more refined experience. It sounds and feels way better as far as nvh, the 4 cylinder in the 718 is very rough. I'll take the 911 turbo in every scenario other than a tight twisty canyon road.
I sold 3 out of my 9 sports cars including a Porsche 993 Turbo for a Mclaren 570s....I wouldn’t trade manual cars for a pdk car again. The pdk cars, like my Mclaren, will continue to depreciate. I would make that trade for a 997 Turbo manual
Glenns Car Collection McLaren’s are notorious for horrible depreciation. I don’t know if they’ve ever fixed the reliability issues. Always looked at McLarens as lease never buy cars.
I was fortunate enough to also get to drive a 991 Turbo, albeit not as long as you did, but I got to "let her rip" and I 100% agree with you - it was utterly AMAZING and I would sell my soul to get one. Great review, great video! When are you getting one?!? :)
I hope you get a 991 because I have been wrestling with the same want. I have had a 996 and felt the same you felt wit h the 997. I work at a Penske auto mall that has a Porsche franchise. I walk by my dream car daily and can see it from my office. So hard. I hope you get one and it justifies my eventual purchase.
Yaseen Ali yeah but a 720 is a straight up exotic car, I would expect no less. This Porsche basically has the same basic shape as all of the other 911’s in the lineup. 720 is badass 👍
T Ly tbh I see the 911 turbo as an exotic car bcuz how fast it is and those sexy fender intakes. Also bcuz of how much more rare it is than the typical 911 Carrara’s U see on the streets. 1:54 not wanna sound mean, but did you have a chance to also drive a turbo without rear steering? I have watched a review of a guy who owned several porsches and he was once doing some sort of track/performance day with a bunch of other people. those people were talking the whole time about the amazing rear steering and how good it was, until my review guy noticed that all those cars in fact didnt have the rear steering option. He talked to the organizer and he was like "yeah, you are right, but please dont tell everyone, we couldnt get the ones with actual rear steering...". I do love them though ... saving weight, better acceleration, better braking, no fade ... but $$$ ... When you are at 150-200 it does actually not feel that planted on autobahn. It might have been the section I was on, but at time I felt the car was skipping sideways which made it very iffy when I was hitting 200mph. @@DoseofPrespective absolutely that's true! I think it has a pretty basic package although it does have the 20" wheels. I'm hoping they'll depreciate slightly maybe into the mid 30's soon so I can snag one at the right time 😁
PDK simplifies. Manual complicates. Pick your poison right? It's like question if you want a master chef to flambé your dinner for you or do you want to cook it yourself? Or like playing tennis do you prefer doubles(4 players) or Australian(3) because your left foot does nothing with auto
Beautiful review
There's a dude here in my town in Puerto Rico that have this exact spec Turbo and a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale since brand new. His past daily was the Stradale (yeah) a 2003 $200K(in todays world) car as a daily driver for around 10 years. He get the Turbo brand new in 2014 and since then I have seen the Stradale just a few times.
He's doing well for himself.
@@EatSleepDrive oh yeah🤣
He's the owner of pharmacy and a clinical laboratory.
The 991.2 with the 3.0 turbo is pretty sick
My E30 M3 is a classic slug in this day of age. You need to rev it hard but offers a raw drive.
It is amazing to consider the sophistication of the four wheel steering.....what’s truly remarkable is that the Honda prelude had the same capability in the late 80s
Pretty wild right? Same concept in the Prelude but much different implementation.
@@EatSleepDrive mechanically driven but the result was still the same approach of steering the rear wheels opposite of the front for low speed maneuvers and with the front wheels at higher speeds. That prelude was fantastic (but relatively slow).
In any event - really enjoy what you do. Keep it up.
I love manuals but there is something so intoxicating about a good automatic like the PDK that shifts quicker than lightning
I can't believe anybody would put lowering springs on a Porsche. That's sacrilege!
I eat ramen noddle for breakfast, lunch and dinner for my 500 horsepower Porsche Cayenne Twin Turbo. Yes, it is worth it! lol Nice 911 by the way
You forgot to mention it was rated the number 1 most feared car by cops :)
How does this compare to the 718 S you drove, notwithstanding the obvious difference in speed?
Thanks!
@@EatSleepDrive Awesome man, thanks for the explanation. You've got a new subscriber!
Love seeing some Cincinnati scenery. Know that road, love that road. Subscribed.
Cheers.
Shotgun blasts and all? LoL
Keep making more videos please. Soo entertaining
good vid. Looks like it rides too stiff being lowered. Keep up the good work man been following this channel for a while now.
Thanks man!
Great video man! Great content 👍🏼
The first time I heard you pronounce "debris", I thought you were a bit tongue in cheek, but you actually pronounce it wrong.
I just purchased a VW R32 and I've been looking for some fun driving roads in Cincy, got any spots to recommend?
Going fast on back road...! Man watch out animal....!
I drove a 991.1 pdk recently. It was fast and grip is outstanding. I missed having a manual even though pdk is faster.
McLaren's depreciate a lot maybe because they are unreliable, however you don't buy sports cars for investments hahahaha
Thank you!
Great review, I own the same car. Love the comment "warps reality“ 😂 spot on.
Thanks! 👍
Love these! I’m happy with my old AMG’s on my channel, but man I would love to drive one of these...great video +eatsleepdrive !
I hope you get a 991 because I have been wrestling
with the same want. I have had a 996 and felt the same you felt wit h the 997. I work at a Penske auto mall that has a Porsche franchise. I walk by my dream car daily and can see it from my office. So hard. I hope you get one and it justifies my eventual purchase.
One day man!
Looks like the one that sits between Kellogg Ave and Columbia Park Way.
Jeep Wilson I think he was driving on 9-mile or 10-mile road.
@@ppentertainment2351 looked like it but im pretty sute the owner of the Porsche keeps if off Kellogg ave.
I am thinking of getting one as a daily driver
Nice review
Thanks!
I don't want your "stuff".
I want that car!
Great review!
Thanks!
Might be a good time to buy now....market is favoring the buyer at the moment
Hold off on selling everything though until you can get value for it
That road looks so small for how fast that car is. The swoosh sound recordings were pretty damn epic.
T Ly 720s can eat that thing for dinner
Yaseen Ali yeah but a 720 is a straight up exotic car, I would expect no less. This Porsche basically has the same basic shape as all of the other 911’s in the lineup. 720 is badass 👍
T Ly tbh I see the 911 turbo as an exotic car bcuz how fast it is and those sexy fender intakes. Also bcuz of how much more rare it is than the typical 911 Carrara’s U see on the streets. I was just being a bitch when I said the 720 will eat this thing for dinner even tho I’m pretty sure it can lol.
I pulled over on the side of the road for this video
Thank you for not EatSleepDriving and driving..
8:55 it sounds like a jet taking off.
is there a way to do something after market to make the exhaust note sound better? any tips anyone with a 991?
As for the exhaust note...I LOVE IT!!! I had a 911.1 4s with a Fabspeed X Pipe. I found it cringy. The Turbos spooling is all I need.
The turbos act as great mufflers to reduce any raspyness, so I can see this sounding pretty damn good with an exhaust.
Are those diverter valve sounds stock, or did he mod the engine to increase that sound?
Totally stock.
Wonder if u r pronouncing debris that way in all seriousness or in jest... lol
It's a joke. A bad one, but a joke.
I was wondering as well when the second debrisss came along
Technically it’s closer to the way it’s spelled but that did take me back a bit when I heard it.
@Hee Kim And I knew it was a blatantly obvious joke from the get-go.
@@sharinglungs3226 French word, French pronunciation. If I remember my high school French correctly, to pronounce the final consonant in a French word it needs to have a vowel after it. Isn't English a great language?
Such a great car and even better with a third pedal.
Long story short: the standard steering of the turbo and 911 in general is already amazing enough, which makes me question if this several thousand dollar option is actually worth it and even noticable if you are not an experienced perforamance driver + on a high speed track
I watched his video. I can't remember his name but he's a bigger fella.
what did u do to heart the blow off
We replaced those faded buttons in our 987 boxster... for $150 :O
Great video
I might if it was a standard!
I have 996 and 997.1 Turbo and ill keep them as long as i can they are my classics :) i dont like or need the new turbos tbh
PorscheFreak the 991 is far superior in every way
What happened to the Shelby, I sold mine and have a 991.1, handling is more fun in the 911 imho
I sold mine as well. I'll likely be following in your footsteps, I love these cars.
The 991.2 is better in every way. You should give it a try... steering feel, power, handling overall, the entertainment units, PDK is quicker, et al.
Yeah, this car worth every penny.
Turbo S is a lil bit better but the Turbo still a sick buy.
I agree on the S, although, am I crazy to NOT want the centerlock wheels? They look cool, but just seem like they'd be a pain to deal with. I guess I'm one of the few people that would actually wrench on their own Turbo so maybe I'm the minority on that one.
@@EatSleepDrive agree on the center locks. I have read and heard stories that they're really a pain to take off if you don't have the proper tools.
Nope, if a guy has money to burn by all means get one. Being into expensive cars for anyone not super wealthy is the most idiotic hobby you can be into. Take up golf.
@@jeffk464 tell that to Damon Fryer or to James Condon😂😂🤷🏻♂️ look where they are now. Don't know who James Condon is? You should.
Is not and indiotic move when you can afford the cars🤷🏻♂️. You don't need to be a multi millionaire to drive a 100K car...
The center locks seem silly for a street car. We ordered our .1 Turbo S with 5-lug wheels. Great review! Maybe I’ll sell you mine :) (we’d like to get a .2 GT3RS).
Oh man drive the 991.2 Turbo S. You'd be blown away how much faster it is than the standard 991.1 Turbo
It’s mind boggling a turbo 6 cylinder outperforms most v8 muscle cars
best purchase I've ever made..
What year is this one?
Love PDK
Talking about the 997 buttons, nothing compared to Enzos revenge in ferraris.
As long as youre saving for retirement do it, but I would guess you'll buy it and sell it in a few months so in a year it won't matter. Let's go!
Nothing compares to a Porsche 911, except a Lotus Evora. 4 Wheel Steering is nothing new, Nissan’s had it it, Honda Preludes had it, Acura TLX’s have it; however when a rear engine RWD car uses 4WS the turning and physics of the car is turned on its head
Would you rather buy a 2015 Turbo with 20k miles or a 2020/2021 Carerra S w/ 10k miles - assuming equal price of around $130k ?
The 992 C2S is a pretty incredible car. I'd probably pick that. Although the turbo may hold it's value a bit better, if that's a concern for you at all.
damn I love 991
Spec is perfect
Before I even started the video. "Yes."
Sell my 2015 Nissan GT-R FBO e85 bigger injectors fuel pumps for one of these?
I ve Porsche macan turbo it's in the shop as this moment.. Don't buy if you're short on Cash not credit.
Selling everything? Nah Lotus Elise’s exist, Subaru BRZ’s, Honda S2000’s, BMW Z3’s, Nissan 370Z’s and I like my house :P
He had an Elise. He’s on a quest to smash every prom queen ...so to speak
Good review. I'd politely correct your pronunciation of debris though, if I was in your company I would. The s is silent. Debri or bebree is the way to go.
It's a joke..
What is De Briss?
Unless it’s pocket money to you, it’s a huge waste of money.
Mr Penguin Meh, I think it depends on how obsessed you are with cars. If it’s truly your ultimate passion/hobby, then perhaps it’s okay to splurge a little bit extravagantly.
Lol yeh u only live once
@@trevorphillips3922 Agreed. Cars are truly my passion and my (material) love. It's worth it to my to spurlge on a higher priced car that gives me a lot of satisfaction everyday. I have friends that spend thousands on traveling or hundreds a month at the golf course. Same thing, they spend money on the things they value the most. Some people understand, some dont
Nice car, nice review, but the owner should have spent money on an aftermarket exhaust instead of springs. It sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
Sounds like heavy breathing between shifts
Darryl Woo what if he wants to listen to his tunes? There is something about a car as fast as a jet but not incredibly loud...plus its PDK so you don't need to hear shit really.
Yes it does. I sold my AMG C63s for a 991.2 Turbo. I joke to anyone who’ll listen that it does indeed sound like a vacuum cleaner. The AMG V8 sounded liked Armageddon. But with 2 wheel drive and 510hp it made me shit my pants more than once. No such trouble with the AWD Turbo, which is quicker too. And if you ratchet up the drive mode you get some nice pops and farts on the overrun.
are they reliable?
de·bris
/dəˈbrē,ˌdāˈbrē/
Do not get the PCCB for track ... well do it ... but expect some $ to replace them ... I have had about 10 track days with my 991 Turbo S ... done 56k miles ... and now I might have to replace the discs ... I will know next service when they will do a density check ... if they are gone ... I'm looking at $25k for replacement set.
In the M5 CP I felt no issue at all hitting 195mph and that was with quite a bit cross wind. The M5 was planted while the 911 felt iffy at those speeds.
Hey...how much for those shoes? LOl, it's a Porsche the best car money can buy.
