I don't think ace cares about winning. I think ace's terminal goal is to maximize the amount of gold and stone they get and in order to do so they need to defeat the enemy sometimes.
Funny thing is red actually happened to do about everything right to counter this exact strategy by making scouts, just a few archers, scouting the whole map, raiding vills, spreading out forward TCs on neutral resources, walling off half the map, generally having lots of map control, and ultimately collecting more resources. I'm no expert but I feel like if Ace did something to distract his opponent more he could be more successful taking his gold. Build a tower in opponents base or send a couple of units to raid first, or just something to distract so his opponent can't just run out and clean up the vils. That would require delaying taking mid gold a little bit so maybe he doesn't want to
To the guy in chat who said "my mum said i have to watch the entire stream before i can do my homework" - youre the real mvp. i also hope you finished your ice cream, kid!
It's not just about the gold and stone, he is really good at dividing your attention, which is kind of a big deal when you are low elo. He does that by dropping castles and forcing the opponent to bring his army back home, which is so stressful and frustrating for the opponent and it also distracts them from focusing on raiding. Ace is good at multitasking, has usually good micro, always has a plan about his unit composition and behind all the gold and stone rush he actually keeps his economy balanced. His goal here was massing gunpowder units from the archery range and that's a legit strategy to win in imp.
Haha, it's nice to see this strategy taken to the extreme. I only play the occasional game with friends and family and also tend to save my resources at home for later, since we aren't good enough to raid the camps overly much, even if we find them. Lets me keep the safe gold for when there are multiple players out on the map in force. I don't take all the camps at once, though.
I'd agree if it wasn't for the fact Red only quit AFTER he lost the engagement with the hand cannons. Should've focused all his military on Ace's Base.

For how much criticism you give it, the logic of his strategy is pretty sound: Send villagers for farther resources first while the enemies use their home resources -> Later in the game, you still have starting resources to mine, and enemy doesn't have as much neutral resource to claim
Under 1-1,2k yes, the logic can work but after that you'd get behind in res due to the idle time and multiple mining camps, therefore the opponent would have more res on the table to use against you and either: A) raid you to death in feudal, especially if the opponent realizes you are sending villages away he will totally pick them out. Or B) get fast castled to death. And not like red did here, I mean going straight for the throat: double stable knights or double archery xbows and basically control all the map. Even if the opponent isn't that cutthroat, they will be good at not idling the TC, which is one of the thing that made Ace stay competitive in this game: he could lose vils and still be even because it's opponent wasn't good at keeping the TC producing. Adding to what JoKad said, the resources you get at the start of the game are worth more than the resources you get later, because they give you more options: the faster you get gold, the faster you can either go with a Fast build, or react to your opponent doing the same.
