Thanks for watching.
To the 40 year old - I feel ya man. I'm 42, had an itch to ride bikes since I was a young teen. My folks flat out refused while I was under their roof. Got into cars in the mean time, drag raced for many years. I was happy with that but the bike itch never quite went away. Fast forward to now, I'm happily married with two young kids. No longer race and cars aren't doing it for me so much. Spoke to my missus about getting my licence, she was tentative about it. I bought all the safety gear first, started studying the theory and watching youtube vids etc. Now she's got cold feet and is completely against it. She's never asked much from me, but she really has a fear about something happening and me being taken away from the kids. Trying to talk her round but it's a tough one, I'm not going to flat out go against her, we've been together nigh on 20 years - but she doesn't understand the desire to ride, or that I'll take all precautions to be safe. Watch this space I guess, keep you're fingers crossed for me fellas! Hope you get your situation sorted.
Thanks Goblin, enjoying your channel man. All the best and keep safe, Tommy

My ex wife told me to buy a car when the kids were born....I came home with a sidecar fitted to the bike😂....that's why she's an ex wife now 🤣🤣🤣
First thing a man in that situation should do is grow a pair, then go buy a bike a ride.
I rode 16-20. Got a car and met my wife. She has always been very anti bike. 30 years later I wanted a bike again but I knew how she felt and wasn't just going to buy one.
So I started by watching some bike shows on TV and getting the magazine and floating the idea over a few months.
We had some strong discussions about it.
I suggested I take some training to see if I still liked the idea of it before buying anything. Got some basic gear and did that.
Then I did some more training a few months later on bigger bikes. ( Passed my test 30 year ago).
I said I still liked it and wanted to get a bike. Explained I would get all the best safety gear including an airbag vest. I explained it's for leisure only and I would ride local to start with abs break her in gently to the idea.
she then agreed for me to get a bike.
That was a year ago. I have done 4.5k miles just having fun.
She is still very worried everytime I go out. But is getting better at it.
I also totally respect her point of view and how it makes her feel.
As time goes on I will ride further and maybe do a track day etc but I am not pushing it.
If handled badly these things can really be a bad point in a relationship. Both ways.
If I just buy it say tough. That shows I don't care about her feelings and fears.
If she said flat NO. That would fester over time.
So my advice is take your time, float the idea with no rush to get it. Be respectful and discuss your concerns on both sides. Agree on a compromise in how often and how far you will ride. Slowly expand the comfort zone.
Makes for a happier life and you get to keep it all.
To the 40-year-old guy whose wife had forbidden him from getting a motorcycle and is now granting him “permission” with a side of extreme guilt, he should tell her that he doesn’t want to find himself resenting her in the future for not allowing him to make his own decisions about things that he wants to do before he’s too old to do them. I’ll bet she wasn’t making those kinds of demands before he put that ring on her finger.
A wife is for Christmas a motorcycle is for life
Nick Sanders took his R1 around the Globe...
I just did it. No choice. I took care of everything and boom. Like that. No hassle.
I'm 41, I've never had a wife, that's WHY I bought my first bike, to be more attractive lol.
All I'll say is I've gotten more attention in this last year than the previous 40.
Hmmm ,if you don’t get the bike because your wife girlfriend etc won’t let you then the relationship is doomed ,you will resent her eventually.I’m in my 50’s had bikes as a teenager, up to 250cc ,did my DAS a year ago and the police safety course ,and my wife hated bikes but I got one anyway ,she’s fine with it now ,even though she will never get on one which is fair enough .If you’ve been driving cars for decades then. You will be fine ,as you get older you become more nervous about things and more sensible .Spend the first few months on short trips and getting used to being on two wheels .if it comes down to choosing the wife or the bike ,then get the bike ..
My first bike was a 650 Interceptor from RE and I swapped it for a Triumph Tiger recently.
Love the Tiger but I will never forgive myself for selling my first bike that I customised so well with big bore exhausts, YSS shocks etc.
Get the bike..
Women come and go..
Family will always do what they want but expect you to put your dreams on hold..
Best thing I ever did was get my bike test done....
Had a few bikes..Been knocked off a couple of times..Had a few offs in horrendous weather..Even fell off balance once whilst still and broke my shoulder...
I'm all bashed up now but I wouldn't change it for the world and still ride a bike now all over peak district cat fiddle snake pass..
It's the best feeling in the world and sets your soul free..Ride a bike for a hour and clears your head and you feel at peace with the world...
Definitely do it...
Do the tour and find out. Things might be easier if oyu get the same bike, but assuming you will use the bike more often outside of the trip, buy the bike you want and need for that.
Don't ask her.
Just go ahead & buy one and go ride, easier to ask for forgiveness than permission..😄
dude on he john deere was looking right at the bike when he hit it. Sportbike will absolutely murder you on dirt roads. Yellowstone is 50% dirt roads. The difference being the wheel loading. Sports are more front balanced or 50/50, Cruisers are more rear weighted.
I rode alot, til I had kids...then I focused on the kids and sold the bikes...now that they are grown, I own 3 bikes...sometimes you just need to grow up for a few years and be responsible, and THEN...get back to being a kid....but with money. 8-)
Im a single bachelor on gen 1 zzr1400 and i dont really understand something.
Why the hell do you need permission to ride a motorbike?
I would literally scoff if she tries to stop me Riding and ignore her.
I cant see the screen capture text too small
45 No kids never married only date woman who like or ride bike's. If they ever do say stop riding. GOODBYE.
I told mine I was getting one. Or two ;).
You've already had to put up with a women run school system, women run governement, woman run HR at work.
Don't let it happen to your household as well!
I love my wife and daughters but womens lib was total cringe.
