    That was class of them to mention Nick Massi. He was responsible for arranging their glorious harmonies behind Frankie's soaring lead vocals until 1965. A very underrated musical genius and fantastic melodic bass player too. R.I.P Nick Massi and now Tommy Devito and Joe Long. Long live the Jersey Boys 🎸

    Great to hear Frankie pay tribute to Nick Massi. All through these years, the original Four have been my favorite pop group, and Nick's contribution was a huge part of my admiration for their recordings. Don't get me wrong - it took a minute, but I came to love Joe Long, and appreciate him as a 'real' Season. We shared a couple of phone calls when he lived here in Las Vegas, and planned to hang for a bit, but it wasn't to be. HOW I love these guys!

    I was born and raised in Red Bank, New Jersey and was honored to be a professional musician for 17 years which were one of the best times of my life. I worked for the Garden State Parkway at 19 years old and left in 1978 to join the Navy where I spent 17.3 years and retired in 1995 as a Legalman 1st Class Petty Officer. My last gig was with Nicky Addeo who sang for Danny Di Veto's birthday party and who is still working today and has made a name for himself and appears on RUclips. To see Frankie and the Four Seasons inducted in the NJ Hall of Fame, makes me so very happy that another one of the many talents has come from the State I was born and raised in. I offer my my undying love for you and The Four Seasons. May Peace, love and togetherness follow you for all of the days of your lives.

    • @ScrewballMcAdams
      @ScrewballMcAdams Год назад +1

      @@MikeCee7 Long was just a stage name. Not sure if anyone knows why he used “Long” and not something more Italian. But what a great bass player and showman he was! And a very kind soul as well.

    • @MikeCee7
      @MikeCee7 Год назад +2

      @@ScrewballMcAdams Thanks for the info. Seems odd, that he would choose a plain generic sounding non-Italian surname, when all four & in their manager all have Italian last names.
      (I mean that’s one step away from using the surname of “Smith”)
      -
      I can understand Dean Martin, & Tony Bennett, changing their given Italian surnames, because they were solo artist.
      And also, they became famous significantly earlier than The Four Seasons, so times were a little bit different back then.
      -
      I only knew of the 4-seasons from the 1970s & onwards. (whenever the “Oh what a night” song came out)
      -
      Sounds like you’re you’re a big fan of them.
      but I now rewatch this video (from when I posted on this several months ago)
      At 3:52, did Frankie Valli get shorter? (or did the other two members get really taller?)
      At the 2:28 (& more so at 2:54) clip, Frankie doesn’t appear that much drastically shorter than the other band members were.

    • @ScrewballMcAdams
      @ScrewballMcAdams Год назад +2

      @@MikeCee7 Like most older folks, Frankie does indeed appear to be shrinking. I’ve been a Seasons fan ever since Sherry was released. I was about 12 y.o. then. While I was saddened when Nick Massie left the band, I felt Joe Long’s stage persona and superb bass playing (I saw them live many, many times) really elevated the band. I was so disappointed when they replaced him. A few years before Joe left the Seasons I spoke with him via telephone (arranged by a mutual friend). I was struggling with a major career decision and he gave me some really good advice. He also revealed that when he wasn’t working with the Seasons he sold life insurance as a side hustle.
      A few years ago I emailed him to tell him how important his advice had been, to update him on my career choice and to thank him for setting me straight. He still remembered me and our phone call and the advice he’d given me years before. He said he was living in Vegas at that time and if I was ever out there I should look him up. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I never did. But I am forever indebted to Joe Long for helping me make the most important decision of my life. He was a warm, friendly, down to earth guy with a heart of gold. RIP Joe Labracio.

    What sucks about life is.....getting old and becoming frail. I look at bands such as T4S, how they've aged and it just upsets me that life is like this. One minute they are young and have a great life and next....well age creeps up and takes it all away. Oh, they can still sing as they did and their shows aren't as enegertic, but the magic of those yester years seem to wash away their old looking exteriors and for a brief time, it's the 50s, 60s and 70s all over again. Thank you T4S for all the music you wrote and performed which makes up a lot of my life fabric. You'll always be young whenever I watch videos of your earlier years. Thank you!

The 4 Tops are a vocal group, which I enjoy very much, but Valli DeVito Gaudio Massi Long are a self contained BAND and one of the most successful musical entities today, own the rights to just about everything they have produced. Is this a Mistake at 2:28?
    They only sold “One” million records?
    That’s gotta be a mistake.
    I mean, even someone like Tiffanie has sold 1 million records, of her cover of the Tommy James song “I think We’re Alone Now”
    And when Bon Jovi (from New Jersey) was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll, Hall of Fame. Howard Stern (who inducted Bon Jovi), kept on dwelling of how they sold 130 million records.

Joe Long, Gerry Polci, Bob Crewe and others were a huge part of their successes - and should have been given credit for that.
