Wow! Did not recognize Joe Long! But so great so see him up there with Frankie & Bob again after he was forced out of the group in 1975 just when Who Loves You gave them their comeback after 8 years. And 2 years later, we lost Joe too. I had the pleasure of interviewing Frankie & Bob in '87 for American Top 40 with Casey Kasem & they were so generous with their time & very honest.
Not to forget John Paiva, who came from "The Platters" and "The Happenings", sang and played the Guitar in 1975/76 on their #3 hit "Who Loves You" and #1 hit "December 1963"
It’s really great to see Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, and Joe Long (Joe LaBracio), Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi inducted here! I LOVE ALL OF THEIR MUSIC! I’m 56, and grew up with this band’s music which is a big part of the soundtrack to my life.
Pushing 60 and listen to this band day and night. Their entire catalog is just amazing and not like any catalog of music I have ever heard. You can listen to various bands and their entire out put and you know it’s them but with Valli and Seasons everything is so different and unique.
@@MikeCee7 Long was just a stage name. Not sure if anyone knows why he used “Long” and not something more Italian. But what a great bass player and showman he was! And a very kind soul as well.

While I was saddened when Nick Massie left the band, I felt Joe Long’s stage persona and superb bass playing (I saw them live many, many times) really elevated the band. I was so disappointed when they replaced him. A few years before Joe left the Seasons I spoke with him via telephone (arranged by a mutual friend). During the great 60's,70's, and 80's the 4 Seasons colored the entire landscape of great music. With all the accolades they get, they're still the most under appreciated groups of all time.

Born a Jersey boy and will always be! Frankie Valli is 84 now and was 81 at this Award ceremony. I have to say he looks tight & together for a guy that age. He's got some good genes.
FYI - Frankie Valli and the Four Season was the name used(during the early 70’s)post Four Season(original members). They’re the ones who performed “Oh What A Night”, “Who Loves You”. They are not the ones being inducted. The original members, plus Joe Long are.
This is great, but Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons should have been inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame much sooner. Who else but Frank Sinatra, were more famous than them?
Bruce Springsteen, Queen Latifa, Whitney Houston are all great stars. But not as great as Supergroup Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. They were the first group to have 3 # 1 hits in a row; they were America's main challenge to Beatlemania and the British Invasion of 1964 and they had more hits and sold more records than any artist of the 1960s except for the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
These guys are living legends and are one of the most successful bands in music history. Oh and yes BANDS!!!! They were self contained, did their own writing and played their own instruments. I say this because at times they are referred to as a vocal group. The 4 Tops are a vocal group, which I enjoy very much, but Valli DeVito Gaudio Massi Long are a self contained BAND and one of the most successful musical entities today, own the rights to just about everything they have produced. Can’t say that about Elvis or the Beatles or Beach Boys or many other top bands.
Why can't you say it about the beach boys? The 4 seasons had at least 50 people drift in and out of the group as members. The beach boys for the most part kept the same 5 guys throughout their lifespan
RIP the three members of The Four Seasons Nick Massi (September 19, 1927 - December 24, 2000), aged 73 Tommy DeVito (June 19, 1928 - September 21, 2020), aged 92 Joe Long (September 5, 1932 - April 21, 2021), aged 88 You will be remembered as legends.
While I loved their songs, I never thought Valli was the best. He was not a performer/entertainer, he was just a singer. He was not even good looking. There were many others who were much better artists. Sorry.
Thanks to Tommy James for inducting the Four Seasons, and to Frankie Valli for presenting Nick Massi in absentia. Glad to see inducted this great band!
I met Bob a few times, over the years. The last time was when I hosted him and Judy when they attended Blue Man Group, when I worked there in VIP Svcs. He was gracious and kind - Judy took a pic of us, and Bob comped me into Jersey Boys, which was playing just down the hall.
I have two of his albums - more if you count "The Bob Crewe Generation" LPs. I agree with you 100% about the value of his contributions to music. I've been a fan since "La Dee Dah" by Billy and Lillie.
We are celebrating Don's birthday, Feb 28, 1946, together with my fellow Plainfield H.S. bandmate, Jeff Cordiano. Jeff thanks for the heads up on You Tube.
That was very nice and nostalgic. The group certainly deserved this. I keep wondering if Joe Long, was the fellow that had the big afro and the bushy beard that was playing guitar and singing on the left in a few of their videos ?
I can't believe it's taken this long ,if done much sooner they could have all been there ..I'm guessing the one with glasses was the one who had dark hair and the other is the one who had the beard ..where was the drummer ?
Brian Sam - hear, hear .... not only was Nick Massi an exceptional & underrated bass player, but was so instrumental in arranging those extraordinary & signature background harmonies . I was also glad Frankie acknowledged him. Long live The 4 Seasons !
@@tgguitarguy Nick Massi Never said that!!!!! Nick did come back for one song "HICKORY" in 1974. We had Joe Long, Nick Massi, Lee Shapiro, Gerry Polci working together at one time!!!!!! Frankie Valli sang lead.
@@tgguitarguy It was the opinion of the writer to make his story. Not anything of fact. Nick is dead and can't speak for himself, so the writer made the character say what the writer wanted. Nick did work with the band off and on after he left. Joe Long carrried on doing Nicks job for the next 10 years. The movie missed alot!!!!! And added too much B.S..
Is this a Mistake at 2:28? They only sold “One” million records? That’s gotta be a mistake. I mean, even someone like Tiffanie has sold 1 million records, of her cover of the Tommy James song “I think We’re Alone Now” And when Bon Jovi (from New Jersey) was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll, Hall of Fame. Howard Stern (who inducted Bon Jovi), kept on dwelling of how they sold 130 million records.
@ Wow; after you said that, I went back & Re-Listened, & I now thought it said “1 billion” as Will, and then re-listening again and now it’s alternated between the “1 million” and “1 billion” etc. But the CC subtitles say “1 million”. (which is way too low.)
At 3:52, did Frankie Valli get shorter? (or did the other two members get really taller?) At the 2:28 (& more so at 2:54) clip, Frankie doesn’t appear that much drastically shorter than the other band members were?
Frankie valli looks like an older Al Pacino lol. I'm a 26 year old millennial and I fucking love their music. Always thought I was born in the wrong decade. The way ppl are today with their cell phones, social media, the trash music, etc makes me sad. So disconnected from one another. Thank you franki v and the 4 seasons!!!
Is this a joke? They only got inducted in 2017? They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990! They should have been first into the New Jersey Hall, when the Hall started. What is he, 83 in this video?
Did I hear the announcer correctly? They had 50 hits, but only sold one million albums? . . Vanilla Ice, only had one hit, but sold a lot more than one million albums.
I was honored to befriend Denny Randell, and share a lot of memories with him. He asked me what I thought of "Jersey Boys" when it came to Las Vegas. I told him, "It wasn't the play I would have written, but how could I not enjoy the experience?" Joe Long, Gerry Polci, Bob Crewe and others were a huge part of their successes - and should have been given credit for that.
With all due respect the Beatles went on to solo carreers that out numbered the 4 seasons amount of songs they themselves produced. Rolling Stones out lasted 4 seasons . Beatles should not even be mentioned in this award ceremony.the Beatles are in a class of itself

Thanks to Tommy James for inducting the Four Seasons, and to Frankie Valli for presenting Nick Massi in absentia. Glad to see inducted this great band!
Awesome of Frankie to give respect to Nick!
These guys are up there with the Beatles elvis and the rest total class
Bello y precioso momento❤
A group of 4 band members that performed without a drummer. Yet when you listen to their music, you can hear the drums.
Bob Gaudio, the best!
I met Bob a few times, over the years. The last time was when I hosted him and Judy when they attended Blue Man Group, when I worked there in VIP Svcs. He was gracious and kind - Judy took a pic of us, and Bob comped me into Jersey Boys, which was playing just down the hall.
Don't forget about the late Bob Crewe whose contributions to music cannot be overstated! Although not a performer, he did everything else!
I have two of his albums - more if you count "The Bob Crewe Generation" LPs. I agree with you 100% about the value of his contributions to music. I've been a fan since "La Dee Dah" by Billy and Lillie.
Hope they come back and add John Pavia, Lee Shaprio, Gerry Polci, And the late Don Ciccone!!!! The New Four Seasons.
Totally agree!
We are celebrating Don's birthday, Feb 28, 1946, together with my fellow Plainfield H.S. bandmate, Jeff Cordiano. Jeff thanks for the heads up on You Tube.
Majorly agree with that!
Gerry Polci has his own band called the hit men which I believe also includes Lee Shapiro
The new four seasons get cycled out constantly
I was intrigued by the movie Jersey Boys
I've loved them since before they were the Four Seasons, early on they were the Four Lovers. And they were the 4 lovers before 1960.
Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
Why did it take until 2017, to be inducted into the 10th annual NJ HOF?
this is a great group
That was very nice and nostalgic. The group certainly deserved this. I keep wondering if Joe Long, was the fellow that had the big afro and the bushy beard that was playing guitar and singing on the left in a few of their videos ?
I believe you are referring to Don Ciconne who has since passed. He was with the Four Seasons band from the early 1970’s thru the early 80’s,
I can't believe it's taken this long ,if done much sooner they could have all been there ..I'm guessing the one with glasses was the one who had dark hair and the other is the one who had the beard ..where was the drummer ?
How well deserved is that? Wow!!!
TheJersey Boys will always bring black all my old memories
I'm glad Nick Massi was acknowledged by Frankie Valli.
Brian Sam - hear, hear .... not only was Nick Massi an exceptional & underrated bass player, but was so instrumental in arranging those extraordinary & signature background harmonies . I was also glad Frankie acknowledged him. Long live The 4 Seasons !
""When there's four guys in a band, and you're Ringo......"
@@tgguitarguy Nick Massi Never said that!!!!! Nick did come back for one song "HICKORY" in 1974. We had Joe Long, Nick Massi, Lee Shapiro, Gerry Polci working together at one time!!!!!! Frankie Valli sang lead.
@@eugeneschulte4950 His character does in Jersey Boys. That's one of his lines at the end.
I mean, even someone like Tiffanie has sold 1 million records, of her cover of the Tommy James song “I think We’re Alone Now”
And when Bon Jovi (from New Jersey) was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll, Hall of Fame. Howard Stern (who inducted Bon Jovi), kept on dwelling of how they sold 130 million records.
I thought he said one billion but that can't be right either
@ Wow; after you said that, I went back & Re-Listened, & I now thought it said “1 billion” as Will, and then re-listening again and now it’s alternated between the “1 million” and “1 billion” etc. But the CC subtitles say “1 million”. (which is way too low.)
is Gerri polci still around. to me the best voice in the group
Yes. He has his own band called the hit men which also features Lee Shapiro
A legend and played Rusty a character on the hit show The Sopranos
Muchos besos mi querido Franki Valli
Thank you joe Pesci for introducing bob to the rest of the gang
Six_pathz88 - Tommy James of Tommy James and The Shondells did the honors
@@joeyricci7168 who was the other gentleman?
La vida es bella, estés en la situación en que estés. Dios es demasiado bueno.❤
At 3:52, did Frankie Valli get shorter? (or did the other two members get really taller?) At the 2:28 (& more so at 2:54) clip, Frankie doesn’t appear that much drastically shorter than the other band members were?
Member Tommy DeVito, 92 died today Coronavirus RIP
Sad to hear this.
RIP Tommy and Nick ❤️❤️❤️
Frankie valli looks like an older Al Pacino lol. I'm a 26 year old millennial and I fucking love their music. Always thought I was born in the wrong decade. The way ppl are today with their cell phones, social media, the trash music, etc makes me sad. So disconnected from one another. Thank you franki v and the 4 seasons!!!
Some would argue that our cell phones actually bring us together. Two schools of thought.
Those are talented, quality men.
Nice statement, but not necessary to use the f word.
@@maddyhayes617 One could argue that it's the spice in the recipe?
Is this a joke? They only got inducted in 2017? They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990! They should have been first into the New Jersey Hall, when the Hall started. What is he, 83 in this video?
Why is Joe LaBracio’s name Joe Long? (he wanted to be the “odd man out” with a non-Italian surname?)
legends , why didnt it dawn on New Jersey to induct them many years earlier DUHHHHHH
I think Dawn had gone away for a few decades?
10th year! What took so long? They should have been in the first year.
Why did it take so long ...
Where's the thanks for Gerry Polci? He sang their biggest song.
Tommy James was great too.
Did I hear the announcer correctly? They had 50 hits, but only sold one million albums? . .
Vanilla Ice, only had one hit, but sold a lot more than one million albums.
Go Jersey Philly loves ya
I am heart broken that neither Bob Crew not Gerry Polci were not mentioned/.
TodosSonMuyBuenosPeroNadaMejorKlosOrijinalesAmoSuMusica
Good for them. They deserve it. But Mark Ballas needs to work on his presentation skills - that was so robotic.
Ohh what a night
Over one million records? More like over one HUNDRED million records!
IK,R??? That script writer needs to be jailed!!!
Where is Gerry Polci?
Don Ciccone. You’re missed
With all due respect the Beatles went on to solo carreers that out numbered the 4 seasons amount of songs they themselves produced. Rolling Stones out lasted 4 seasons . Beatles should not even be mentioned in this award ceremony.the Beatles are in a class of itself
This is one of the best press conference Trump has given !!!

Who is Joe Long (soz I don't have a clue who he is)?
