I just put Xpel Ppf on my car.. now contemplating if I should get the Xpel Paint Protection Sealant for the maintenance of the film. Can't seem to find any vids about it.
How do you maintain a PPF film that has a ceramic coating with a daily (or every other day) quick detailer to get rid of dust and bug guts? Do you have any recommendations?
Agree and agree with all your tips. For the cost factor, PPF is a bit expensive as some say they can repaint for less. Problem with that logic is matching paint colors over time is a larger headache. And for those nonbelievers PPF is great as I run it on both my vehicles.
If you have a ceramic coat in top of the PPF, can I use a touchless wash, or is the PPF still at risk? You mentioned the high pressure of the touchless wash might be too much, but recommend a touchless wash for ceramic coating.
I appreciate the attention to detail. Thank you! Although, I'm in the Houston area. Do you know anyone down here that takes as good of care as y'all do up there? I've got the same Tesla on order.
Is there a wait time between installation of PPF and ceramic coating? I'm assuming the ceramic coating would prevent or delay evaporation of water/soap from under the PPF?
Is it safe to use car pro bug out remover on a PPF with ceramic coating? And whats the maximum time you can leave those bugs on the front end before you have to clean them...like i do a lot evening and night driving so is it okay to leave them on the car for 12-24 hours before getting a chance to clean them out without having to worry about the PPF all the time !
I try to get bugs off within 24h. A detailed I trust suggested a bottle of distilled water with a drop of pH balanced shampoo. Wet microfiber, sit on nastiest bug guts for a minute. It's gentle, leaves nothing behind and gets off 95% of bugs.
Do you have suggestions on a detailing process for ppf (specifically XPEL). Polishing is not recommended, clay bar’ing seems to be the go to, is there anything else you would suggest to pull out contamination before sealing/coating?
Mechanical decontamination can be done with Gyeon PPF Renew (or a similar product) on a finishing foam pad, and a chemical decontamination can be done with a good quality fallout and iron remover
Do you get swirl marks over time ? I have a black car and have started receiving swirl marks in 2 months. I have a self healing 190micron ppf. And I use turtle wax sealant every month once
Great video! If we put ceramic coating on top of PPF and the coating runs off in a couple of years, is polishing needed before redoing the coating like what people normally do for cars without PPF and would the polishing damage the PPF?
Thank you so much for this video, it helps a lot! I’m thinking to get my truck wrapped in stealth and take it off road, how does it hold up against normal pinstripes/trail scratches?(The trail has some narrow parts with bushes on the side)
I am on the fence with clear (gloss) vs steatlh (satin). I love how great gloss looks but it reflects a lot of light and the edges are not as noticeable. I am going to add a body kit, and I feel the stealth will reveal the lines better and show up better.
Can you recommend a way to maintain the ppf after it has been on for 2 years and the coating pizzas has dulled? What decontamination steps can we do that will not hurt the ppf before we add a new coating or a topper? Is Iron decontamination too strong? Thank you for sharing your expertise. It is very generous of Chicago Auto crew. We, the people, do appreciate you!
What’s the difference between using the xpel ppf cleaner and xpel detailing spray for cleaning xpel PPF coated with ceramic. The website says the detailing spray is okay on their fusion ceramic coat but the Xpel PPF cleaner doesn’t say safe to use on ceramic coating… so I guess my question is when yo use what in my situation where I have xpel stealth ppf coated with xpel fusion plus. Any help would be appreciated!
Hello, thank you for you videos. I believe you mentioned that there are two choices of PPF: glossy and matte. Can I have a ceramic coating applied to a matte PPF or is it only for glossy PPFs? Please advise. Thanks
Just saw this comment now, but yes it 100% will. CSU is for paint only, it isn’t a flexible coating at all once applied. When applied onto ppf it hardens and makes it so the ppf isn’t nearly as flexible making it so that once you get scratches it can’t self heal anymore, I would recommend using Halo since it’s specifically marketed for vinyl and ppf, was watching this video and noticed he put CSU on the ppf and I immediately went to the comments to see if anyone else noticed
Just got my Model 3 and going to put a ceramic coating on it! With this paint being soft and having light scratches what pad and compound/polish should i use? (M205 and white pad?)
I think i have a really interesting thing for you, can U take a kokpit spray and put it on a towel and then on the paint, buff it off good and let us see the water beading. It will be really fun to see the outcome and also be sure to use uv resistant.
You guys need to give an overview for the best way to maintain microfiber and plush buffing/drying towels. That'd be helpful. Not many detailers discuss it. Also cleaning polishing pads, microfiber, wool and foam (all though foam is basically rinse and dry unless you have other tips)
Thanks for the great video. If my car is under the hot sun every single day, would you recommend getting a ppf or a vinyl wrap or is it better off leaving it with the bare paint?
Can a PPF wrapped car handle an auto car wash? I know PPF isn’t a force field, but curious to know if it gets scratched up by brushes or if those scratches will “self heal”. I’m thinking that if it can’t handle a car wash then I worry that it can’t hold up to regular environmental conditions and road debris that are encountered during normal driving.
When mani got his his first gt, they said wait to get it paint protected. Cause the paint was new. My question is on normal cars and maybe super cars, how long do you wait to get it paint protected. Cause the paint has to breathe and everything
Factory paint is baked and will have cured and gassed out by the time it has left the assembly line. That is particularly true for supercars that are hand-built and spend even more time on the assembly line compared to mass produced cars. So it should 100% safe to PPF a car as soon as it is delivered.
Watch how you say that from my understanding here in Toronto with the insurance industry , if you are involved in a accident ... They will only pay for the PPF if you have told them about it otherwise its out of pocket cost to you again
@Chicago Auto Pros - If I don't have a garage to keep my car away from the sun and the elements every day, do you then recommend keeping the car protected with a car cover every day, or every other day, etc? Or is that not even necessary?
@@ChicagoAutoPros I found a piece of hair under my PPF. The installer said he would try to remove it (its in the middle of the front bumper so may be difficult) or rip the entire piece off and install it again. Is this something, I should just live with or have him fix it?
I just bought a 2022 MDX and Im on the fence about PPF and Ceramic pro gold.
