SAUCONY ENDORPHIN ELITE - Long Run Shoe Test - The BEST & MOST VERSATILE SHOE of 2023? | EDDBUD
Today I tested the SAUCONY ENDORPHIN ELITE over an 13 mile or 22 km ish distance in some dry and still conditions with around 8c temps.
Lots of steady paced miles today as i build the weekly mileage up. Got to balance out the effort as best you can so i threw in some faster blasts towards the end.
I discuss the upper, midsole and outsole performance on what is a switch up route with extra elevation for me on a longer run.
Overall a very worthy inclusion to the super shoe rotation, this is a shoe that has been sent to me by SAUCONY though they are not vetting my views before you my valued views see them.

I just ran my PR at Berlin marathon in these. They definitely don’t have the best grip on slick roads, but they definitely help your legs go when they are completely shot. My legs felt less beat up in the endorphin pro 3, but these help a lot more when your legs need some help imo.
I've been debating these vs pro 3's for Chicago. My concern is the elite are too firm for the distance. I haven't put enough miles in them to confirm.
Will def be getting them when on sale.
Wasn't going to bother but your appreciation of this shoe has me intrigued.
It love it so far 👍🏼
Definitely agree with incorporating these on some training runs before competitive use even if you’re used to Speedroll. I’ve personally taken them on 18-20 mile long runs with 4x3.2 mile(5km) intervals, as part of the fall marathon prep. Loving them.
Will do something along these lines up to 15 miles next week. Such bounce without the instability.
The watch prediction of 1:28 sounds very promising and especially if you're able to hit sustained runs either side of race pace it's looking good. If you do manage to get a tune up race (5/10k) in within the next 10 days and it's pretty much inline with the watch, then I see no reason why you won't claim the elusive sub 90. He who dares wins! 🚀🚀🚀
Just need to stay fit now. Ant E bi ot ics.
@@EDDBUD Don't take it to a chemist, it's not a prescription.
love them! just throws your foot forward! 🚀
Yes very smooth yet propulsive shoe
Ed train to this on a continuous loop...and your times will fall
Good luck and as always
Keep up the good work
Much appreciated
1:28 at Manchester will be a great time Edd. Good luck!
Will give it a shot. Best fitness I have ever had. Lots of threshold work this week.
Love the honesty with your reviews mate
Much appreciated
I will probably buy another pair of these next year. Tried the shoes a few times and I really like it. Fast and aggressive with enough protection of your legs and feet. I'm considering this for my future marathon race..
I love the upper. It’s like a speed sandal. Just stays out the way of the midsole.
Ok now I want a pair. Didnt really gel with the Endorphin Pro 3s but loved the Pro 1 and Pro 2
Lots of bounce in the elite
Thanks EDDBUDD, I've not seen a review of this shoe that likens it to the feel of the Metaspeed Sky+. I ran a HM in the Metaspeed Sky+ last year and found it suited me well, although the 5mm drop took a little bit of adjustment. I really like my Pro 3, so the Elite might bridge the 2 shoes. I never run with earbuds as I like to hear cars coming, but also I like to experience the environment around me.
Yes it’s somewhere in the middle of those two.
Recently got a pair off ebay for £150. Willbe testing them out for the Leicester half next weekend.
Find almost nothing to dislike about these
You going to do a shakeout in Manchester Ed before the race? If so I recommend Worsley Woods parkrun as I live close by 😅
Absolutely! Will let you know near the time.
Great review and thoughtful warning re taking time with a very different shoe. Sometimes these fast shoes are hard to resist using more frequently than is wise. 👍🏻Always appreciate the Neil Young respect!
Interesting the winning shoe in the ladies event was not quite the shoe people have been getting excited over. More of a road like Adios pro 3 outsole on that one! Loving the elite though
I recently got a HM PR in the Elites (1:29) and will be wearing them in 2 weeks’ time at Chicago. Love them so far but will see how they are at the longer distance
These seem just as durable as any other super shoes so far
That shoe is a real Green Machine
There’s nothing greener!
@@EDDBUD if the Hulk was a pair of shoes
Foam comparison: FF Turbo, Lightstrike Pro, PWRRUN HG
It’s very close to the ff turbo. Similar is an understatement
Can’t fathom running with headphones. Love contact with every part of the environment- a major reason I run. Thanks, again, for helpful review. Comments re downhill runs especially helpful. Thinking of a Marathon with a downhill drift and that’s gonna be tough on quads in all events. Don’t want shoes that might compound that.
Sometimes for reps etc I want music to drive me along. Otherwise I do like earbuds with a mic to pull in the outside noise too
epic video ed, when are we gonna get a long run test for the lidl shoes?
In good time
If I forget my headphones I run back.
I run in the Vaporfly 2 now. Considering 3 shoes as new Race Day shoe ( triathlete over 70.3 )
1- Alphafly 3
2- Saucony Elite
3- Vaporfly 3
What would you pick.
I am pleased with your assessment. It very much matches what my thoughts are on these shoes. I think you do have to work them in, and use them tactically. I liked them so much it was like a sugar addiction, and I may have actually ran too hard a few times. So I agree totally with knowing your pacing strategy when using them. You can do lower pace running with them, but it's really a waste of these shoes. These are not at the top of the list wear wise so burning easy miles on them really just doesn't seem economical for me. I would love to find them on sale. I would load up. After hearing your comments on the Asics Meta Sky + being similar, I may need to try a pair of those to mix in. I like a lot of different shoes for different reasons so mix in a few. I wish I were able to appreciate the Adidas shoes more, but they just don't seem to fit me as well. In my fleeting youth when I could run in the 2:35 range (26,2) I was using Asics all the way (the GT 2000 series in the 1980"s). These elites feel a lot like those used to. So maybe the meta sky would be close as well ? I don't mind soft when doing recovery, but prefer responsive, and non obtrusive shoes. I don't like to notice them too much. Just like to run !
Yes this one is a less noticeable shoe when running strangely which is the opposite of what I thought it would be.
Yeah buddy
I use the 4.6x for 5km to Half.....if you're 1:28, you should be doing about 19:10 for a 5 clicker.
I’m not even close to the estimate. Bit fittest I’ve been. So will see what I can do. Gotta stick to the threshold zone closely this time out.
I got 2 runs in these, felt responsive and stiff in a cushy way(FF turbo like 👍) u need to be on your good days. Cannot do slow, long runs with it...
Was fine for me doing that
❤
🥉
Confessing to jaywalking on camera, huh? 😂
Might not even be illegal in Britain to walk/run on the road, I don't know.
Looking forward to your shoe selection video for Manchester. Sounds like this one would be a top contender.
No issues doing that here. Especially in town devoid of action as described.
So many have said this is not good for slower folks. Would you agree?
It may make going slower harder. Does that make sense?!
Hello
Literally every fastest run I have done (race/TT) has been without headphones. 😂 still too expensive for us mere mortals 😢
They are at last coming down a bit.
At least they have more durability than the adidas evo, since they require some adaptation time during training 😂
I did laugh at the “familiarisation” time 🤣👍🏼
Edd if you were to choose for the best versatile running shoes between the Elite Rocket x2 and Metaspeed sky plus which would you choose?
Thank youuu!
The rocket is more usable from a day to day perspective.
Is it more usable then Adios pro 3?
Please tell me about Saucony daily trainer which has a outsole grip as the Puma grip.
Puma grip smokes then all!
Yo
Just missed the 3rd
It’s good for 8/8:30mil pace??
Don’t see why not. Pace is relative remember to each runner.
I picked this up in my local running store, it was a big mistake...
I flipped it over and saw the price, decided I'm not that good a runner, but everything else I picked up afterwards seemed to warrant the hefty price on this one.
I've got a half marathon cumming up, will a Takumi Sen 8 do the job, Ed? Any suggestions on a shoe that's kind on the feet at that distance as my pro2's are dying 😢
I’m say Takumi is a tough choice for HM…Takumi is more suitable for 5-10 K races
Takumi doesn't have a lot of cushion. Not to say you can't run a hm in those but as a takumi owner myself, my guess is your legs are gonna feel pretty beat up compared to other options
For me the sen is good for a half. Though check your local tk max for a pro 2 deal. They sometimes have some.
@@EDDBUD cheers, Ed, bought my pro2's from TK (should have bought more)... they sold out pretty quick and haven't had anything decent for a while.
I'm pretty light so might give the Takumi a go.
The " Professor," Jared Ward( USA), wore the Endorphin Elite in the Berlin Marathon. At the 40k mark, he could barely keep up with Tigist Assefa until he finally pulled away for pridesake and finished with a time of 2:11:44. Only 9 seconds better than Tigist with her womens world record. How much do you want to bet that the execs at Adidas use the picture of Tigist kissing the Adizero Pro Eva after her win in an ad to promote that shoe as if the shoe gave her bionic powers. Call me a cynic, but tell me that wasn't pre-planned in the event she won the race, not alone a new world record.
Agreed, and it sort of takes the gloss off her own performance by doing that too! Actually, a mixed bag as far as results for those that used the EVO 1 shoe. The current top Japanese woman marathoner in terms of times in recent years, Hitomi Niiya failed in her bid to break their National record in the EVO 1 shoes and actually posted her worst marathon time. I think these days it comes down to how good the athlete is on the day more than the shoe. And yeah, those Endorphin Elite's really pop on the tv screen. I saw them too on Ward as he was running alongside Assefa.
Yes it’s about the athlete ability and training. But lots about the on the day variables too
@EDDBUD Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya in 2011 still holds the current record for the fastest time in both the New York Marathon (2:05:06) and also in 2011 the Boston Marathon (2:03:02) He set the record time in both races wearing the Adidas Adizero Adios Boost 1.That shoe weighed 8.1oz. ( size 8) and a stack hieght of 27.5 mm heel and 17.1mm forefoot. Midsole used boost technology. No plate or energy rods. Not a super shoe compared to today's standards with the likes of lightstrike pro and energyrods and very high stack hieghts.
did u size up?
True to size for me.

Yo😅

@@EDDBUD thanks for the Kudos on todays race, not back to full fitness but achieved todays goal.
Bouncing in the Elite? 😳 Maybe my pair is fake.
Nice rebound to mine
