  • BEST SUPERSHOES FOR REGULAR RUNNERS? - FUELCELL SC TRAINER 3 - CIELO X1 - SUPERBLAST 2 - EDDBUD
Today i list my top SUPERSHOE or SUPER TRAINER options aside of the top tier race shoes. I examine a range of models all with similar maximal stacks, carbon plates, improved durability and with both training and racing potential.
Many runners find the top level race shoes too unstable and lacking in durability. Here are my top selections which can be used within your training and racing. It feels like there are two categories now, race super shoes and these super trainers.
Featured in the video are the following shoes.
    HOKA CIELO X1
NEW BALANCE FUELCELL SC TRAINER V3
    ASICS SUPERBLAST 2
    PUMA DEVIATE NITRO 2
The puma and asics models were sent to me for review, the new balance and hoka shoes were purchased with my own cash.

I’m a below average runner, but a runner I am. Starting at age 60, I will never be fast, but I am faster than when I didn’t run. I have come to love running and I love the kit and shoes. Who knew that losing weigh and getting fit could be so much fun? The fun race community is so incredibly supportive and welcoming.

When I received the Superblast 2, I was expecting it to be more of the same as the SB1, broken-in SB1 as some of the reviews say. But I never expected to be wowed in an instant, unlike the SB1 which took a while before it became the phenomenal shoe everybody was all too hyped about. So, while some say the updates are minimal, the Superblast 2 blew me away and all my reservations the moment I slipped them on. So, cheers! And doing my part to fight the algo!

The SB2 and CX1 for me this year. Still have the SCTv2 for LSDs and three pairs of the DN2 (one WTR version for the rainy season) that have plenty of miles still left in them - so I don't see the need for DN3. something would have to be pretty special to beat the Superblast for me. In fact, I like that the 2 is coming out so the 1 will have discounts! (maybe). I can't imagine a much better all-around training shoe than the 1, so I'll be picking up a couple more pair when they are discounted. Also, for a while now I've been questioning/bemoaning the inclusion of a "plate" in a training shoe. I suspect it's just a marketing gimmick. The Superblast is excellent, and no "plate". As am amateur Futurist, I suspect we'll see fewer "plated" and a transition to "just foam" max cushion shoes in the near future.

I’ve tried on the NB trainer in-store and liked it but have been holding out for the Superblast 2 (if it were to ever come back in stock) as I love my Novablast 4. Think I will continue to wait for the ASICS and save the carbon for race days as it seems like the best for my needs from your comments. I really liked the SC trainer v1, but I'm really put off by the price differences: 180 bucks in the US vs 250 Euro is almost fraudulent. I would pay that money if I found it somewhat justifiable (e.g. Prime X1 Strung) but not as a regional discrimination! My Superblasts or the Neo Vista are more than adequate to fill that spot in my rotation. Besides, for 250 (or below) there are so many good (older) super shoes. I still use an Endorphin Pro 2 that I got for 140 earthcredits as a speedy trainer, and my carbon racers can fill the same spot after some race usage.

I'm new to running, been running for 2 months now. Tried and borrowed a lot of shoes from friends (majority are new balance, hoka, on cloud, nike, asics) before i buy one. Nothing else comes close to Superblast 2 personally. But could be different for each person. Just sayin to those who have bias on brands/unit..

I was surprised to see the NB SC Elite v4 feature on the top Japanese male athlete at the Paris Olympics, finishing 6th. It makes me want to pick it up next year when it is discounted. I would have bypassed it but also given your positive appraisal of the SC Trainer 3 I think it can be a very good shoe. The barrier is the price. If it is reduced at least 40% it becomes a consideration, otherwise it is a no go. Thanks for the comparisons Edd! 👍

They might last longer than pair of Alphafly but they don't work for me in a different sense. I can't train in them, I can't race in them. They just don't work. If we call the Boston 12 a supershoe that is probably the only training shoe that works for me. For the race I either use my Takumi sen or OG Deviate Nitro Elite which is getting close to 500k.
