When I received the Superblast 2, I was expecting it to be more of the same as the SB1, broken-in SB1 as some of the reviews say. But I never expected to be wowed in an instant, unlike the SB1 which took a while before it became the phenomenal shoe everybody was all too hyped about. So, while some say the updates are minimal, the Superblast 2 blew me away and all my reservations the moment I slipped them on. So, cheers! And doing my part to fight the algo!
Absolutely loving the Superblast 2's for all my longer efforts right now. I really want to try out the Cielo X1, just waiting for the price to come down a bit 👍🏻
CX1 has been my go to for everything since April, every time I try another shoe, I just compare it to the CX1, I do everything in it. I put over 500 miles in the current ones and they seems just as good as they did after 100 miles. Hands down my fave. Thanks Ed for the review.
The SB2 and CX1 for me this year. Still have the SCTv2 for LSDs and three pairs of the DN2 (one WTR version for the rainy season) that have plenty of miles still left in them - so I don't see the need for DN3. Held out on SB1 and glad I did and got the SB2. It's a jack-of-all-trades kind of shoe but what a JACK it is!
@@EDDBUD They currently have the same outsole on their NB 5280v2 but why they don't have it on more of their shoes is probably a cost decision. SC Trainer 3 for me. Love the cushion and like you said, I tried to pickup the pace and was able to match my 5k time. I am no elite athlete, in fact I just run for health and stress relief but needed that cushion in my life to continue running and my shins are thanking me for buying these. I watched your initial review of the SB2 a few minutes ago, and although generally positive, you didn't seem all that excited. Looks like it's grown on you!
I highly recommend as a first carbon plated shoe the R-3000 from the spanish brand Joma. Cheap, not demanding, suitable for all kind of rythms from 4.45 to 3.35 and hits the sweet spot at 10k-21k at 4-4.35m/km
Great going! Have You heard about new carbon plated TYR shoes? Are they available in UK for the review? It's by this famous DR from Squat University...
Another great review. I had the 1st superblast and found them really quite narrow in the toe box and picked up many blisters, found using injinji toe socks the only socks I could use to run in them. However, a great comfy, fast mileage shoe. I’ve now picked up a pair of Pumas (D nitro 3) and have been super impressed across a range of training (intervals and Hills), great energy return, can get down to some spicy rep paces but can then keep them on to recover in for a cool down and they feel great. Well happy with the price point of them

I’ve the sc elite and just purchased the hoka cielo x1 , sc elite is nice but the hoka is 🤴 such a nice and bouncy ride. I’m 90kg and a world class plodder. I tried the sc trainer but it’s much more firm and much less bouncy. The Cielo upper is also much lighter , it’s looks much thicker than it is.
I would really like to know what the actual production costs are on these shoes. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re making 6-700% profit on each pair. Obviously the RND is there but would be interesting to know just on production costs, because honestly running shoe prices are just getting ridiculous now.
Maybe it’s a hoka thing as I found the skyward x restrictive and controlling with it forcing where it wants me to place it, I also find the X1 a little unstable if a lateral mi/heal striker with big gap in the middle of the heal just feels wobbly, want to love them but legs don’t feel great post run 😢
@@paulmulks Haha That’s what I was half expecting mate, a 400g brick, but when I weighed them they were 246g (size 7.5) which is about right as the sample size 8 is only slighty heavier, they can’t fake the weight, crazy! 😂

I'm new to running, been running for 2 months now. Tried and borrowed a lot of shoes from friends (majority are new balance, hoka, on cloud, nike, asics) before i buy one. Nothing else comes close to Superblast 2 personally. But could be different for each person. Just sayin to those who have bias on brands/unit..
Well I'm mid marathon training these days and just watching this I can almost hear my legs going like my nephew in a toy store..."can we get this? Or no, maybe this one! Can we? Can we??"
Cheers for this comparison Ed, but boy oh boy prices are going silly now, feels like manufacturers are taking the pee and making running as a hobby really expensive, even socks are silly money, just paid £60 for 4 pairs of hillys,
They might last longer than pair of Alphafly but they don't work for me in a different sense. I can't train in them, I can't race in them. They just don't work. If we call the Boston 12 a supershoe that is probably the only training shoe that works for me. For the race I either use my Takumi sen or OG Deviate Nitro Elite which is getting close to 500k.
Still running in the TC with 350 miles on it. The instability gave me confidence to buy the Prime X Strung. However, for me the TC heel is unstable but the Prime X is unstable in the forefoot area. Both great shoes though, perhaps it’s the instability that makes them both so great?
I retired the FC TC after 600km. Gorgeous shoe. Still running reps in the NB RC Elite v2 with 550km in them, grip gone but midsole good for treadmill. Would the Asics and/or NB in this review be similar?
The SC Trainer v3 in the US is $180 (139 GBP). I don't know why it's so expensive in the UK. I've got 30 miles in my pair and like them so far quite well.
Hi i am a heavy guy with wide feet. I think from this review NEW BALANCE FUELCELL SC TRAINER V3 seem to be the best option for me. Please advise if my understanding is correct.
Hi Edd, have you ever tried Asics Tarther RP3? They are suited for sprinting... but that shoe is a gem! Not many people in the west have used it... but for someone with a lighter frame such as yourself, it is just so efficiently appropriate-- you got to try it once!
would I be crazy to preorder the superblast .., and send back the one that doesn’t fit ? Not in regards to getting a shoe that fits, but more so, that ..”is the shoe that good” ?? all responses are welcome
Ran past 2 marathons in SC Trainer 2. Using a pair for long runs now. Would DN3 be a good long run/marathon option? I’m a 4hr+ marathoner, so I tend to shy away from “race day” shoes. Not sure they really are worth the 💰
I think the Hoka Cielo X1 should be supershoe for the masses. It is very versatile and gives you the supershoe feeling without having to be a sub 3 minute runner. Superblast is your loving wife you would never leave, while the Cielo is more like a hot lover.
I was surprised to see the NB SC Elite v4 feature on the top Japanese male athlete at the Paris Olympics, finishing 6th. It makes me want to pick it up next year when it is discounted. I would have bypassed it but also given your positive appraisal of the SC Trainer 3 I think it can be a very good shoe. The barrier is the price. If it is reduced at least 40% it becomes a consideration, otherwise it is a no go. Thanks for the comparisons Edd! 👍
Don’t get the pricing of the NB SC 3 in the U.K. Here in the U.S. it’s $180 which is $20 cheaper than the Superblast. NB needs to get their act together pricing wise.

The comparison I have been looking for! If you had to run a marathon in one, which would it be? Thanks!
Of these, maybe the Superblast 2
I was sure that the DN3 had a 10mm drop, at least on the spec sheet 🤔
Nah I’ve measured the v2 and 3. They are the same and not near 10. Not sure how they got those measurements.
Still running in the TC with 350 miles on it. The instability gave me confidence to buy the Prime X Strung. However, for me the TC heel is unstable but the Prime X is unstable in the forefoot area. Both great shoes though, perhaps it’s the instability that makes them both so great?
The primex is perhaps one of the best i have tried on all fronts. Found it more stable than it appeared
WAZZUUUP 🎉
I retired the FC TC after 600km. Gorgeous shoe. Still running reps in the NB RC Elite v2 with 550km in them, grip gone but midsole good for treadmill. Would the Asics and/or NB in this review be similar?
The SC Trainer v3 in the US is $180 (139 GBP). I don't know why it's so expensive in the UK. I've got 30 miles in my pair and like them so far quite well.
It bonkers isn’t it!
For me endorphin pro3.
What a shoe 🥇
Banger! 👌🏻
Endorphin pro4 is good too
Hi i am a heavy guy with wide feet. I think from this review NEW BALANCE FUELCELL SC TRAINER V3 seem to be the best option for me. Please advise if my understanding is correct.
Yeah it’s fairly wide. The Nb range is probably a good bet
The SC Trainer 3 felt too soft and unstable as a larger runner (6’6”, 220lbs). Leaning more towards the SB2
Certainly more consistency in the Superblast
SC Trainer 3 vs Boston 12. What are the differences? Which one do you recommend? Thanks in advance
Massive price difference. The sc is softer but the Boston 12 a bit more engaging and responsive.
Hi Edd, have you ever tried Asics Tarther RP3? They are suited for sprinting... but that shoe is a gem! Not many people in the west have used it... but for someone with a lighter frame such as yourself, it is just so efficiently appropriate-- you got to try it once!
Haven’t had a chance to try that yet
Prime X Strung V1 💯
The legendary shoe!
would I be crazy to preorder the superblast .., and send back the one that doesn’t fit ? Not in regards to getting a shoe that fits, but more so, that ..”is the shoe that good” ??
all responses are welcome
Always keep the shoe that fits 👊👍🏼
For marathon, between SC and Puma, which one you will pick?
Personally. The Puma for its stability later in the run
@@EDDBUD thanks 💪🏼
Nice 🎉
🥈
Well done.
At 68, puma nitro 3 4:13 , nova blast 4 only
Ran past 2 marathons in SC Trainer 2. Using a pair for long runs now. Would DN3 be a good long run/marathon option? I’m a 4hr+ marathoner, so I tend to shy away from “race day” shoes. Not sure they really are worth the 💰
Maybe the Superblast would be good for you 👍🏼
Would you put the Endorphin Pro 4 on this list too? Thanks
It’s more stable than most. Perhaps a good shout
@EDDBUD thanks, agreed! How would you compare the Endorphin Pro 4 vs the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 please? If you don't mind
Ed, you didn't seem so fond of the SB 2 in your initial review video. What changed? Was there a break in period?
I liked it but it’s the kinda shoe that needs some time
I think the Hoka Cielo X1 should be supershoe for the masses. It is very versatile and gives you the supershoe feeling without having to be a sub 3 minute runner. Superblast is your loving wife you would never leave, while the Cielo is more like a hot lover.
These are the takes I like. 🤣👍🏼
Happy algorithm !!!
Yay! Thank you!
Loads of last years models on discount right now
Is it christmas yet? I can see the lights! 🤣
If the Cielo x1 is on the video the crimbo lights are essential.
Don’t get the pricing of the NB SC 3 in the U.K. Here in the U.S. it’s $180 which is $20 cheaper than the Superblast. NB needs to get their act together pricing wise.
Madness here on fuelcell stuff
I'm a noob runner but i have a Puma Fast R 2 😂😂😂
Hi what marathon shoe would you recommend for someone that overpronates? My first marathon this year I ran in kayano 30 but I now want something a little faster
Maybe look at the Superblast 2 or something plateless.
The more the cushion, the worse. It's not the cushioning of the shoe that will stop injuries, but running form.
I think it’s down to the right shoe for the right person and the right time.
Still torn between vaporfly 3 and asics magic speed 4 for my speed sessions, any suggestions?
(I’m currently rocking pegasus 38 & novablast 3 for my dailies)
Maybe try picking up the discounted precious Metaspeed Sky. The plus is a superb shoe and now a bit cheaper
Can you recommend shoes for daily wear?
🎉
🥇
