Yo You Yo...I been in this business for 23 years and one of the biggest mistakes ppl make are listening to other ppl. If 12 volt works good for you, DO THAT and don't change until YOU see the need to change. Keep doing you! Great video!
8GPM, M5 Twist, and Flower remote bypass, one hell of a combo. If you are fast dragging 2 hoses, you can be faster dragging 1. No wrong way to do it but I love my downstream set up.
I’m telling you, once you go to downstream, you won’t go back to 12v. You save so much time rinsing, 8 gpm rinsing and your done quickly. Plus you have better pressure to get higher spots and get stubborn spots cleaned. 5.5 gpm is good too. Keep up your hustle, good stuff!
Not to mention the reliability of the equipment, hardly ever have an issue of any kind other than swapping out an injector or simply changing out a oring and spring inside of it
Downstream dilutes your chems down way too much and the high flow drips all the chems off. You're using way too much water and chems that way it's totally inefficient and a waste of fluid. Soft washing is way faster for killing mildew/algae then it just needs a quick rinse.
If your pressure washer is starting but not producing pressure, it's most likely that the internals of the pump are messed up. There are these little plastic inserts that go into each valve inside the pump that can break after extended use. Pretty cheap and pretty easy to replace. Edit: I just realized this video is over a year old.
I like your work man keep up the good work I'm always looking at your videos getting more experience and learning so much from you I'm Curtis record out of South Carolina Southern pressure washer thank you keep up the good work
I used to only use a 7gpm electric pump with a blend manifold and I always thought that downstreaming was dumb… then I bought an 8gpm pressure washer and decided to try out down-streaming and wow! I’m never going back to doing houses with the 12v, it’s only for roofs and flatwork now. The major benefit to downstreaming if the rediculous amount of flow and reach that you get running through an 8gpm washer. It’s absolutely cut my time in half, not to mention you don’t need go back to the trailer to turn off your chem, you use a smaller orifice that creates more back pressure in the line and the injector will stop pulling chem so you can rinse and it only take about 10 seconds to flush the line so that not an issue. I’ve used a 5.5 electric pump side by side with a 5.5 pressure washer and there is still a substantial difference in how easily you can apply chemical and rinse. The pressure washer does a much better job. Both definitely work but after a year or so with just an electric pump and now about a year and a half with a downstream setup I can confidently say that downstreaming is better for applying chem (unless you need a mix hotter than about 2%), rinsing, speed, convenience (being able to turn off chem almost instantly just by swapping tips), and reliability. Injectors do go bad but as long as you rinse them out at the end of the day then you can get several months out of a 40 dollar injector. And when you do need to change it, it only takes a couple seconds.
Hey Noah. Thanks for the input! I'm sure I'll make the switch one day and I know all the pros and cons to downstreaming. I'd be happy with more flow for sure but I get 5 jobs done a day with 12 volt, no maintenance, no fuel, no oil, no replaceable parts. Pros and cons to both, especially with high fuel prices. I did the math on it last year with lower fuel prices and the amount of washes I do I'd be spending 2k or more just in fuel over a season. Flow is nice but the 12v is fine. I've done 3 story apartment complexes all 12 volt. DS might be in my future but not yet
@@YoungAmbitionYA I hear ya man! I still love my 12v setup and have done some larger commercial work with it but I still wanna pound my face in when I use it for house washes now 😂 Definitely comes down to preference though, love your content man. Keep up the good work!!
Good stuff. I run a 12 v. 7 gpm NorthStar pump with 200 ft 5/8 flexilla hose. Home made PVC wand with a 10 dollar Ryobi adjustable tip. I can hit 3 stories high. Made my own proportioner with Pentair valves. I don’t run a Pentair on water side just a ball valve. Been running like this for 2 yrs. I rinse my pump every job. So far so good. I would say down streaming is a little faster only when they have a flow pro remote. If the DS doesn’t have the remote it would be close. I have to walk back and turn off my SH valve to rinse. I do have a 4gpm PW for flat work.
One of the biggest things where downstreaming has an advantage is breaking up debris as your applying chems therefore you have essentially already started part of the rinse portion. On 5.5 gpm pressure washer I only use about 40 gallon on the buffer tank. On Joe Deering he’s now using 8pm

Hey Gandalf 👋. Do a RUclips search for "downstream setup for pressure washer." That's what you need. Are you looking to just wash your house or get in the business of washing other houses. For just your house you need a nozzle that would allow more flow so you can reach higher (the yellow, red, green etc tips that come with a pressure washer are meant for close up use) and your pressure washer should have a barb where a small hose could be attached and then dropped into a bottle of bleach. If you want to wash for a business you'll need more equipment, for example, a 55 gallon tank to hold bleach and a downstream injector. I know this probably sounds confusing, but with this info here you should have a few things to search. Hope that helps and as you have more questions just ask. Start a new comment for every question. Many options. I've done them all. You can have two 12v pumps and 2 hoses. One is your wash and one is just for rinse. You can have a 12v and hose for washing, and hook a garden hose to the customers house to rinse. You can 12v wash and use a pressure washer to rinse. Or you can use a remote downstream injector for a pressure washer. I wasn't downstreaminng at this point but if you find my newer vids you'll see my DS setup

I'll try to do the vid shortly but for now I'll try to clearly explain. It's very simple - go on Amazon and search "bulkhead fitting." That goes in the bottom of the tank. If you have a 1/2 pump then get a half in bulk head. If you have a 3/4 inlet outlet pump like I do get a 3/4 (or do yourself a favor and just do 3/4 because it will feed either pump best. You'll need a blend manifold if you aren't batch mixing. 1 hose goes to your soap, one goes to your bleach tank, one goes to your bulk head
The red hose is 1/2 for bleach mix. Blue hose is 1/2 water for rinsing. This video didn't age well - all I do is downstream now 🤣. Check out newer vids
Hello, I really like your videos. You share a lot of information about your business. I want to start a business like this next year. Thank you for sharing your videos, what is your name? Thank you
Are you still soft washing or did you convert to down streaming? I'm still soft washing with my 12v then rising with the pressure washer which works great for me. I haven't down streamed before though either.
@@YoungAmbitionYA I guess we're last of a dying breed then! I like knowing everything is covered with a precise mix everytime not a diluted mix with downstreaming. It just doesn't seem an you can get an exact mix with just changing tips.
Can't imagine it's a massive difference in time. A few minutes. Takes us the same amount of time to get going, pull out and wrap up hoses etc. You have time to go back and forth between sh and fresh water. Same amount of time it takes me to switch hoses. So it comes down to shaving off a few minutes of rinsing. Not really worth it for the fuel costs and fill ups, oil changes, corroding metal components etc. Just my opinion.
You have to stick with what works great for you. You business is booming so why change. It like cody said, don't go chasing the lady in the red dress. Stick with what you know and works and master it. #KeepPushing #KeepGrinding #StayFocused
I use the northern tool pump and get a lot of life out of them. You can also just by the head. That said the bleach pump is definitely just a remarketed standard 5.5 for $20 more. I haven’t bought one. I’m going to the Pumptec X6. It’s 12v and 300 psi. I have that 4 way for my hoses as well. I have a 5.5 pressure washer too and plan on staying with it for the same reason
@@YoungAmbitionYA 1hp star water systems booster pump with a gauge isolator check valve and pressure switch you can apply and rinse with it will outperform the x6 it takes 120 volts to run it.
I do it both ways and really don't make too much of a difference 5-10 minutes makes it faster anything over a two story and I really do miss my hometown glens falls just saying
You are a hard headed individual!!!! That 12 volt shit will not compete with downsteaming !!!!! I’ve been doing this for 16 years and started out downsteaming and I do have the option of 12 volt soft washing but there isn’t enough flow to compete with downsteaming-it’s all about getting the product on and thoroughly rinsing it off !!!!! You’re most likely only putting out 3 gpm with that system and that is a far cry from 7-8 gpm at adjustable psi ,also you are fist fighting 2 hoses that are constantly getting tangled, constantly replacing those bullshit 12 volt pumps too ,if you don’t have great flow from customers water source then get a unit like Joe Deerie has (GX390 and 5.6gpm belt drive)these units are house washing beasts ,every time I think that this 12 volt trend is the way to go I embarrass the hell out of myself and go back to downsteaming!!!!! My remote system works from 300 feet and you never have to go back to the truck to switch from soap to rinse ,I’m not replacing equipment all the time either, there’s also a lot of places you just can’t reach on tall 2 story houses with a 12 volt ,not enough flow or pressure so then you go and get a ladder off the truck to be able to reach them-get your head out of your ass and start downsteaming son !!!!!
Lol didnt know 12v was in competition with DS. All fired up over nothing brother. People have different opinions...I know that's difficult for people these days smh
@@YoungAmbitionYA No problem at all man ,I just don’t want people to be confused on which way to make the most profit for their business- keep hustling brother

@@YoungAmbitionYA thanks ok what about have two tanks . one for bleach and one for water and have a proportioner to mix it ?
Yes that's correct. Check some of my old vids my setup was like that
@@YoungAmbitionYA i looked for video like that I couldnt find it . got a link ?
Hello, I really like your videos. You share a lot of information about your business. I want to start a business like this next year. Thank you for sharing your videos, what is your name? Thank you
You got this bro. I'm Eric
@@YoungAmbitionYA Thanks eric
What size flower u using
6gpm 12 volt pump. Flojet
@@YoungAmbitionYA I thought so. Got one on the way. I’ve been batch mixing. I also have the parts to build a proportioner on the way.
Rinse or Not to Rinse ..... Why or why not????
Hey TD. Are you referring to rinsing roofs?
So what are you doing for marketing?
Facebook, mailers, referrals door hangers
DSing is faster.. I never have to back to truck.. Just switch tips to rinse
If you would have a bigger pressure washer you would cut half the time with downstreaming
Are you still soft washing or did you convert to down streaming? I'm still soft washing with my 12v then rising with the pressure washer which works great for me. I haven't down streamed before though either.
What's up Scotty 🤙. I still 12v!
@@YoungAmbitionYA I guess we're last of a dying breed then! I like knowing everything is covered with a precise mix everytime not a diluted mix with downstreaming. It just doesn't seem an you can get an exact mix with just changing tips.
You get more water flow with a downstream. So you will be getting done much faster.
Absolutely Jimmy. No need to fix what isnt broken! Everyone in a hurry to spend more money on things they dont need
What pushes the water to your blue
rinse line? Is it the PW?
I use the northern tool pump and get a lot of life out of them. You can also just by the head. That said the bleach pump is definitely just a remarketed standard 5.5 for $20 more. I haven’t bought one. I’m going to the Pumptec X6. It’s 12v and 300 psi. I have that 4 way for my hoses as well. I have a 5.5 pressure washer too and plan on staying with it for the same reason
I'm going to check out the x6!
@@YoungAmbitionYA Its pricey but built to last and there’s a rebuild kit for the pump head
@@YoungAmbitionYA 1hp star water systems booster pump with a gauge isolator check valve and pressure switch you can apply and rinse with it will outperform the x6 it takes 120 volts to run it.
Joe gettin the shoutout! #onepullbaby
U can downstream with that pressure washer u have and just rinse with 12v and pw
Rinsing is faster with a pressure washer
Looking forward to trying it
I find to 12 v setup and breakdown to be a lot quicker than down streaming.
I do it both ways and really don't make too much of a difference 5-10 minutes makes it faster anything over a two story and I really do miss my hometown glens falls just saying
Thanks for the info!
@@MarkB-zt9jm most profit would be 12v. You can argue efficiency with DS, but not profit. Too many expenses and more maintenance than 12v. More SH usage too, usually 8 gallons more per job than 12v.
@@YoungAmbitionYA you have already run through many 12 volt pumps ,they don’t last and I’m sure they are not free either. My gear driven AR pump only needs an occasional oil change ($6.00)going on 5 years now and running strong, but you do you
Seems like there are 2 kinds of guys soft wash and hard wash both just seems to complicated and unnecessary, Stick to soft washing man if that’s what you like, I’m a down stream injector guy myself and I’m contemplating whether or not to switch over.
Have you figured out what's wrong with your other PW?.. im sure you checked the pump oil and replaced the unloader, check valves? Check the obvious stuff 1st..
Never messed with it. Wasnt worth the time or money.
Sorry but you are so wrong about downstreaming! I have a 12v and use it occasionally but when you can apply and rinse at 8-10 gpm it’s no comparison…
i spend $0 on maintenance, $0 on fuel for a pressure washer, and use way way way less chem. id rather have great margins than fast rinse smh
Your not ready.
....about what? Besides this is a year old. Check the new then hmu 😉
@@YoungAmbitionYA Down streaming.
I use a 8gpm now
@@YoungAmbitionYA Hell yeah. Nice job.
If all your life you ride a donkey and someone introduced you to a horse… if u don’t ride the horse you will never know your donkey is a complete piece of shit🤣🤣🤣. No matter what they do with a donkey it will never be as fast as a horse… I know u say ur not against downstreaming but if u don’t know anything about it… don’t write it off…
you think i dont know anything about DS? i know plenty. and i know that my system costs close to $0/season in maintenance and $0 in fuel. i make $200k revenue in 6/mo and keep close to all my income since its not wasted on having a "fast horse." im not interested in being faster or as fast as the next guy. but im pretty darn confident i keep more money. seems to me that most people are more concerned with me not DSing than I am. get a life lol. thanks for the ad views.
man I’m tryna find reasons to not downstream but all this guy is doing is showing us how broke his rig is don’t have 20 minutes to spare trying to find it
Why would you look for reasons not to down stream? Both are great options depending on where you are in your business. This video isn't about why you shouldn't downstream, it's about why I haven't been up to this point. I'm switching to downstreaming soon and looking forward to it. I've been full time washing for 2 seasons now all 12v. Loved it and am a big fan of 12v once I figured out the right setup.

It took you 2/3 of the video to stop complaining and get to the point. watch and review your videos and learn.
