      It's not as wild when you think about it. People only come to Reddit when things blow up so much they feel like they either need outside perspectives or backup. An asshole who punches a 12 year old knows that people won't agree with them so they'll hide that it happened, while a normal person who ordered mashed potatoes and things got out of hand will usually be able to handle the situation (unless the other party is a manipulative asshole who's gaslighting the OP). As a result, the niche that reddit fills filters out for reasonable people who found themselves in situations that when summarized make them *sound* like an asshole but aren't, and assholes in situations that when summarized make them not sound like an asshole when they are. Also people who are massively manipulated into believing they're the asshole when they've done nothing wrong and their manipulator pushed the envelope a bit too far.

      It's unfortunate Op didn't put a little more effort into convincing her sister to board, and instead wasted time with comments like "if he's your responsibility you shouldn't have let him drink, so this is all your fault," which I'm sure (I hope anyway) Op intended facetiously. Still, maybe Op could have offered to take the older child on the flight, so the sister wouldn't have more children than hands in such a busy, crowded environment.

    • @Goobie-snoober

      I fear what might happen to that sister. Living with an alcoholic that bad is insufferable, I've lived with an alcoholic before (Definitely not as bad but they'd still get drunk every few weeks or so) and even then it made a rift between us, I hope the sister manages to leave that guy before he does something to her. Or worse, her children

    • @jjr9792

      S.3 - I'm surprised Op didn't get at least 0.5 buttholes. While he's 100% correct on the issue, it's still unacceptable to insult and swear at your spouse. Stating "It's unacceptable that you continually break your promises to me," instead of "Just be less fucking useless", regardless of any ultimatum or deadline for improvement. I also agree with the comments saying she should have to get a job and pay for a housekeeper instead of staying home with her addiction all day. It would probably be healthier for both of them

    Story 5: not even mentioning that using someone else's PRESCRIPTION is very illegal, and expensive to replace. I work as a pharmacy technician and if that bottle doesn't last as long as it should, insurance isn't going to cover it again until she should be out of it. Paying out of pocket for prescriptions is no small matter either.

      These little kids who are using this really expensive product on their skin like retinol and drunken elephant are going to regret it when they get older. They don't know what they're doing. And neither do most of these beauty influencers. The reality is they don't need these products. They are way too young. My cousin came over and did that to my makeup. Her parents replaced all of it. It was hundreds of dollars that she ruined. Her parents were furious.

      Really?
      Inadvisable certainly, and undeniably wrong, but illegal?

    • @Bendylife
      @Bendylife Месяц назад +2

      @ianmacfarlane1241 I believe they could be fined in my country for taking a prescription that didn't belong to them, but it also depends on the prescription. My ADHD meds, for example, could land a person in prison for taking.

    • @cmlemmus494
      @cmlemmus494 Месяц назад

      @@ianmacfarlane1241 It will vary based on the specific drug used, but yes, in the US there are both state and federal laws governing prescription drugs. It makes sense if you think about it: these are controlled substances that you can only buy if you have a prescription and only specific types of doctors can prescribe certain types of drugs. If a person could just grab someone else's prescription with no legal consequences, what would be the point of prescriptions? It is also illegal to intentionally give your own prescription to someone else. [I said US since this story is clearly there, but most countries have similar laws.]

(provided other part works 100% ofc) 50work+75% of household=125%. and 100% work+ 25% of household =125%. and when I divide household chores into % it's for TIME consumed by them. They need to sit down and have a serious conversation if this relationship is going to last. Was what OP said on the mean side? Yeah but it could be what is needed to either figure out what they need to do to save this relationship, or if they want to part ways. #2-you could get pink eye from makeup, skin flare ups (like what happened here) or worse.
    #3-don’t touch a prescription w/ someone else name on it. It could be pricey to replace, and if it’s skincare scripts, they do major damage in the 1st few days & weeks of getting used to them. That’s why they’re prescription only! As someone who takes Accutane-it’s a pain to get, lots of hoops to jump through, & severe side effects! Sounds like this was topical, maybe Differin gel, but that has major side effects too!
    I’ve gotten chemical burns from using a face serum w/expired ingredients! The 16 yo had no right to use someone else’s things w/out asking. Who doesn’t bring their own if they’re staying overnight somewhere?
    She’s def old enough to know you ask 1st-don’t root through someone’s things & then get mad when YOU have an issue-that’s like suing someone you robbed when the stolen item wasn’t what you thought it was. It’s just silly. Her dad is a moron too, no wonder the 16 yo acts like she does.
