I feel like Rosa's ending has 2 possible meanings: 1. Is about her understanding she has to move on, but deeply feeling the need to stay, so the day she changes her house for a home (aka, family and friends) she will truly move on. 2. She is accepting the house won't change, so she adopts it as a memory, the house will stay the same in the past but she won't in the future, and that's why despite taking it with her through the ocean she will be a new self, because memories aren't left behind, memories are a reminder, and her taking her house with her is like saving pictures of her old house or a toy she has as a kid, just exaggerated.
A definite theme I can see with the shorts are dissatisfaction and the self destruction that can ensue. 1. They want to "make it big". They lose everything to the appearance of "being rich". Eventually neglecting their emotional core (their old house and daughters) and embedding themselves in this charade. Ultimately paying the ultimate price. The daughters make it out alive as they were content with all they had. 2. The developer also embodies this idea. He's become totally isolated in his pursuit to sell the house. The calls to the dentist are an escapist fantasy that he's got someone that cares for him. He thinks that selling the house is his "big break". Once that is achieved, its smooth sailing from here on. An unfortunate relatable view. The tenants embrace him. Perhaps they, like the beetles, reflect the toxic environments and communities self destructive people fall into. They offer him belonging. He loses everything, even his sanity, but the sense of belonging is what he craves. See the proverb: a child not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth. He basically got both, for the worse. 3. Rosa's story is the most straight forward. She's stuck in her ways and her friends are forced to ultimately leave her. They've outgrown her. She's clinging to former/imagined glory and is missing what will truly bring her emotional catharsis. The ending music is melancholic because she's been forced to let go of her comfort to mature. But also notice all 3 parties are on separate vessels at the end. They're on their own voyages now. Their paths will intersect, but the old days are behind them. Its the bittersweet parting of friends. But in Rosa letting go, she will at least be able to see them again and live her life. But het, that's just a theory. An off the cuff theory!
1:26 Don't forget the intro, folks. These short films are actually good. The suspense, drama, mystery and PG 13 like feeling even though it looks more PG. 1. And Heard Within A Lie Is Spun: Mabel and Isabel (the sisters) learning the house is curse those who stay there too long and luring victims with luxurious furnitures, fancy food and large amounts of space. Glad the girls escaped the cursed house. 2. Then Lost Is That Can't Be Won: The Rat Developer having a sense of yearning in the short film was sympathetic. Getting to close the Dentist part was creepy. The Rat buyers foreshadowing their insect like behavior towards the Developer was unsettling. When the Developer was brought home with the Buyers and their family. It was heartbreaking the Developer felt alone, he reverted into a vermin with the buyers family because he had no one until now. 3. Listen Again and Seeks The Sun. It was little frustrating at first seeing Rosa the owner of the house trying to keep the house in check. But, mentioning the flood in area they are inhabiting in explained why Rosa is stress and yet the cats seeking a better place by building a boat. After Cosmos and Elias making boats out some parts of the house was cool. But, they made house a floating house ship for Rosa. That is not very generous, that is actually nice of them to do that for Rosa. The theme learning to move on in this segment was interesting interpretation. These short films were fun to watch. But, third segment is bit more emotional than the two. The first segment is best type suspense without using gore or violence except burning down the house. Thank you Ros Mo for reviewing this. These short films were fun to revisit again.
Watched it before this review and I felt uncomforatable mostly because of the first story. I stopped watching after half of the second story. I already felt uncomfortable with the really tall mouse because it looked like a bug. I did like the stop motion and designs though, but the story was unsettling for me.
I’m not surprised that Netflix has little to no promotion with The House and Wendell & Wild (both movies are stop motion but The House is a Netflix special which conflicts me if it’s a movie/film or not). I barely see behind the scenes content from The House, but I’ve seen some concept art/model prototypes from Instagram. Fun facts: Most of the scenes in the movie is entirely animated in stop motion. Also, it is also the first stop motion movie to be released the same year like Wendell & Wild and GDT’s Pinocchio.
Rod Mo, I just wanna say thank you for bringing all these movies to light again. I am not sure if you have seen this two movies but please check out treasure planet and Sinbad legend of the seven seas.
I noticed that the "fancy clothes" looked like a curtain and a chair, it was like the person who kept changing the house was trying to make them part of the house.
At first I thought it was just a movie about a house, but when the movie continued I was traumatized but then there was a story that was kind fun or idk, i recommend to watch if you like weird and confusion
The next movie will be about Equestria Girls? Alright, I'm sure it will be kind of hard to understand the references if you haven't watched the series. But hey, I will be there to enjoy your review, Ros Mo. PD: By the way, I hope you have had a wonderful birthday the past Sunday!😁
It reminded me of The Magnus Archives (very minor spoilers for season 1 and I guess 3), and how in some episodes The Corruption was used as a way to represent toxic or unhealthy love, like in episode 32 or episode 102. The whole thing with people living alongside bugs they can't seem to get rid of, having their surroundings slowly decay, and eventually being treated as part of the colony feels like a common theme between the two stories.
@@PLEASETODEARGOSLETMESLEEP Stopmotion is an art hard to make. The whole process is quite tedious. That's why I consider it something to admire if you put a lot of work into it. Not everyone is able to understand that.
This house unsettles the hell out of me. Just thinking about story 2 and I feel so ill and unsettled. End scene of that haunts the shit out of me. Its worth the watch but dear god I couldn't watch it again
I do not like bugs but because it’s like a cartoony version I’m not mad about it cause the cartoony versions I don’t think they look that disgusting but I really appreciate her giving us a warning cause some people may even not like the cartoon bugs
Hold up, Equestria Girls is your next movie?! Didn't see that coming, but I don't mind if you do a review of it. Though, I hope you're aware of how toxic the Fandom is, and I'm not just talking about EG, I'm referring to ALL of MLP, or at least just FIM and Gen 5 I think. (which is the show from the last decade and the newer Netflix series which we have now.) I advise that you choose your words VERY carefully on this one. Consider that a warning meant to help you evade possible backlash, cause we all know how a fanbase can get when they're angry. Oh, and one more thing in case you don't know, there are 4 Equestria Girls movies.

Hi
Love these ideas. ❤️💯
OMGG
To be honest it's scary not gonna lie the part were the mouse sleep with the dead insect gives me the hellish feels
Same 😅
It can be symbolic of him wanting companionship and to not be alone, and in the end, he does gain companionship with the rat-bug-things
This movie made me so unsettled, especially part 2, but I like how part 3 ended on a much more hopeful note
Yes! Segment two made me feel so weird! 😭

This movie was one of the only movies that had me thinking and trying to come up with meaning and themes. Movie turned me into an english teacher lmao
I agree with what you said about the developer killing the bugs. That moment when he's in the kitchen is pretty sus.
I don't get it
Did anyone one else realize that the doll house Mabel owned actually looked like the new house?
Also I loved this movie and rewatched it a few times.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING VIDEO.💛
Also adored the house. Glad to see the amazing RRRRRRRRRos Mo covering it.
The second part scared me more than the other parts.
