It's true you giving all this info for free is outrageous but as a beginner in trumpet i thank you for it!

I am 74 of age, play the trumpet since 12, always, like many, struggle with the higher notes, well I like your clear info, will follow and hear the results !

I have been "pummeled" by teachers about buzzing and for me it never works except to make me tighten up just like you said. To get a free buzz or a clear MP buzz makes me tense but as you pointed out if I just concentrate on air moving through on the MP when I then put the horn up the tone starts and all is happy and it sounds pretty darn good to me as opposed to like you pointed out that pinched cramped "buzz into the MP sound" so thanks for freeing me up from this pressure to buzz!

I'm 50 and just beginning. I actually have a cornet. Great video. Many of the instruction on RUclips imply you have to get the buzz with the mouthpiece.

I was wondering why my tone was so much worse on flugel than trombone! This really helps, and I think that all brass players should know about it and keep it in mind when playing! Thank you so much!

I just recently bought a trumpet I’m 40 haven’t played one since I was a sophomore in high school… but I did play at a very high level for a child from a young age till my teens . Hopefully it’s like riding a bike and I still got it .

I have a carol brass it is a bit pricy but plays just like a regular trumpet. There is however a slight difference in tamber

I never attempt to buzz, focussing the air will be sufficient to cause the buzz to start on either the mouthpiece or the instrument.

Blowing and letting the horn vibrate the lips is not buzzing the lips. Nor is it buzzing the mouthpiece.
