Great video. One of the biggest giveaways for these VST guitar sounds, is the release. For some reason, most programmers turn the release way up to high. So, the minute I install any of these plugs, I turn the release down really low. That increases the realism even if the samples are weak. This trick especially works for real Strat.
Kevin Reeves agreed. Strawberry in particular sounds great but when I hear solos, the release time has to be set low or it sounds too keyboardey.
11:49 that was fire bro!
And we chop and sample those sounds
i might mess around and sample that jank
Red Hot Chili Peppers.
This is such an inspiring video! I'm 16 and struggling from lack of inspiration. Great exploration of amazing plug ins
omg... I absolutely LOVE 3:42 - 4:18 It's so sick and "groovy"! lol How can you play _guitar_ so well on a _PIANO_!? AND LIVE. Dude, you're incredible. I wish that was a full song.
ILikeTrainsKid1122 Lots of practice. I used to make MIDI tracks for theaters when they couldn't afford live musicians. It was out of necessity.
+hifimidi Dude... U r awesome... Maybe u must make the full song (sry4english)
Dang, I luv how you play. Are you still selling midi tracks?
@@kjvisual7 Hello , which midi song you need ?
That strawberry sounds AMAZING !
I've only used Realstrat, it can sound great with Guitar rig, really cool and realistic sounds especially if handled professionally.
cool review!!!!
gotta say the strawberry evolution sold me !
I didn't realize until the end that this was a home review. I thought it was the maker doing a self-deprecated honest review.
Lol. I think I would be harder on myself if I made my own samples. "Oops, sorry, you can hear my cat meow when you hit F# at a velocity between 50-70."
Hey bro, i'm looking for a plugin to emulate a specific guitar sound, if i put the link with some part of the song, can you let me know if i can make that with of the three guitar that you show here on this tutorial?
Anyway here is the link -> 1drv.ms/u/s!Ao4t_C483tzG5GaGYQFssGi0O6a0
WOW! You're an awesome keyboard-guitarist!
Love your videos... I wish I could see your hands playing the keys (maybe on a smaller screen shot, on the corner). Just to get an idea on how you are doing the techniques.
i like strawberry! strumming like realistic.. kudos to this video!
NOTICE: the problem in strawberry electric at 2:18 exists because by default in this library there is a legato when you play 2 notes whitin a range of a second major. You can change this by going to setup (the last tab on the right in the main page) and set legato range to disabled
your keyboard guitar skills are beastmode. It's like you could be a demo salesman for any of these companies
1:33 *SE Sound*
11:49 *AGF Sound*
Better than ample
I've owned Strawberry for years but only tend to use it for some background of picking. The way you play is fantastic and I'll be looking out for some playing tips. 👍
"I'm not so good at playing something on the spot..." GTFO bro
lmao that's what I was thinking
When I make mistakes, I become really disappointed and end up flogging myself later on.
@@hifimidi do you also cut of your ear when painting?
Thats what every single person @ youtube says...Then they 100% kill it rofl. I cant personally play at all.
Only when I want to impress my wife.
Nice melodies and chord progressions.
Strawberry sounds so real and up the chat sound-engineered-wise!
*plays something extremely creative and well
"okay i'm not very good at playing things on the spot"
That’s called being a smart ass.
@@Jellybeantiger if you think that's what being a smartass means then you're a dumbass
What a great demo, well done mate. Your keyboard guitar works is amazing. Well done.
Really nice comparison.
Interesting & useful. Thanks. I have AGF and some of the other Ample guitars. I like them a lot. Also, I have NI's Strummed acoustic & AAS' Strum GS-2 which I also like. These libraries are so helpful when you don't know which end of the guitar to use, let alone remembering if it is the string side or the back side! If HD space, money & time were no object then I'd get all of these as I've read good things about musiclab & Orange tree.
3:28 "Sorry if that was....." the sound of his voise reminds me of south park LOL
Nice review. Lovely jazz chords at the end.
Thank You for doing this! You gave some great insight here that was much appreciated. You have a nice touch on the keys as well. Cheers!
Thank you :)
Real Strat option is sliding the plectrum (pick) from the bridge to the neck for different sounds.
Excellent stuff. Strawberry guitar sounds gorgeous, probably the nicest sound among the 3...at least from what you auditioned in the video. Frankly, your ability to play keyboard like a guitarist is what sells all 3. You really should do a separate video showing how you play, and what tricks/methods you've learned to simulate a live sound. For instance, the riff you play at 5:33, I see you're using a muted articulation in between the notes which the kontakt player has in the lower register, but are you literally playing those 16th notes with your left hand or is there another way?
I'll kick in $50 towards your camcorder if/when you decide to do it. Standing offer. If nothing else, filming your hands while you play for future videos would go a long way.
As far as the VSTs, since I pretty much only use acoustic guitars, Ample makes the best product for my money...especially when you factor in the strumming capability. Full tab performance is always nice too, as every articulation is recognized in Ample. But as someone else mentioned, it's more of a programmer's dream tool as opposed to something taylored for live performance. It can take days and days to program a convincing performance.
There's some good sounds in there and I think you were right that while all of them aren't completely realistic, in a band setting you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.. Some of it did sound like John Lord riffing on his keys though. (see Purple, Deep). Try Scarbee's Funk guitar for your funk needs.
Thanks for the DETAILED review
I would appreciate if you can tell me the drums you are using? Name of the VST/Plugin Etc or place to download from.
Thanks
Excellent overview, thanks. I enjoyed your playing as well.

12:35 and onwards was amazing!!
Now where is the weed? :) Totally amazing!
You're wondering why it isn't snappy with Star time button set to 0 ms? This is an older video so maybe you figured it out by now, for playing live you should set the start time of the samples to 30-35 ms for only 15-20 ms delay on the samples. Otherwise you have 50 ms delay on notes and ofc that sucks when you play live. Record a note and take a look at the wav file. They have 50 ms delay before the actual sound of the note starts. That 50 ms is filled with noises from the pick touching the string and only after that the string vibrates and makes actual sound. Every sampled guitar library has this, but AS went a little too far if you ask me. For example Orange Tree and MusicLab went only for 15-20 ms delay and that's pretty much not noticeable. But it's ok for AS as long as you can set the delay however you want it from the START knob. If the delay was 0 then it will feel like you're playing a piano, so you gotta have some delay between key press and the actual sound.
+Daniel Raduinea Yup, I figured that one out. There is a lot to learn with MIDI and sampled libraries. It's easier when you can actually see the sample wave, so it's easier to see why there is a delay.
+hifimidi Indeed! It's an ongoing experience with midi and these sampled libraries. Btw thanks for making these videos. I was trying to find out how the AME guitar sounds out of the box (the clean samples) and your review is the only one showing that believe it or not. Not even Amplesound videos show the clean samples.
Daniel Raduinea By the way, AmpleSound lets you try their sample libraries (all of them) for 7 days if you email them and ask. After 7 days, the plugin disables.
+hifimidi I own AGG so i know all there is to know about their plug-ins. I was just interested in the samples and how AME sounds. I wasnt going to download and install 5 GB just for that. You'd think they have demos showing this, but no. I can't form an opinion based on the amplified sound, if that makes any sense :) I need to hear the clean samples.
Anyway now thanks to you i found out all i wanted to know. Imo for metal Shreddage 2 is still king. Amplesound's electric guitar samples have an unusual attack to them, it's not realistic enough for my taste. It's like a metallic click that i can't fix with compressors or transient plugins. Shreddage samples are much richer and fuller to the point that im using it even for clean tones. To each his own i guess :)
Very, very informative. Thank You!
I wish I could play electric guitar on my Midi keyboard like you sir .
Lol, at 8:55 when you played that overdrive note with AGF it sounded so much like the first part of one of those industrial metal songs from some old FPS game I actually expected that song to to start playing for a second. I'm not sure which game, I mostly just listen to the music now...
Quake series maybe?
Great review and great playing :)
dude you are genius i mean the way you play guitar with midi keyboard like you are playing a real guitar :) thumbs up
Great review!
Very good!!
From Brazil...
+canal kwesny Parece ser o Logic 10.
Talvez vc prefira o Fruity Loops. Eu pessoalmente prefiro ele ao invés do Logic
"And this is why humans need quantize" -1
3:42 -4:18 ..very nice chord progression. can you please temme which kind of chords they are ? like what do you call that genre of chords?
Thats A man Who Really Know How To Play... (y) Awesome M8 SUBBED
I need some guitars to make Kodak and Travis Scott type beats and this video helped me a lot.
excellent !!
Ample Sound III Guitars and Bass is the best VST at today for me...
I think Strawberry would be able to fool me if played well, but RealStrat just made me laugh. It sounds nothing like a guitar, and it doesn't good period.
With some tweaking and lots of instruments over it, you can almost get away with it. Haha. Definitely not my "go to" plugin.
try ample guitar ..the best
"it doesn't good"
Nice job! Please tell me where i can find this drum snare ?????
All great. The problem with keybordists that play vst guitars is that they play like keyboard and do somethings that are impossble to do on guitar with just one hand.
KKKKKKKKKK
I think your playing just fine buddy
Nice demo - thanks.
you sound like randy marsh
Thank you?
haaaaaaaaaaaa
great overview though
This joke made me laugh 4 years after
lmaoooo
😂😂😂😂😂😂 (or Trey...😄)
Can you make post Malone Hollywood's bleeding guitar riff in this music software ❤️
how can i get the expansion in kontakt?
Very good Ruben!, congratulations. I was enchanted with your video. Thanks !!!. I have one questions, do you use a midi keyboard for playing (in your video) or use a midi guitar ?, thanks!.
Perhaps some day you can show us your finger playing habilities in anohter video. Thank you a lot.
Hi! Very good sound! 🙌🙌 These plugins are compatible with any midi controller? I’m new in this world and I’m just learning to use the software, I have a Akai MPKmini3! Thanks for the video! 🤘
Which guitar vst you can play a chord on your keyboard but the vst will play it as arpeggio?
Very good ...
I was never all that impressed with how Realstrat sounded, the other 2 sound more real. Of course these are all going to fail in comparison to the guitar sample bank that I'M making! That is IF I ever get it finished.
CoolDudeClem what’s the name of the sample?
great and thank you!!
Real strat the problem with the plugin is the pick volume. Its only 1 sample and is too loud on default.Since the first transient its what define a sound to humans ...thats what we hear and judge the rest of the sound by that. Tip: Lower the pick to -10 , max up the alter samples, set the pick position to -5 that way the samples youll hear are more from the neck rather the bridge (unless you going for a "The edge " sound and select the lowest velocity mode. You'll get a pretty decent sound.
7:33 "Sorry about the noise"
Me: "FUCK YOU, I LOVE THAT"
which vst for a Les Paul with Marshall jcm900/jcm800 half/full stack with good muted chugga's?
And now what about RealEight today, in 2018? Some say it is pretty convincing.
I am interested in producing southern rock and country guitar....Is there any guitar plugin out there for FL studio that has a realistic pitch bend feature to get a twang and bendy feel, WITHOUT my having to use an external MIDI controller?
I cannot find the first guitar ANYWHERE... is there anyone who can help? I have the Strawberry guitar however I'm assuming as it is a newer edition the storyteller is not included? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Ruben and awesome content!
Storyteller is just a preset. The samples are the same, but the presets have different amp/fx settings. I too was really upset when I downloaded the update and realized it wasn’t there. It was such a beautiful sound.
I’d email OTS and ask if they can email you the old presets.
Did they stop making AGF?? I went to the site, they had every guitar listed except that one, I NEED THAT ONE smh
very good review.. thanks
Hey Nice Demo! I really agree with you, I have them. I was wondering what DAW you are using because it looks really professional compared to others. Thanks!!!
Logic Pro X. You're welcome. :)
The strat from music,ab sounds best in chord mode and disable the last two strings (high pitched strings)
You are so darn gooooooooooooood man!
im trying to make psychedelic rock by myself, thank you so much
Subscribed.
I liked AGF lots.
Nice Review!
I love the first one.
Nice work! Have one of this that we can make vibrato automation for solo's/ single chords?
5:32 damn man this was lit
great review man thanks
Hi Reuben, what do you think of the newly released AGF funk extension? Wonder how would you compare that to these... thanks!
Hi Adriel, I like the funk extension, but I don’t use it that much. It solved an issue I had with the first one, which didn’t have a nice attack like RealStrat. I think real strat is versatile, even though the sample depth isn’t as natural sounding as AGF Funk. So the RealStrat is superior in functionality, but not in sound quality. It’s a toss up. If I were to just choose one for background stuff, I would choose RealStrat. For more detailed playing like solos and fingerpicking stuff, I’d choose AGF.
What drums did you use?
Which one would you recommend for clean smooth mellow R&B/Soul? The Ample Sound Hollow II , the Fender Stratocaster or perhaps a Telecaster?
That's not my area of expertise. It depends on the effects you put on. Hollow sounds thick and smooth w/o fx, but I imagine the strat and tele would have more bite, but can also be made to sound more mellow.
Hey Ruben. Thanks for replying. I talked to Greg from Orange Tree Samples and sent him some song examples. He advised me a telecaster so i am waiting on a new one he is working on. I already got the hollow and it sounds awesome but its too nasal. I was looking for something just as mellow but more clean. In the meantime if ample sound does some summer sale i will be purchasing their telecaster and the les paul as well. I should have gotten the les paul instead of the hollow. They both sound mellow but the les paul is cleaner. I will have use for the hollow as well when i do more jazzy stuff.
mad skills on the keyboard
Love it, thank you :)
been trying quite a while to get natural and real rock/punk guitar sound out of default logic instruments, mostly using arpeggiator, adding some extra layers, reverb etc.. Hardest part is getting that raw rock strumming, mostly it just sounds pretty robotic, so sometimes I'm just like well, fuck this shit and pick up real guitar :D But then again hitting notes perfectly and recording it all without mistakes is a whole another story..
I like using virtual instruments to replace the real thing on parts where the real instrument makes mistakes and I can’t re-record it. Otherwise, I’d encourage you to learn how to program strumming. Or learn how to edit takes and piece them together.
@@hifimidi I mean is it even possible to get that real guitar strumming while playing live on logic? That's the real question, it would be awesome to jam with just laptops, but still make it sound rock n roll.
oh my god when that first sound started playing daaamn
Nice! Hey what drum kit did you used in this video?
im looking for a guitar vst that sound like The Jimi Hendrix Experience - All Along The Watchtower do you know a vst or to kontakt5?
You are plaing very warm
nice review man
thanks
Could anyone help me in selecting a basic, simple, not very expensive, but good sounding combination of software or hardware (maybe smth physical) for midi keyboard, - I'd love to play an electric guitar on a piano/keyboard. What studio/engine/library/or maybe all in one. Thank you in advance..
Can you get a rock guitar vst sounding like the main rock guitar they use in Linkin Park - Meteora?
Storyteller sounds just like a typical teenage highschool tv show
Hi, hifimidi. I compose with Guitar Pro 6 and I would like to know if is possible to use Ampli sound to import all the articulations of my score with the tab and then using Strawberry evolution for the sounds.
Thank you.
+eraldo di addario I have no idea. I know you can import tabs into the AmpleSound player to play through their plugin, but I don't know how you would then use Strawberry to trigger those same articulations.
Can FL Studios use Evolution Strawberry?
Do you know how to tune the Real Strat to a drop D or drop C? Thanks.
You're actually a really good ass player dude
i bought all of em
Yo can raise the volume of the hammer on to prevent it from being too quiet iin legato mode
Hello
What do you recommend to simulate a reggae guitar?
