don’t really care about the graphical upgrades like no staircase-ing and that. but 60 fps zelda is elite, finest of the fine, greater than the greatest of all time.
I played through the game on both Switch and PC. PC is a better experience, but it's not flawless. Even with a decent PC (i7-13700K / RTX 4080) I still get the occasional stuttering, and it appears to not be related to shaders. I've tried different settings / mods as well as made sure it isnt my CPU throttling and no matter what I can never get a perfectly stutter-free experience on PC. Switch does have slow-downs when a lot of stuff is happening, but slow downs are not as annoying as stuttering imo.
Better or worse than the video? I have a 13600K and 7900XT. Almost never have stuttering anymore after intensive building of shaders and switching to Vulkan.
i have a ryzen 3700x with an rtx 4070 and i can run it @ an absolutely stable 40fps / with frame generation completely stable 120fps. @ 60fps it has some stutters down to 45fps no matter the resolution so it is probably a cpu issue.
I don't think the game is better served by increased clarity of the visuals, because now I'm noticing all kinds of distracting graphical shortcomings, most noticeably the low level of detail of far away objects and volumetric effects. The switch leaves more to the imagination, and the details our brains end up filling in the gaps are ultimately more visually pleasing than how those details actually look given the full render treatment.
@@SavingPrivateBob No, that's actually the truth he tells. It's subjective. I remember how Amazing the original Xenoblade looked on Wii. Because of the low resolution it was impossible to see at what distance the grass fade-in. Now in HD or Emulator this looks ugly.
The only thing you showed is the game running at 60 fps instead of 30 and the resolution being slightly higher, not a good enough argument to say that it's better to play the game on PC than on the Switch.
the resolution is more than 4 times higher xD and the framerate is doubled. also you can use mod, clarity and vision filters and any control input you want. so if you are a girl with bad vision and disabilities you can play as a female character, control with an input device you can actually use and tweak the graphics for better visibility.
So, oddly enough, without the haze i feel TotK loses some of its atmosphere. If i could keep that and get 60fps (and had a strong enough PC) id move over to emulator so quick
you entirely can. if you want you can keep the game in its original resolution and all same graphics just a higher framerate. because thats just how much freedom PC gives you.
@@audr1en for sure, I know that. I just don't have a strong enough PC to emulate TotK and the Deck sucks with TotK. So, Switch it is until I upgrade my PC (I have a hacked Switch so at least I'm able to mess around with some mods and stuff)
The Switch does that on its own and there’s nothing I can do about it. It uses dynamic resolution and FSR which you can’t turn off. The raw capture from the 30 second internal recording is already compressed down to around 1mb per second of footage. Compare that to the AMD Adrenaline which I used on PC which usually uses double if not triple that recording size. The only thing I did was upscale the Switch footage to 1440p so it wouldn’t have half of its screen shrunk down.
@@Swaggaccino There's an easy answer to this then, isn't there? Don't use the Switch's internal video capture. Like you and I both said, it's compressed to fuck. Use a capture card. That will actually show you how the video output looks under normal conditions, with little to no extra encoding compression.
But what if I wanna play on my long flight to Japan? Guess I'll just carry my PC with me? How about when I ride the train over there? Should I just set up "the best way to play" on the train? Switch seems to fit better. Handheld is highly superior to just having a PC at home that I can't access
if you use a controller like joycons or a playstation controller then yes. but you can also play it with mouse & keyboard 🙈 mouse is the most precise but since Zelda isn't a shooter it's not really an enhancing feature. but what's great is that you can use controllers for disabled people. something nintendo doesn't offer at all. you can also apply filters for people with a bad vision or color blindness.
why not ? you can use any controller you want, including with motion controls or special ones for disabled people. you can apply any filters, even for color blind people or with vision problems, and on top of that it's easy to use mods, to add content, make the game easier or harder or to play as a female character.
@@HermesderWetterbote Learning curve. Some people are just not interested in learning how to set up all that is required to play on a PC. Not to mention Nintendo's stance on anything emulation-related, which makes you try and find the files you need through less-than-reputable means, unless you what to rip them straight off the original software-media, which can require expense hardware and software. I say this as someone how emulates games by the way. Some people want something as close to the plug-and-play experience of their childhoods as possible, and consoles generally provide it. Yes, there are still updates and the like on consoles nowadays, but they are generally quick and don't create too much of an inconvenience, at least in my experience and on Nintendo's hardware. Consoles have their issues, I don't disagree with you; but I still think they have their place in modern gaming.
Never cared for PC emulation. While yes, it is better from a technical standpoint, 30fps at 900p is completely acceptable in my book. Even when it dips, I’m still having a blast. Saying that PC is an objectively better experience is not entirely true, because some people actually find charm in fps drops. (Me being one of them)

Off topic but love how clean this editing is. How did you the split screen so smoothly?
Thanks! I used Adobe Premiere, cropped 25% off each side and synced it up for the side by sides.

but there are a lot of handheld pc's like the steam deck out there that also outperform the switch at running games like totk 😅
Then why are you even here? Play it how you want and quit whining. This isn't for you.

This is why I hope the next Nintendo console has a next gen version of this game
Botw and totk in one package would be nice on the switch 2.
Is this Yuzu or Ryu? I've got the 7900 XTX and still get stutters sometimes.

Just wait for the Switch2 to rectify that problem it's predecessor struggled with.
